I am back with an update .This time my update is not a small one i hope but not too long even.Thank u sharms di for ur recipe.I dont know how to cook so please bear with me .Ignore my grammatical mistakes.
Chapter 9:
She decided to prepare fish cakes by looking at the ingredients she was given.Its a simple round and its easy to cook for her in an hour.
She was given a bowl of potatoes,salmon fillet,olive oil,few sprigs of fresh flat -leaf parsley ,
Large free range egg ,lemon, plain flour .
Then she remembered the recipe of fish cakes which sk gave her a month back.
"Mehek u need the ingredients in the following quantities to prepare the dish.
300 g potatoes100 g salmon fillet , skin on, scaled, pin-boned, from sustainable sourcesolive oila few sprigs of fresh flat-leaf parsley1 large free-range egg1 lemon1 tablespoon plain flour , plus extra for dusting.
Peel the potatoes, cut into 2cm chunks, and cook in boiling salted water for 10 minutes (or use baked potatoes scoop out the potato and discard the skin).Rub the salmon fillet all over with a little oil and a pinch of sea salt and black pepper, then place in a colander and cover with tin foil.When the time's up on the potatoes, place colander directly over the pan of boiling potatoes. Turn the heat down to medium-low and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the salmon and potatoes are both cooked through.Meanwhile, pick and finely chop the parsley leaves, discarding the stalks.Once cooked, remove the fish from the colander to a plate, and discard the skin. Drain the potatoes, and leave to steam dry for 1 minute, then tip back into the pan.Mash the potatoes, spreading the mash round the sides of the pan to help it cool down quickly. When the potatoes are cooled, transfer to a bowl.Flake the salmon into the bowl, add 1 tablespoon of flour, the egg, chopped parsley and a really good pinch of sea salt and black pepper. Finely grate over the lemon zest, then mash and mix together really well.Dust a plate with a little flour. Divide the mixture into 4, then lightly shape and pat into circles about 2cm thick, dusting them with flour as you go. Put them onto a clean plate also dusted with a little flour. If you're going to freeze them, wrap them in clingfilm at this point and put them into the freezer. Otherwise simply pop them into the fridge for an hour before cooking this will allow them to firm up slightly.Heat a couple of lugs of oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat, add the fishcakes and cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until crisp and golden you may need to work in batches.Serve straight away, with veg or salad and lemon wedges for squeezing over."
It was his recipe and she remembered his words exactly.
She thanked him in her mind and thought "Tum sach kehthe ho tum mere har kadam par mera saath dethe ho aur yaha bhi tumhara recipe mera saath de raha hai yaani tum mera saath de rahe ho ."
I starting cooking the dish by again and again remembering his recipe.
I am extremely nervous just like when i cooked for the first time at ISC .Even i was nervous when i cooked at delhi Haat but both my family was with me .Now i am alone but its my fault .He keep on insisted that he wants to be with me but i refused as today is not only an important day for me but also for him.Today he has a meeting with some international deligates which he postponed 2 times just because of me .I dont want to be the reason for his disappointment.He promised me he will reach here after he finishes his meeting.May be he is on his way .I just want to ask him he was his meeting but i am not allowed to use my mobile here.
I should concentrate on my cooking.If i fail in this competition he will definitely be angry with me as he always is a winner and wish the same for me even.A sudden noise broke my reverie .Everyone were crowded around a judge .Then i moved towards the crowd someone said judge was fainted .So the competition was stopped in the middle .Everyone were paniced and he was taken to hospital immediately.After an hour it was informed that he had an heart stroke so they are in search for a new judge .It took two hours for them to select a judge until then we waited .In the meantime i thought to call him but i left my mobile out.They are not allowing any of us to go out as its against the rules.
Then a lady entered in a off shoulder knee length dress.She was not at all appearing like a judge but like a skinny model .Even shaurya appeared like a super model when i met him for the first time at Delhi Haat but i didnt find him hot and dashing then may be because of his rudeness .Now he is my life ,my everything .
Then there was an announcement for the participants to start cooking their dishes once again and should be finished within minutes.
I finished my dish in time and judges were tasting everyone's dishes one by one.By seeing their expressions i felt they were showing their tantrums just like my khadoos akdu khanna .I was not at all interested in hearing their bad or good compliments for others .I am just eagerly waiting for my turn then one by one all the three tasted my dish .They didnt say anything but to my surprise they finished my dish .They noted my marks and left the place.Then anchor announced all the runner ups one by one and at last they declared me as today's winner.I was extremely happy but i felt lonely as noone was beside me to share my happiness.Then i thought he is with me in my determination and he will be here in a short time i assured myself.
Everyone congratulated me and left .Its my first success in a cooking competition as Mehek Shaurya khanna .Its a first step to fulfill my mother's wish .Then i reached a nearby restaurant .There was not a single table remained empty .I found a table where there was a lady far away.I thought to ask her but how could i ? As she was the same substitute judge .She offfered me to sit there .I reluctantly accepted her offer .Then she offered me a job in her restaurant for which i refused .She glared at me later started giving her advice..
"Why dont u settle here mehek?U can earn a lot of money.what will u get by going back to india ?"Nikki said."First of all money is not important for me .Not now not ever .I will get my family's love by moving back .Moreover i love my country "mehek replied.
"So i think u love ur family morethan anything .U r planning to go back to india .Are u waiting for someone here ?"nikki asked.
"Haa my husband .He called me just now .He is on his way .Will u please be with me till then .I will introduce my husband.
"Haa i will wait.Waise bhi yeh boring middle class mehek ki husband kaisa hoga i can assume.sada hua typical middle class ladka hoga yaa budda .I am not interested to meet him but have to wait nikki thought.
Mehek was extremely happy when she saw the name flashing on her moblie screen .Its our shaurya khanna.She immediately picked it up ."Jaan i am here .U r looking gorgeous i must say."sk praised her.She blushed and asked "where r u ?"
"I AM at the entrance.I miss u ".he said .
Mehek suddenly stood up and rushed to meet him.She hugged him and he hugged her back.They both said I love u in unison.Then she asked him about his meeting said "How was ur first day in the competition ? First u say" he was concerned towards her and he added "mehek i know how to handle meetings .Meeting was good but i am extremely worried for u as u r all alone here .So tell me quick."
She stood there with a sad face .He thought she got some less marks but he didnt think she was eliminated as he is confidient about her cooking skills.He said "Its ok mehek .Now i am here i will train u ."
Then she smiled and said she was that day's winner .She hugged him again and he kissed her forehead.
He congratulated her and they both were walking holding hands and staring each other lovingly towards the table where nikitha was .
Then mehek introduced nikitha to shaurya.Nikitha was shocked.In my language use 440 volt ka jhatka laga.She couldnt imagine even in her dreams shaurya khanna as middle class mehek 's husband.She pinched herself.Mehrya were lost in their own world and oblivious to their surroundings.This irked the nikitha and she wants to create differences between them .
"Do u know him ?"mehek asked nikitha as she couldnt understand nikitha's expressions.
"Ofcourse mehek .I know him more than u and i think i know him better than anyone .We were in a live-in relationship 4 yrs back.shaurya didnt tell u anything about me how could he ?He should tell u everything afterall u r his wife "nikitha smiled seeing sk.He clenched his fist and his eyes were red .Mehek could sense it .Immediately she need to cool him down .
"U r right .May be u know him better than anyone then but not now.He didnt say anything about u as i said i was not interested to know his past and his numerous relationships .Uska past jaan kar mein kya karungi ?He himself confirmed that he had 50 gfs in his past .So unn sab mein se ek ek ke baare mein jaan kar mein kya karungi ?Hamara aaj aur hamara pyaar ke alava mujhe kuch nahi jaanna yahi kaha na shaurya mein ne tumse "mehek said holding his clenched fist.
He smirked by his pyaari wife's words and thought "Maan na padega tum meri biwi ho"
"I think urs is an arranged marriage .Hai na shaurya.
I couldnt think that u r shaurya's choice."
Then shaurya thought she was testing his patience .Its time for him to deal the situation in his own style.Still all the three were standing .Shaurya placed his hand on mehek's waist and said "Nikki u r wrong .Ours is a love marriage.I proposed her 3 times that too on my knees.She refused my proposal after many attempts i convinced her.Ours is an adventurous ,romantic ,passionate and etc..etc...I should say everything is there in our love story .Hai na mehek "he pinched her on her wrist .Mehek hit him on his hand playfully .Nikitha tho jal bunkar raag ho rahi hai yeh sab dekh kar but shaurya was enjoying the scene.
"I am very excited .I want to hear ur story "Nikitha asked but shaurya felt that there was something fishy here .He thought to cut their meeting .Then mehek tried to tell her story but shaurya said that he was very tired and need rest.Moreover he will eat something when he reach the hotel and he bid bye to nikki and took mehek along with him.
They both were in a car ."Shaurya usse jalane keliye tum mujhe use kar rahe ho .What's wrong with u ?"mehek questioned him.
Sk was very angry "Kya mehek ?Tumhein pyaar aisa lagraha hai.I came here to meet u but u r questioning my love ? "
He started towards the nearby hotel .she said sorry but he didnt respond .She placed her head on his shoulder and started drawing patterns on his chest and said"Shaurya please mujhe maaf kar do .I am just teasing u.Kya mein apne ek lautha pathi ko tease nahi kar sakthi ?"she questioned him with puppy eyes.He slowly melted ,stopped the car and hugged her ."Mehek tum ek minute mein meri bahadur biwi lagthi ho agle minute Bewakoof biwi .Kya karun mein?"he smirked.
"Acha mein Bewakoof biwi ho tho tumne shaadi kyun ki mujhse "she turned her face towards window.
He turned her towards him and said"Bewakoof ho yaa akalmandh par mein apni biwi se beintahaa mohabbat jo kartha hun.
Hamara pyaar tho beintahaa hai par aaj bhi hamara shaadi adhura kya karun mein bichara "he huskily said.
Mehek was guilty and she started crying.He cursed himself for making her cry and wiped her tears and hugged her."Dont cry mehek.I couldnt see tears in ur eyes .We both discussed about this earlier.Now i think we need to complete our dinner and tomorrow we will start our work .Ok"
