The recent success of South blockbusters like RRR and KGF Chapter 2 in the PAN-India circuit has become an example for many where the line between languages and the films that they are made and presented in. Kannada superstar Kiccha Sudeep also has his own PAN-India film set to be releasing soon in the form of Vikrant Rona.

But it was a statement made by him recently that landed him in a controversy. At an event, Sudeep said, “Someone said that a pan India film (‘KGF: 2’) was made in Kannada. I'd like to make a small correction. Hindi is no more a national language. They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it's (the success) not happening. Today we are making films that are going everywhere.”

This was immediately been marked upon by none other than actor Ajay Devgn. Here is what Devgn tweeted-

His tweet would roughly be translated to, “@KicchaSudeep my brother, According to you if Hindi is not our national language then why do you release your mother tongue movies by dubbing them in Hindi? Hindi was, is and always will be our mother tongue and national language. Jan Gan Man.”

i agree to Sudeep... he said the right... only because we all learn hindi.. doesnt mean everyone is aware of it... if we reply in our mother tongue... then comedy of communication to happen...

Sudeep is absolutely right! Agreed everyone is familiar with Hindi but that doesn’t make it our national language and so is the case with English. Just because North Indians speak Hindi and think they are better off than the South Indians doesn’t make it the truth. And if Hindi industry is really so good, y do u remake South movies or watch their dubs? Even Hindi movie channels like Set Max and Star Gold play Hindi dubs of south movies.

Hindi is not India’s national language. There is no national language of India . These Bollywood actors once looked down on regional movie industry but today things have changed and their ego doesn’t allow them to acknowledge that .

PAN india movies are dubbed into various languages does it mean it’s our national language ?? Ajay Devgan sounded so ignorant

What? His movies also have English subtitles duh!!
It's just for better reach.

K dramas are available on Netflix and MX player in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada so are they South Korea's national languages?

And FYI my mother tongue is Hindi, so I am not defending Kannada here.
