“Monu bro, tu aajkal bohot boring ban chuki hai.” Sid complained. “In fact you are turning into boring Shergill!”

Monami couldn’t believe Sid was comparing her to Khadoos Shergill. They had one day off training and she just wanted to sleep the entire day. Sid wanted everyone to go to the bar and Monami didn’t want to go. She wanted to relax, and she was also scared that Khadoos Shergill might find out and taunt her.

“Main boring nahi hu. Bas tired hu. I’m sure sab rest karna chahte hai.” Monami said.

“Guys tum sab rest karna chahte ho ya phir do you wanna party?” Sid asked everyone. The answer came unanimously. They all wanted to party. Monami couldn’t believe no one was scared of Karan. Was he tougher on her than with everyone else? “Monu bro you used to be so much fun. College days mein hum almost everyday party karte the. Whole night parties. Tu sober se zyada talli rehti thi.”

“First of all, meri tabiyat kharab ho gayi thi tere saath itni party karke and second of all, main abhi bhi party kar sakti hu par Khadoos Shergill humari class lega agar use pata chal gaya toh.” Monami said.

“Humari chutti hai bro. Hum kuch bhi kar sakte hai.” Sid said. “Aur hume bar jana hai toh hum jayenge. Tu na seriously uske jaisi banti ja rahi hai. Agreed guys?”

“Waise sach kahe Monami, toh tum sachhi unki tarah banti ja rahi ho. Thodi si boring…” Sumanji said.

Monami gasped. They really thought she was boring, and they were comparing her with Karan Shergill. It was preposterous! She was nothing like that. She knew how to have fun! And she was going to show them.

“Monami we are going, tum aao ya na aao.” Koel said.

“Main chalungi.” Monami decided.

“Chal na Karan!” Faizi said.

“Nahi. Tum dono ko jana hai toh jao.” Karan said.

Faizi wanted to go to a bar. Karan just wanted to train. He spent all week training the recruits, now it was time to concentrate on his own training.

“Tune woh kahawat nahi suni, ‘all work, no play makes Karan a dull boy’.” Faizi laughed. “Chal na, Sanjana ne bhi Haa kaha hai. Pure hafte unn namuno ko train karne ke baad thoda sa break toh banta hai.”

Karan glared at Faizi for a second. Then he decided to go. Faizi was right. He had spent a week with those namunas and he deserved a break, just for tolerating them.

“A round of shots…” Sid got a tray with shots for all of them.

“Sumanji drink nahi karti.” Sumanji blushed. “Bas honeymoon ke time apne husband ke saath ek peg lagayi thi par Sumanji ki tabiyat kharab ho gayi uske baad.”

“Koi baat nahi Suman ji aap mocktail piyo.” Sid ordered a mocktail for her.

Monami was still feeling a little nervous about being here. Obviously it was their day off, and Karan had no say to what they should do, but she knew he was going to be mad when he heard that she was at a party. He already believed she wasn’t serious about this training.

“Kaash Sanjana yaha hoti..” Sid said. “Tujhe lagta hai main bulata toh woh aati?”

“Tujhe thappad zaroor maarti, aur shayad teri haddiyan bhi tod deti.”

“Haa meri Ms. Todfod hai hi aisi..”

“Sid!”

“Achha fine. Main Sanjana ke baare mein nahi bolunga. Only if tu dole shole ke baare mein sochna bandh kare aur party enjoy kare.”

“Haa yaar Monami. Tum yaha uss Karan Shergill ki tarah sadu shakal banake baithi ho.” Koel said.

“Fine! Main uske baare mein nahi sochungi. Aur tum log mujhe uss khadoos Shergill se compare karna bandh karo.”

Monami gulped down her shot to show them she was ready to party. Then she took Sumanji’s shot as well.

“Wooooo! My bro is back!!! Let’s rock this party!” Sid shouted.

Part 2

“Whiskey on the rocks.” Karan ordered.

“Dekha kitni achhi jagah hai.” Faizi said. “Aur unn namuno se bhi durr. Shanti… Waise saare namune nahi hai, apni Monami aur Koel thik hai.”

“Uss Chirkoot se chutkara mila yahi bohot hai.” Sanjana said. “Jab dekho humare laane chipakta rehta hai.”

Karan looked around. The music was a little bit too loud for his taste. But he was happy as long as he was away from those namoonas and Monami tsunami. The least he deserved was one day of peace. But someone in the universe was conspiring against it. His eyes landed on Sid who was standing and talking loudly to someone. Slowly he saw everyone, one by one.

“Namoone!”

Faizi followed Karan’s gaze and found the recruits on the booth behind them. Sanju hit her head when she saw them. Right that moment, Sid’s eyes landed on the trio.

“Oh shit!” He cried out. The rest of the recruits saw the trio and immediately stopped whatever they were doing.

It was an awkward moment for both the groups. The recruits were stunned to see the trio whereas the trainers were disappointed to see the trainees. Sid was mesmerised to see Sanjana in a dress. She looked beautiful, even though she looked angry. His feet automatically carried him to the table where Sanjana was sitting. Sanjana glared at him but he didn’t stop. He offered her his hand.

“Dance?” He asked.

Sanjana was stunned at his audacity while Faizi was impressed. Karan decided to sip his whiskey in peace.

“Sid tu wapas aa jaa.” Prem called out.

“Waise tum bohot beautiful lag rahi ho.” Sid said.

Sanjana was shocked. No one called her beautiful in her life. She finally got up from her chair and held his hand. She twisted it, but Sid was so lost in her that he didn’t care. Faizi didn’t want to be thrown out of the bar so he got up and pulled Sanjana away from Sid. He also didn’t want the evening to go to waste, especially when he worked so hard to convince Karan and Sanajana to come here.

“Guys, mujhe pata hai aap sab yaha enjoy karne aaye ho apne trainers se dur.” He addressed the whole group. “But jab hum sab yaha hai toh let’s enjoy together. Aaj na aap humare recruits aur na hum aapke trainers. What say?”

The recruits cheered but Sanjana and Karan looked mad. Faizi decided to ignore those two and focus on Koel. She was the only person who seemed somewhat sober.

“Kya yeh nacheez aapke saath dance karne ki gustakhi kar sakta hai?” Faizi asked. “You owe me a dance.”

Koel had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. “Abhi mujhe dance karne ka koi mood nahi hai.”

Karan smiled at the spectacular way in which Faizi failed. Then his eyes started searching for her. He hadn’t seen her with the group. Did she not come? He looked at everyone in the group but Monami was nowhere to be seen. He wanted to ask someone, but he also couldn’t ask anyone.

“Teri aankhein kise dhoond rahi hai?” Faizi asked.

“Kisiko bhi nahi.” He took another sip.

“Chal main tera kaam aasan kar deta hu.” Faizi said. “Doctor Monami kaha hai?” He asked the group.

“Monami? Kaha hai Monami?” Suman asked. “Sid ji Monami kaha hai?”

Sid looked around. “Yahi thi. Maybe washroom gayi hai. I don’t know. Aa jayegi. Don’t worry.”

Karan scoffed. Some fiancé he was! This guy couldn’t even keep track of where Monami was. How would he ever take care of her? What did she see in this guy? He was always busy flirting with Sanjana. Even right now, he was busy staring at her, not caring where Monami was. Karan got up to go look got her but Sumanji found her.

“Woh rahi Monami!” She pointed out.

Karan looked at that direction to find Monami dancing on the dance floor. She was grooving to the music all alone, and for a moment Karan was awestruck. She looked beautiful. Watching her dance this way made him feel peaceful. But the peace was interrupted when he found two men leering at her. His fists curled as he saw one of the guy walking towards her. Karan went to her before he could reach her and pulled her close by her waist. Monami got out of her trance and looked at Karan.

“Khadoos Shergill, tum yaha bhi aa gaye?” She giggled. “Tum mujhe har jagah kyu dikhte ho?” Then she pushed him away. “No no no, sabne mana kiya hai. I’m not going to think about you tonight. I’m just gonna dance.”
