Alia Bhatt was recently in Kolkata to promote Meri Jaan, the latest Gangubai Kathiawadi track. The movie, helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is inspired by a chapter from S Hussain Zaidi's book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, and Shantanu Maheshwari also star in the film.

Taking a dig at the film, Kangana Ranaut had earlier said on her Instagram stories,

“This Friday 200cr will be burnt to ashes at the box office for a papa ki pari because papa wants to prove that romcom bimbo can act biggest drawback of the film is wrong casting...yeh nahi sudhrenge, no wonder screens are going to South and Hollywood films. Bollywood is destined for doom jab tak movie mafia has power.”

Alia, in response to Kangana's statement, told news agency PTI,

"Lord Krishna had said in the Gita that inaction is an action. That's all I want to say."

Kangana Ranaut recently criticised a viral video of a little girl mimicking Alia's character from Gangubai Kathiawadi on Instagram. She wrote in her post, "Should this child emulate a sex worker who carries a beedi in her mouth and speaks in filthy and obscene tones? Is it acceptable to sexualize her at this age, based on her body language? Hundreds of additional children are being used in the same way."

Gangubai Kathiawadi portrays the story of a lady who is trafficked into prostitution and rises to prominence in Kamathipura's red-light district. The film is all set to hit the theatres on 25th February and fans can't stop fawning at the songs. Alia's upcoming projects include Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, Darlings, RRR, and Brahmastra, in addition to Gangubai Kathiawadi.

wow, did she actually call her a bimbo? publicly? geez. kangana, why cant you deliver the same message without the attack ? i fee like she wants to be apart of these people lives so badly - their parties, whatsapp chats, brunches - and cuz they dont include her, she retaliates like this. funny enough tho, she never seems to comment on kajol, kareena and some of the established actresses before her ...no comments on salman with which is shocking. i guess she knows where to draw the line.

This lady is throwing shade on a girl whose father was responsible for launching her career. Had it not been for Gangster or Woh Lange no one would have tapped into her potential so early. MB is no saint but he is the one who has given new comers a good chance in all his movies.

Well, at least she doesn't go around spreading communal hatred like you do.
