Inspite of himself, he cannot fathom this new Khirad who once was his highly dependent, innocent and emotional wife. He has hundred questions playing in his mind, but his ego refrains him to ask any of them. And hence, unknowingly so, he provokes Khirad. In his subconscious, he has somewhere realized that he has wronged her, himself, and their daughter. But he is not ready to accept that fact. He is constantly trying to peek behind the cloak of a stranger that Khirad has worn, but least does he know that what he is trying to provoke is now an icy wall, only to be aroused with care and concern for her daughter.

I love how subtly and yet poignantly the post leap elements and dimensions have been brought on screen, an absolutely brilliant piece of work!

You seriously have the best analysis on Humsafar, spot on! 👏 Love reading your take.

The review is so well written . Thanks Sana for sharing ot. I never these reviews somehow , I guess it was posted later after completion of the series.

Two things which made me say wow for the rebiew- one is that mentioning fathers are always more protective, more sensitive towards their daughter and Asher just had shown that side of a possesive, protective father but he is also the one who did not remember khirad is dome one 's daughter too. Epi 13, khirad saying kahan hai aap abbu, aake dekhe ki aapki beti haar rahi hai, broke my heart. So a big thumbs up for this point.

Secomd is how juvenile Asher was by constantly reacting harshly, taunting and even being ignorant to khirad's existence just to show his frustration and actually trying to evoke reaction from khirad which she refused to give. And I love her this approach as I mentioned it earlier here, khirad was like I do not love or hate you I nothing you. So keep shouting, reacting, cribbing, I give a damn. More she refused, more instigated Asher became and finally that outburst tomorrow waqt -e samjhuta. I love those scenes. But they do have the maturity to tackle their dynamics to protect Hareem. So another lovely point.

And last but not the least, thanks reviewer for mentioning that Fawad owe his superstar status and popularity not because he is another good looking, charming guy, shining onscreen for his appearance but its his talent and acting chops which is the major contributor to make him what he is yoday. He knows his craft well and uses his strength powerfully with dedication and it shows on screen. That office scene and his breaking down and then recollecting own self to immediately take the role of a responsible father of an ailing chikd is so flawlessly portrayed, that ots difficult not to appreciate him for the kind of actor he is. I think for me its one of the best scenes enacted by Fawad in his entire career. The reviewer echoed my thoughts regarding that and for that I really appreciate her.

This was one of the scene which stood out for me , His cry and then controlling it , that time his expressions and then calling Raza , his voice choking . Fawad is brilliant in that scene , not a easy one , excelled himself . One scene from ZGH also stands out for me when Kashaf tells him that she wants to come home and he just wiping tear drop, says softly Aa jao. It was done very subtly . But that single moment is enough to tell his love for her . I like him more in intense emotionally charged scenes where he just sails smoothly . When Asking his mother ,where is Khirad ? first softly then raging like inferno but still never appeared loud . .

that aa jao scene and Fk's acting is another favourite of mine Neerja, that whole scene but will not write much about that as its Humsafar discussion thread.

SPOILER ALERT - in upcoming episodes we have Khirad thinking about leaving her daughter with Asher. Although this can be justified by better treatment for her - it does raise questions whether Khirad considers it ok that Hareem should grow up in what could be an oppressive atmosphere for her (if nothing else she will be all alone against the mother-in-law). There could be issues of safety for the daughter. So leaving her suggests a level of trust in Asher (vs. his mother) - which is not justifiable (yet) in the play (although it may be later).
Also it ignores the toll it could take on the daughter if the mother is missing - a parent would think about such (and usually also exaggerate their importance for their child perhaps ?).

However, it could be argued - that a more worldly-wise person COULD consider using this as a pressure tactic on the husband KNOWING he will not be able to cope with Hareem - but that is not the nature of Khirad as suggested by the play. However it could have been evoked IF there was some suggestion that Khirad is getting more and more irritated at being considered irrelevant (now that the all-powerful father has taken over) - or if the mother-in-law were to intervene as someone who can replace the mother. In such a scenario it could have been envisioned that the mother would "threaten" (and show her real power) - by depriving her presence for a little bit - as a show of force - i.e. knowing that her daughter could not live without her.

In any case - this part seemed a bit not completely justified by the play - although it could be excused - since play has to whittle down the scenes from the book - and in real life also people are not always completely logical or consistent.

between can I just say that few scenes between Asher and Hareem reminded me of my own childhood? specially Asher coming back from wrk, and shouting her name and daddy's little girl rushing and jumping to reach his arm. it was so real for me that I relived my past moments too . I guess we all like to remain that daddy's little girl always and thanks for that connectivity makers.

Thank you, mutual feeling 😃

In fact, I love reading and writing on this thread so much. Every little detail is discussed in depth, and the variety of analysis that I get to read gives me a newer insight on every scene! And of course, FK's fangirling is so much more enjoyable 😆😳

Her decision isn't rational and she does regret it.. Khirad thinks that Hareen growing up with Asher guarantees security in terms of her not having to go through what Khirad had. It comes down to the class difference. She thinks Hareem being accustomed to a better more grander lifestyle equals to not having face the hardships and struggles which Khirad did and she'd be treated as an equal with respect, like Sara and Asher were growing up.
