Karthik smirked as he watched Survi walk up to him. She still didn't know that he knew her truth, but it was more satisfying watching her scurry about, perpetually confused.
He pretended to sigh in annoyance,"What is it now, Su- oops, I mean Simmi," Survi trembled in shock, Karthik smirked again.
"Well-"
"Actually, I don't care. Don't you have somewhere to be?" Karthik ignored her completely whilst going through some papers.
"Um okay sir I jus need a leave tommorow for two hours," Survi blurted out quickly, so he would listen to her.
"Leave? What do you need it for?" he asked annoyed with one brow raised.
"Well, actually, a friend of my father wants to bring her son over to meet me. They want us to get married."
Karthik composed himself whilst slowly putting the file he was holding. Sure, Survi ka dhokha he was used to saying, but Survi ka rishta? And dare he say it, Survi ka s-shaadi?
"Sir?"
And weren't marriages supposed to be happy, having a life long companion? His mind flashed back to the time he called Survi was his companion but shook it out of his head. How he could he let Survi have her chance of happiness? How could he make her life a living hell, when she was away from him...living with another man.
Something in this thought made him clench his fists. Probably the idea of her being happy, yknow, because she still had to pay for her betrayal.
"So can I go?"
"No. In fact I forbid it until Aye gets better. We can't have you always going on leave. It's unprofessional at the very l least."
Survi breathed a sigh of relief, and looked at him with grateful eyes. He regarded her with curiosity.
"Why are you so relieved?"
"My father wants me to get married but I didn't know how to say I didn't want to. Now I have a reason not to. Thank you." She smiled peacefully.
Karthik didn't how to respond. It had backfired on him. The thing that would have the most negative impact on Survi would be saying it was fine, she could go. But for some reason he asked her a different question.
"Why don't you want to get married?"
"I love someone else. Oh, it's time to give Aniket his medicine. Thank you for your time." She quickly left to attend to her duties, leaving Karthik behind.
Well then. A whole new range of fury erupted within Karthik, with only one thought on his mind.
