It's mostly when someone points out her fault that she starts feeling guilty. She is so out of touch with even herself that when she falls in love, don't expect her to act like a normal girl in love. She will go about it in a borderline psychotic way. And you're going to witness some serious denial. I swear no fictional character has frustrated me as much as her to date!
And I know Farah gets a lot of flak for her personality flaws but I feel Afzal is pretty selfish himself. The only difference is that his selfishness is driven by his love whereas her selfishness is driven by her sense of self importance. And that he usually takes the high way of honesty whereas she plays dirty games. In his obsession with Farah, he does everything as a reaction to what she does, hurting his own family in the process, and for no fault of their own. In fact, both he and Farah will be putting their families through hell in their little game with each other. They'll both not even think twice before using other people's genuine emotions to get back at each other. All this actually makes it a very fascinating love story.

This is so true! Farah is one complex character, she's so difficult to understand and that is what I loved the most about her. She makes you angry as hell but she makes you think as well. She makes you want to analyze her 😃 I don't think people can see any good in her at the start of the drama because I remember when I started watching it, I made it through the first half through my sheer love for Afzal 😆 Of course the families, the acting and the dialogues helped big time but I loathed Farah. And usually when I hate any one of the leads, it puts me off that serial but there is an attractive quality to her character as well. As much as you hate her, you want to see to what extent she goes in her insensitiveness 😕

And totally agree with the selfishness part. Afzal is selfish in love so you can forgive him even though he puts his family through so much, not to forget how he almost used Yasmeen. You aso forgive him because you see him going through so much heartache 😭 But Farah becomes difficult to forgive because she is driven by sheer selfishness. She thinks of no one but herself 😕

Couldn't log in yesterday as I was in transit, so I'll talk about yesterday's episode first, which I just saw on Zindagi's web site..
This and the next couple of episodes are pretty important for the plot.

Heart-broken, Afzal finally decides to tell his parents he wants to leave Hyderabad and go to Karachi. Again there is a reference to his "dil bewafai karay to bewafai karni parti hai" dialogue from previous episode when he tells them that he knew Farah would refuse when he took them there.

We also see that Afzal doesn't do anything unless his conscience is clear about it. So he asks his father if it's jaaiz for him to love a girl who doesn't love him back. And only rests when he gets an answer in the affirmative. His parents are understandably confused as they believe that Afzal is in a relationship with another girl who writes him letters, while he is proposing marriage to Farah, and hence is cheating on the first girl.

They are also understandably angry at him, but are even more crushed on hearing of his intended move to Karachi. He is their only son and very precious to every member of their family. He gets yet another slap from his mother 😆, this time Moulvi sahab scolding her about it. "Ab usay kya maarna jo apni hijrat se dara ke humein maar dega!" His dialogues portray the helplessness of parents when their grown up kid decides to do something so drastic.

Afzal: Mein apni kismat azmanay ja raha hun Abba.

Moulvi sahab: To phir kismet azmao na beta, humein na azmao. Hum se to bas ye chhoti chhoti azmaishein letay raho. Phir le jao kisi larki ke ghar. Hum chalay jayengay. Inkar sun kar wapas aa jayengay aur neend ki goli kha ker so bhi jayengay. Aaj bhi neend ki goli khai hui hai humnay. Lekin hum dono ko neend nahi aayi. Pata hai kyun? Tum ghar nahi aaye thay na. Ab tum aa gaye ho to dekhna kaisay goli asar karti hai.

Here, a huge round of applause for Khalil ur Rehman Qamar for penning these dialogues 👏

In this episode, we get another glimpse of Farah's character. After creating a scene, and getting a good hearing from her sister, it's not like, "Whatever, thank God my problem is over!" and she goes to sleep. Instead, she stays up all night. So her conscience is very much alive, she just can't connect to it emotionally. Of course when Lubna asks her about it, she says she couldn't sleep because of happiness, that she dealt with him in a way he deserved. But she looked anything but happy when Lubna first approached her! 😆

It's not that she especially feels bad for Afzal. In fact, she still blames him for everything and feels she is in the right and he shouldn't have brought his parents to her home. She and Lubna of course don't know that the real reason is because Afzal actually loves her. They believe he did it to blackmail her into getting more money. And if one thinks about it, what else are they supposed to think? How are they supposed to know the real reason?

I love how Afzal's mother always acts so tough and then as soon as she hears he isn't at home, instantly drops the act. "Mujhse wada le lo Moulvi sahab, ab thappar nahi maroongi usay."

In this episode we also hear for the first time Afzal's desire to become a 'baraa aadmi', which he confides in his friend Timmy, who finds it a ridiculous notion. 😆

This desire of becoming Baraa Aadmi is going to dictate the rest of Afzal's life from here on.

In the end, we see Farah's parents talking about Afzal, and learn why her father is so concerned about Afzal. Afzal has really impressed him, and he completely understands the rarity of such people. Deep down he KNOWS Afzal cannot cheat them.

"Meray abba kaha kartay thay ke mardo'n mein mard ko dhoond lena aisa hai jaisay tarboozo'n ke dhair mein woh tarbooz dhoond lena jo ander se laal ho."

And Farah's dad knows he has that quality of seeing Afzal for who he really is.

I get that. And I guess I should be more appreciative. I do like grey characters. But Im yet to see any good in Farah,so until then.. Also,I think if Farah was shown to be a bit more younger, her actions would have made sense to me.

She just seems stupid to me. And has no mind of her own. And easily influenced. If she wants to do something bad,she must do it with conviction, which she doesn't.

She does remind me a lot of 90s heroines in bollywood. The rebellious daughters of wealthy fathers.

And the reason I asked if Afzal ever smiled is bcoz Im starting to get bored of his sulking face (Dont hit me. I feel bad for him,I do. ) But I want to see some variation in him. Show some anger atleast. Show some other emotion too.

Hmm,so tomorrow's episode looks interesting. How far off are with the actual episodes? has it crossed 15 actual episodes atleast ?

Btw ek aur heroine hai? Hain? 🤓

I want a bitchy 2nd heroine. Who would show Farah her place 🤪

I understand.. It's still too early. About her not being younger, I think it's deliberate. See, she is not only shown as a university going girl, but also as an elder sister. And many times her younger sister is shown displaying more maturity than her. I think it s to highlight her immaturity. After all, you might expect childish tantrums from a younger girl, but from a girl her age, there's something off. And that 'off' is what her character is all about.

Yeah she does resemble those 90's heroines, but those 90's heroines are going to look like angels in front of her. At least they saw the 'light' within a 3 hour movie. Farah is going to drag you kicking and screaming throughout, up until the very end 😆

Afzal's attitude will change somewhat after he leaves Hyderabad. That's coming soon.

And yes there is another heroine. And she is pretty interesting 😆

HOW COULD I HAVE NOT REPLIED TO SUCH AN EXCELLENT POST BASED ON AN EPISODE WHICH I LOVE TO BITS FOR MAKING ME EVERY TIME? 😭 ❤️ I think the thing I love the most about this post is that it covers every scene that hit me right in the feels 😳 For me, this post is the best on the thread so far 👏 Can you do this for every significant episode? 😃 Seriously discussing this drama is making me love it so much more and this post made me think things that I hadn't thought of before 😳

Well, thank you, thank you! ☺️ 😆 I felt like writing a book on it because it's one of the most interesting episodes for me, this and the upcoming couple of them. I'll try doing this for all the ones I find are crucial for the story 😊 I know what you mean about noticing little things that you hadn't before because someone else does. I noticed a few from your previous and this post too 😃

Scene no 1 where she baisti-fies him in front of his family is dil toots scene for me 💔 The way he closes his eyes as if bracing himself as soon as she starts talking, I'm like 😭

This! That eye closing scene. Ufff! I felt so bad for him. It was like he was thinking, "Okay, I knew this was coming but maannn, it hurts!"

That second scene of Moulvi Sahib and his wife is so touching. His care and concern for her makes my heart melt and how tries to mellow down her anger is just so sweet ❤️ And yes like you pointed it out it does seem like he is focusing all his energy on her so that he doesn't have time to wallow in sadness himself

"Lekin mein kya karta, Sajid? Dil agar bewafai karay to bewafai karni parti hai." You've explained this line so well 👏

Timmy and Saajid. I like the latter so much better 😃 Timmy is 😕 Khair when Afzal cries at the end, that was the first time I cried properly wala while watching this drama. Yaar his tears are so natural and bloodshot eyes and all. He was so hurt at that point and you want to punch his friends for not realizing it but then again, Afzal had never disclosed anything substantial about Farah to them so I don't think they ever realized the extent of his love for her 😕

Yeah, I found his convo with his friends very significant too. These were people who were closest to him, who knew of all his faults. And he couldn't even share this with them. The only thing he could do in the end was cry silently. 😭 I remember the reason he once gave for not telling anyone who writes the letters - he didn't want people to feel sorry for him 😔

This dialogue was for me, one of the most heart-wrenching dialogues of this serial. The way he says "Maara to gaya hun. Abba phir maareingay kya?" I iterally felt my heart breaking for him. Btw this was the dialogue I was mentioning when I said I had been watching one of his dialogues over and over again, marveling at the perfection of its deliverance by Hamza 👏👏 He was flawless in the way he utters this 👏

I know. One of the most memorable dialogues. 👏

So perfectly explained >> The scene where he is walking home alone in the rain showed how alone he was, just because he couldn't share his real sorrow with anyone, neither family nor friends, nor Farah herself.
^^ I didn't think of it in this direction. No wonder I felt so unbearably sad seeing him in this scene 😭 It's like I hadn't had this figured out in my head but my heart knew so it ached for him 😆

Yeah, I was pretty sad too. But didn't know why. But then on my third watch 😆 I realized he is just coming from his friend's place where he couldn't tell them what exactly is hurting him so much. And now he is on his way home where again he can't share his pain with anyone. Moreover, he has to convince them to let him leave Hyderabad without telling them exactly why. He is taking all these big, life changing decisions without confiding in anyone, discussing or taking advice from anyone because taking names would mean him compromising on his principles. A person in such a situation would be feeling VERY lonely. 😒
