Part 3:
Shaurya was frantically searching for Mehak. He had to see her and talk to her but what would he talk. How would he ask her directly who she likes and even if she does, what would he answer if she asks him the reason. No, this was getting way too complicated for him now but he couldn't stay quiet seeing all this. He needed to do something asap. He went to meet her in the kitchen.
Even though Shaurya was the owner of his hotel and had a bevy of people working under him, he would still make it a point to meet his customers to see their reactions. He would also make sure to take surprise visits to his kitchen area to inspect the food that was being served to his customers. All this success was a result of his own sweat and blood and he would do anything to protect his reputation. After all, that was what mattered him the most in his life.
He made his way towards the kitchen hoping to see Mehak working alone on the desert because it was what the customers had demanded. People thronged in huge numbers to his restaurant not only for his awesome quality food but also for the lovely mouth watering dishes that were served to them. His hotel would conduct feedbacks for all his regular customers to gauge their reactions. All of them would only talk about the desert that was served and how they wanted to meet the special chef who made them. It was then decided by him, Rajeev and Head chef Alok that Mehak would concentrate on the desert rather than the other main courses.
When Shaurya entered the kitchen, he saw Mehak working on the desert. She was wearing her chef coat on her saree but was looking mesmerizing. All along he knew that there was something that always pulled him towards her. He kept on admiring her and unknowingly, a smile came on his lips. She was looking just the epitome of beauty...simple, sweet and elegant...Shaurya was making his way towards her when he saw Karan approaching her from the other end.
Karan: Morning Mehak...whoa whoa...Someone is looking very beautiful, sweet and elegant.
Shaurya thought: Darn it!!!!! This was supposed to be my line...I was gonna tell her all dis...Why is dis idiot here?
Mehak and Karan had their backs towards Shaurya, so they didn't see him standing at the door.
Mehak: Morning Karan and thank you...Now only if she had Shaurya here to see her talking to Karan...
Karan: Mehak I knew you were pretty but I didn't know that you looked like a princess...aisa lagta hai jaise aasmaan se koi pari utar aayi ho...Haaye I guess I lost my heart here to you...Please someone take me to a doctor...
Mehak just smiled but at times she would get irritated by his cheesy pick up lines. The other girls would swoon over his lines but not her... But if she had to make her plan work, she had to act along with him and go with the flow too. But she would rather do this when Shaurya was around and not alone with Karan or else he would rather get wrong signals about her. Mehak knew Karan was a good guy; he was flirty and mischievous but was harmless.
Karan was going gaga over her beauty and singing praises all along and Mehak would just smile at him to show that she had his attention and was listening to him. While cutting the chocolate in pieces for the Tiramisu cake, her hair opened and fell on her face. Since her hands were fully covered in chocolate, she kept on struggling to get those strands of hair behind her ear. She was just about to do that when Karan touched her hair and slowly started putting them behind her hair. She was shocked and wasn't expecting this.
That was the last straw to unleash Shaurya's anger. This was too much...How dare he touch her and she isn't saying anything to her. Had he done the same thing with her, she would have jumped up on him hurling curses and profanities...Not to mention if her Kaanta chachi knew that he had touched her this way, she would break him into pieces and parcel him to a far off place.
He was brought back from his thoughts when he saw Karan leaning a little closer to Mehak.
Mehak: Karan wohhh...
Shaurya pushed Karan away and stood between him and Mehak: What the hell? What are you doing here? Isn't your shift over? Do you wanna work double shifts here?
Karan was scared seeing Shaurya's anger and so was Mehak. She only wanted to make him jealous not angry.
Karan: No sorry Sir...I was about to leave ...had come just to take my bag...had forgotten it...
Shaurya: If you had come to take your bag, wht were you doing here with bag? Do you think she was using ur bag as an ingredient to cook her desert...
Mehak wanted to play along, she had to act brave now and fuel his anger a bit so that he confesses.
Mehak: No Sir...Karan was just helping me in making the desert...
Shaurya fumed listening to her taking that good for nothing guy's side.
Shaurya: Wht the...? Why do u need his help? If you can't do anything on your own, just keep quiet and let others do it..
Mehak was surprised or rather shocked listening to him. How would she withstand this beast's anger now...
Mehak thought: Nahi Mehak darr mat...sirf chillata hai but dil ka accha hai...will cool down...bas thoda aur time jhel le...Don't give up...be strong!! You can do it...
Mehak : Really Sir, Karan was only helping me...I was also feeling a bit lonely here...so we started chatting up...
Karan was scared... He didn't want to take chances. So he spoke.
Karan: I m really sorry...I apologize for my mistake..,... I ll leave...I ll do double shifts no triple shifts...in fact Sir I won't go home today n tomorrow n may be after that...
Shaurya shouted: Just shut up and leave...
Karan dashed towards the main door and left the two alone in the kitchen. Before Mehak could say anything to Shaurya, he charged towards her in anger.
Shaurya: What the hell is wrong wid you? N why are you wearing dis saree? I don't like when people who work for me don't follow my rules.
Mehak didn't get it...was there any rule in the contract of not wearing a saree to the hotel... Sure, that wasn't the case coz the female staff at the hotel wore saree as their uniforms.
Mehak: But der is no written rule anywhere for the saree...
Shaurya barked: Yeah right, toh hum tum mujhe bataogi ki rules kya hai?
Mehak: Tum aise kyun baat kar rahe hai...
Shaurya: It's been months that you are working at this hotel and now all of a sudden you decide to show urself in saree...let me guess may b to impress someone...
Before Mehak could interrupt him, he spoke...
Shaurya : Let me very clear Ms Mehak Sharma, you r looking awful...the moment I saw you I felt like puking...n this color...no it doesn't suit you...nor does it suit your size..I mean kisine tumhe ghar se nikalte waqt kaha nahi that tum bahut buri lag rahi ho...arre tumhara size ka toh khayaalll...
Mehak's face fell...She wasn't expecting him to say that...She was expecting some sugar coated praises, thinking how he would go all weak in his knees just looking at her and here this guy rejected her saying that she was looking awful. She had tears in her eyes but she wouldn't let them fall and show herself weak in front of him.
One look at her and Shaurya realized that he had crossed his line. This wasn't meant to be. He didn't want to be hurtful to her but he had no control over himself. He lost it when he saw that *** Karan touching her.
Mehak said with restraint anger: ok fine Mr. Shaurya Khanna... I got it...Now ll you please leave n let me work here ALONE.
Shaurya wanted to apologize but it was too late. He had hurt her with his words like always and now no matter what she wouldn't understand him. It was better to leave now before it gets out of hand.
With a heavy heart, he left the kitchen and walked towards his cabin. On one side, there was Shaurya who was frustrated with his behavior with Mehak and on the other side; there was Mehak who saw her hopes shattered right in front of her only coz of Shaurya's egoistic attitude.
After he had left, Mehak couldn't control herself and she cried. Good, she had the privacy of her kitchen to vent her emotions.
Mehak: Shaurya why did you do this? Maine kya kya nahi socha tumhare bare mein that you ll praise me, you will be happy to see me like this...n phir keh doge ki that you too have feelings for me...but this isn't your fault...Maybe you had nothing for me...Its all my fault..I m the biggest idiot here...
Shaurya reached his cabin and banged his fist on the table.
Shaurya: Why does this happen with me? Why can't I ever control my tongue and why is it always with her? Everything was going so smoothly between us and like always I ruined it...Ahhh
He had to vent his frustration and he kept on thinking of all those times when he had hurt her...all the nasty things that he had done just to get her to leave the competition.
By now, Mehak was fine but she was angry at herself for making her feel this way for someone who didn't care about her or her feelings... who didn't respect her as a woman...Enough was enough for her. She didn't have any more energy left in her to fight the beast that he was. With this thought in mind, she made her way towards his cabin and decided to resign from her post.
