Ah Kanks thats a very well written post.
Before saying anything at all about the show, let me clear one thing-I disliked the show 😆 Even before I had begun watching it. I read an overview and immediately found it very repelling. I cannot bring myself to even consider Sanam-a sister. I have a sister of my own and I love her to bits and ofcourse its the same with her. We'd NEVER EVER do something as vicious as this. So,no,I cannot bring myself to grow fond of the storyline.
That being said, one thing I noticed about Maat, was the fact that with each episode, they built some sort of curiosity. Not interest exactly, just plain curiosity to know what would happen next. How sick can Sanam get,how much pain can Aiman actually swallow. So,thats a positive for a show,I think.
Also,I SORT OF liked the 2-3 episodes towards the end.I'll tell you why. Coz the basic moral which came out in the end was the fact that even though Aiman suffered through out her life, even after Faisal ditched her at that stage of her life,Hadid stayed with her. And not with his parents.
When she said "Yeh Sheh-Maat hai Sanam",I felt a sense of...I wouldnt call it happiness. A sense of relief I guess. Hope as well,in a way. There might actually be some truth in "Achche logon ke saath achcha hota hai"-well not exactly. It could be re-phrased as "bure logon ke saath bura ho kar hi rehta hai."
So,yeah. Thats about it. Still,I wouldnt call Maat,a show that I liked. I would have appreciated the show more,if the sister rivalry was thrown out of the window.
Btw,Aamina and Saba are phenomenal actresses! Both were brilliant. 👏
