Couldn't log in yesterday as I was in transit, so I'll talk about yesterday's episode first, which I just saw on Zindagi's web site..
This and the next couple of episodes are pretty important for the plot.
Heart-broken, Afzal finally decides to tell his parents he wants to leave Hyderabad and go to Karachi. Again there is a reference to his "dil bewafai karay to bewafai karni parti hai" dialogue from previous episode when he tells them that he knew Farah would refuse when he took them there.
We also see that Afzal doesn't do anything unless his conscience is clear about it. So he asks his father if it's jaaiz for him to love a girl who doesn't love him back. And only rests when he gets an answer in the affirmative. His parents are understandably confused as they believe that Afzal is in a relationship with another girl who writes him letters, while he is proposing marriage to Farah, and hence is cheating on the first girl.
They are also understandably angry at him, but are even more crushed on hearing of his intended move to Karachi. He is their only son and very precious to every member of their family. He gets yet another slap from his mother 😆, this time Moulvi sahab scolding her about it. "Ab usay kya maarna jo apni hijrat se dara ke humein maar dega!" His dialogues portray the helplessness of parents when their grown up kid decides to do something so drastic.
Afzal: Mein apni kismat azmanay ja raha hun Abba.
Moulvi sahab: To phir kismet azmao na beta, humein na azmao. Hum se to bas ye chhoti chhoti azmaishein letay raho. Phir le jao kisi larki ke ghar. Hum chalay jayengay. Inkar sun kar wapas aa jayengay aur neend ki goli kha ker so bhi jayengay. Aaj bhi neend ki goli khai hui hai humnay. Lekin hum dono ko neend nahi aayi. Pata hai kyun? Tum ghar nahi aaye thay na. Ab tum aa gaye ho to dekhna kaisay goli asar karti hai.
Here, a huge round of applause for Khalil ur Rehman Qamar for penning these dialogues👏

In this episode, we get another glimpse of Farah's character. After creating a scene, and getting a good hearing from her sister, it's not like, "Whatever, thank God my problem is over!" and she goes to sleep. Instead, she stays up all night. So her conscience is very much alive, she just can't connect to it emotionally. Of course when Lubna asks her about it, she says she couldn't sleep because of happiness, that she dealt with him in a way he deserved. But she looked anything but happy when Lubna first approached her!😆

It's not that she especially feels bad for Afzal. In fact, she still blames him for everything and feels she is in the right and he shouldn't have brought his parents to her home. She and Lubna of course don't know that the real reason is because Afzal actually loves her. They believe he did it to blackmail her into getting more money. And if one thinks about it, what else are they supposed to think? How are they supposed to know the real reason?
I love how Afzal's mother always acts so tough and then as soon as she hears he isn't at home, instantly drops the act. "Mujhse wada le lo Moulvi sahab, ab thappar nahi maroongi usay."
In this episode we also hear for the first time Afzal's desire to become a 'baraa aadmi', which he confides in his friend Timmy, who finds it a ridiculous notion.😆
This desire of becoming Baraa Aadmi is going to dictate the rest of Afzal's life from here on.
In the end, we see Farah's parents talking about Afzal, and learn why her father is so concerned about Afzal. Afzal has really impressed him, and he completely understands the rarity of such people. Deep down he KNOWS Afzal cannot cheat them.
"Meray abba kaha kartay thay ke mardo'n mein mard ko dhoond lena aisa hai jaisay tarboozo'n ke dhair mein woh tarbooz dhoond lena jo ander se laal ho."
And Farah's dad knows he has that quality of seeing Afzal for who he really is.
