Amardeep Jha has always been a well-known face thanks to her characters such as Shankari Tai in Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Mehru Chachi in Rajan Shahi's Maat Pitaah Ke Charnon Mein Swarg and as Nani in Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai. However, the film 3-Idiots has taken her to new levels of being recognized…
Amardeep says, "After 3-Idiots' release many people are coming over to me and asking me – you played Sharman's (Sharman Joshi) mother na?' I'm happy until they kid me with the next line- 'You will not give us the rotis made with those messy belans na?"
The actress adds, "By God's grace, even the bit parts offered to me have made an impact on the audience's minds. They remember me, even though I appear on the screen for very little time. Touchwood, all my roles have made my face worth remembering."
Amardeep is happy about the fact that she worked in a film with a wonderful message. She says, "Every scene of the film, be it emotional or funny, had a message to send across. My scene with the messy belan, made the audience think about lower-middle class people's tragedies. Most of the other scenes were thought provoking."
She also has a say about the controversy over the movie, over the share of credit with novel writer Chetan Bhagat. "I personally don't think controversies should happen. Having said that, I think every collaboration should begin with absolute transparency. The last I heard is that Chetan apologized," she signs off.
