What has happened to my beloved show?

I understand COVID-19 has caused the whole world to change in one way or another, but how did this show that was so progressive turn into a regressive mess about heirs and second marriages. We are in 2020 after all. Are you kidding me? Maybe this does happen in some areas, but I thought these two families to be modern. Daughters-in-law holding down their own businesses, wearing the clothes they choose. I just don’t get it. Mishti who fought tooth and nail for Abir will walk away from her marriage because one doctor tells her she can’t conceive? Asli waaris, fake suicide, forced second marriages? So regressive. I couldn’t wait for my show to come back as this one was my fave. Now I don’t even watch it. What a shame?
