Part 13 :

Mehak looked at him and said: Why are you telling me all this?

Shaurya simply smiled: Honestly, I don't know. I have no clue why I am telling you all this n also expecting you to listen to what I wanna say. Do you know Shruti? She had once come on the sets of ISC?

Mehak was trying to recollect that name - yes, Shruti, his younger brother's wife. Mehak couldn't forget the scene that had transpired between them when she had accidentally spilled coffee on her dress. She had shouted at her in front of the entire unit. If it wasn't for Karuna Mam's presence, she would have definitely cried and left the shoot.

Mehak curiously asked: What about her?

Shaurya: She was my ex?

Mehak looked at him shocked. His ex, she knew he had been in a lot of relationships in the past but had no idea of his ex being his brother's wife.

Shaurya: We were going to get married. We were so happy. It was all decided -the wedding date, the cards were sent, everything was perfect. With her in my life, I knew I was finally getting the happiness that I always longed for. But of course, how is it possible that I get what I want without my share of struggles! 5 days before our marriage, she called off her wedding and eloped with Vicky. When I asked her the reason, she answered that she wanted financial security which i wasn't able to give her n thts why she chose Vicky over me. You know Ms. Sharma after she turned out to be unfaithful, I just couldn't imagine my next love interest remaining loyal. The pain still stings for me.

Mehak looked at him sadly. She had never seen him so vulnerable before. She looked at him with pain-filled eyes. She couldn't stop feeling sorry for him.

Shaurya looked at her, he could clearly see the pain and sympathy for him in her eyes.

Shaurya: If you are thinking whether I still have feelings for her, then I may tell you that she no longer interests me. For me, she is my brother's wife n I respect tht relation. Even if they do not consider me as their relative, it really doesn't bother me. I have accepted faith and live my life by my own choices.

Mehak: If you yourself had suffered the pain of betrayal, what made you wish the same for others?

Shaurya was shocked with her question. She was right, didn't he suffer enough and in spite of his past painful experiences, how could he wish the same fate to her. He couldn't deny the fact any more that he was indeed wrong with Mehak.

Before he could reply, the lift started moving and stopped on the ground floor. The moment the door opened, few of the hotel staff were waiting outside along with Mohit and Jeevan chachu. Mehak and Shaurya stepped out of the lift. When Mohit saw her, he leaped forward to hug her and Mehak hugged him back assuring him that she was alright and there was nothing to worry about.

Shaurya could clearly see the look of fear and concern on her chachu's face. He was right - her family members were here looking for her making sure that their daughter was safe. How he wished to have that in his life too.

Jeevan chachu: Shaurya Sir, are you fine?

Shaurya: Yes.

Jeevan chachu: Thank god, bacchi akeli nahi thi, warna darr jaati.

Shaurya looked at Mehak and then at chachu: I don't think so. She was very calm n composed in the lift. You need not worry about her. She is a strong girl.

He had a proud smile on his face when he said so. After the conversation that they had in the lift, Mehak wanted to talk to him, do something to ease his pain but something inside her told her to not do so. She knew Shaurya was very unpredictable. If she tried to say anything to him, he would misunderstand her and accuse her of making fun of his past. She was done with all the hatred and accusations that he had been throwing at her for the last couple of days and had no desire to endure any of that.

Shaurya: Aiyye, main aapko ghar chod deta hoon.

Mehak: No, its ok. We will manage. Thank you.

Shaurya: Ms. Sharma, I insist. Chachu please .Its very late now and you wont even get an auto. Please let me drop you.

Chachu nodded yes and they all sat in Shaurya's car with chachu sitting in the passenger seat and Mehak and Mohit sitting in the back seat.

They traveled in silence. Shaurya would steal glances at Mehak through the rear-view mirror. Once or twice Mehak caught him staring at her. Jeevan chachu called up Kaanta chachi assuring her that Mehak was with them and they would reach home within an hour. Finally, when they reached Parathewali galli, chachi who had been waiting outside all along rushed to hug Mehak. Mehak simply smiled.

Kaanta chachi: Thank you beta for taking care of her. Agar aap nahi hote toh bacchi darr jaati...

Shaurya smiled: Aap sabko lagta hai ki Mehak bahut darrpok hai but let me tell you that it was me who was scared and not her.

Mehak looked at him surprised. Was this real? He was laughing at himself. Ever since she had known him, she was of the opinion that he is someone who prides himself in making fun of others and bringing them down but this was a new side to him which she hadn't known yet. Was this the same Shaurya who had betrayed her and played with her feelings?

Mehak had one last look at Shaurya and bid him good night. Shaurya smiled and drove home.

He had a smile on his face while he was driving. He didn't know what made him open his heart to Mehak but he felt lighter and better. Of course, his mother knew everything about his past, his affair with Shruti and how he was broken after her betrayal but he always lied to her that she didn't affect him. During the initial days of her marriage to Vicky, he had a tough time living under the same roof as her. It pained him to see the love of his life in the arms of his brother. He would put up a faade in front of his mother and other family members that he had indeed moved on but it was far from the truth. Today, he understood the importance of friendship in life. To be honest, he never had any friends in his life coz he always suffered from trust issues. But after talking to Mehak, he realized that he so badly needed a friend in his life. Maybe she could be his friend!

He applied the brakes which brought the car to a screeching halt.

Shaurya angrily: Wht was I thinking? Have I gone crazy? Mehak and my friend...Shaurya Khanna you have gone mad...Ahhh I need to just stop thinking about her!!! I don't need anyone. I am happy being alone...

P.S. I wanted to include few mehrya pics but due to time constraints i couldnt do so...maybe next time😉
