I haven't seen a lot of ITV shows that had married couples and the ones that I have seen usually revolved around the 'son balancing between wife and mother' trope.

But but but...I do have a favourite husband/partner in the shows that I have seen. It's Kabir from Nisha aur uske cousins. The show ended a few months after they got married but the way they met, fell in love and the way they both supported each other through everything has my heart. They truly gave life to a bond based on friendship and trust which later turned into love. Also, it is one of the few shows where the FL after getting rejected by her first love moved on with another guy even though the first guy was kind of still in the picture. It was the last ITV show before this that I wholeheartedly watched everyday.

Hello people! smiley31

Have been having a war of words with my sister all this while ki likhne ka time hi nahi mila. But I am finally here so it's going to be a long post because I have a lot to cover.

First of all, Riya, welcome back to the discussion. I was missing your insights and can I just say, what dhamaka!!💥 This comment is for Nikki and Meera as well. Y'all were putting out points after points and damn!🔥🔥🔥 and the HCs were great! Riya, please continue your stories for us!🙇🏻‍♀️

Today's (Yesterday for you guys) discussion made me realise that we have analysed Kuhu's character as much as we could. We know her inside and out. I think the following line by Sam sums up Kuhu very well. It has stuck with me since.

Originally posted by: Samanalyse

Parul's advice to Abir was great. She has actually understood the girls really well -- Kuhu wears her heart on her sleeve and Mishti is an overthinker. This is why this battle (not against Kuhu but against her own insecurities) is always going to be harder for Mishti. All Kuhu needs to be happy and secure is a loving, supportive environment; if she has that, her 'bachpana' manifests as the innocence and the carefree attitude that allows her to spread joy to everyone and bring humour out in even the most reserved people (Kunal and Meenu being case in point). When she feels insecure, that same bachpana manifests as these impulsive, harmful acts.

Now, the time has come for Kunal. We have been waiting for him to step into the light since the birth truth episode and discover himself and even though we haven't really gotten an out and out different personality, we are starting to see the little moments where he does what he really feels like rather than actively playing a role (like I mentioned yesterday: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/153004205 ). And though, I agree that none of us are liking those small moments where he shuts Kuhu out and disses her infront of the family, I will also point out that we liked the Kunal that is vulnerable and tries to build a relationship by taking baby steps, as seen most in case of Parul. We are still yet to see the character develop and that makes me look forward to this story each day because there is so much scope here.

Now, talking about today's episode, I think you guys covered almost everything that I could possibly think of. I'm just gonna quote some of them below and add in my thoughts as I go.

The Convenient Wife - Kuhu Kunal Rajvansh (this is strictly looking at Kuhu's character as a type of wife she has been). Even though Kunal wants to be the #perfecthusband, he has made zero efforts. He acts so annoyed at Kuhu's dislike for Mishti, which surprises me because he was the first one Kuhu shared her feelings with. Yet he is not able to spend 5 minutes talking to Kuhu, understand where her insecurities are coming from and why Mishti has taken over her mind.

Given that, I realized that Kunal is not acting out of character, he can't change just because he said he wants to. He only puts efforts in certain relationships, especially the ones that Abir wants.

Evidence #1- Abir pushing him towards Parul Massi, Kunal obliged.

Evidence #2- Mishti, now that Abir and Mishti are married and Kunal realizes her importance in Abir's life.

Evidence# 3 (some of you might disagree)- The reason Kunal hasn't shown much effort in KuKu relationship is because Abir hasn't pushed him (at least not enough). I mean Abir has always kind of let Kunal off when it comes to Kuhu and his relationship. He never had an outburst on Kunal when he found out that he married Kuhu to break Mishbir. I mean come on Abir has slapped Kunal for saying bad things to Mishti, yet whenever KuKu's loveless marriage was brought up, he kind of brushed it off or haven't had a real conversation with Kunal. Even the haldi ceremony it wasn't a conversation on what has happened it was just like oh you don't want Kuhu to go, well lets act on this plan. He didn't even let Kunal express on why he wanted Kuhu to stay back, he just assumed Kunal has fallen love with her, WRONG. To me it seems Abir again rushed to assumptions and Kunal without thinking acted on the plan. Does this mean that I want Abir to meddle between KuKu, NO not at all. I want the FL and ML to leave them alone, in all of their relationships and decisions.

1st paragraph - 💯

2nd paragraph - I am the rare soul one who is in disagreement here. I don't think every one of Kunal's relationships here depend on Abir's insistence. Yes, Abir's validation plays a major role in Kunal's life but what we're seeing here is only and only Kunal. The few recent scenes where we've seen Kunal shut Kuhu but mostly the one today reminded me of Kunal from the early episodes. Then, he used to tune her out when she would talk about things he did not care about. Now, Kuhu's opinions and thoughts directly affect his life. He can't tune her out and directly tell her that he will do as he likes so, he is choosing to show her that her feelings for other people (Mishti or be it anyone) is not going to bring about a change in his behaviour. He has ever given that place to his brother (and Meenu when she is able to convince him that her steps are for Abir's betterment).

This thought just hit me: Abir's feelings are a priority whereas Meenu's judgement holds the second place. Still need to flesh this thought out. Anyone care to weigh in??

He sees his marriage as a one-way street for him to bring all of his worries and frustrations to Kuhu so that she can provide him with free therapy and counseling. Lekin jab baat aati Kuhu ki, then he just doesn't want to waste any time listening to her. This is INCREDIBLY annoying. He clearly expects the epitome of a perfect wife and daughter-in-law from Kuhu, but we all know that she's just not that type of girl. And if Kunal had spent a little bit more time observing her and getting to know her before he jumped the gun and remarried her, then he would have known to not expect that from her. He's so obsessed with this idea of a "picture-perfect" family that he refuses to see anything beyond it.

Although I hate what Kuhu said to Mishti and how she's behaving with her, and especially hate her nasty talk about Parul being a servant and all, I could completely empathize with her when she was speaking to Kunal. She wasn't wrong. Kunal could have confided in his wife who he's been married to for months, especially when he knows that she will understand his situation, and when he knows that she will always, always have HIS best interests at heart before anyone else. But no. He had to go running to his bhabhi of five minutes for advice, and he had to go to his brother who is clearly so short-sighted that he can't see beyond the happiness of a single person in a tightly-knit family.

And then when he went to sleep on the couch? Really, Kunal? He calls his wife immature, but then proceeds to refuse to sleep next to her just to get back at her for getting on his nerves? Kunal deserves the award for being the World's Greatest A-Grade Hypocrite. When he went on and on and on about how much he disliked Mishti at the beginning, Kuhu not only supported him, but helped him through it, and never tried to shut him up. But when Kuhu is telling him that she doesn't trust Mishti, and that she's stressed out and anxious about it, then for god's sake, Kunal, just LISTEN to the girl. Even if you don't agree with her, you at least owe her the decency of being a good listener. That is literally the definition of marriage.

And then the flask waali baat. Was Kunal actually being serious? What the hell was that? This just establishes the fact that if Kuhu is a super immature and childish brat, then Kunal is just a big baby. There was absolutely no need to embarrass Kuhu like that in front of everyone. If Kuhu wants to give her husband coffee in the morning, then let her give him the damn coffee. It's clear that Kuhu is still upset that Mishti got all of the credit for being a brilliant bhabhi, bahu, and person yesterday (Parul's saari, Kunal's grand gesture, blah blah), so if doing this will make her feel like she is still of use, then let her do it!

Kuhu is childish and immature. I am not justifying her actions at ALL. What she did in MA's room today was WRONG, and it's high time she recognize her wrongdoings. But if there is anyone else to be blamed in this whole situation, I would point to Kunal, Abir, and Mishti. They do not, and will never know how to handle conflict in a healthy way. All they know is how to slap a bandaid on it and call it pretty.

If this episode solidified my belief in anything, it is this belief that Kunal doesn't love Kuhu. He just loves the idea of her being the perfect wife, the perfect daughter-in-law, the perfect devrani. If I were Kuhu, I would have left him a long time ago. This girl deserves her epic love story. Like, NOW.

@Bold - 💯

I am not really sure what I want to write here because I agree and disagree with many points here, mostly agree. I probably don't have much to write but here I go!

I think I mostly covered what I feel about Kunal's behaviour in today's episode above but I have more to add. I was very annoyed with way he behaved with Kuhu. Totally should not have shut her out and tried to hear her out. Coming to him seeking Mishti's advice, I get it. I found his reason to be valid and I guess, so did Kuhu but she hated that he went to Mishti. Loved your HC, btw. Totally would have wanted to see that.

The flask scene irked me too. What the hell was that? Why does he keep insulting her in public?? WTH, dude? Are you dumb? Also, I had found it really weird the way Mishti smiled but then I saw Sam's comment about "someone giving it back to Kuhu" and that made sense so that's that.

I have to say that whatever Kuhu does now in her angered state doesn't surprise me because I expect her to do that. Didn't she do something similar when she had gotten annoyed at Mishti before marriage? I mean the throwing stuff around part. But yeah, her behaviour doesn't annoy or surprises me because it seems to be in line with how the character has been shown till now. There was a lot of growth after leap because Mishti wasn't in the picture for a few months and they had parted on good terms before she returned.

This FL vs "Vamp" Kuhu track will end with Kuhu's role in Shivaratri coming out, ( I am sure writers will make Kuhu's character do many other things to show contrast with the FL's flawlessness), Abir finally realising that FL was right all along about big bad Kuhu, Kunal breaking all ties with Kuhu ( because his bhai and bhabhi now think Kuhu is bad, so Kunal will automatically try to get Kuhu out of their lives) and finally Kuhu begging in front of Kunal to take her back. There will be no redemption for all the things that Kunal did to Kuhu and he will never pine for her. Abir and FL will finally tell Kunal to tell to get Kuhu back because they think they should not stoop to her level. Kunal will bring her back after a 0.2 second conversation because his bhai and bhabhi want him to bring her back.smiley11 And finally, Kuhu will be indebted to the FL for giving her Robot husband back ( who will start to ignore her 1 second after she comes back to his life) smiley29

There I go again with all my bitterness and negativity. This was the reason I stayed away from the AT for the last couple of days. I feel like I end up bumming everyone out with my pessimism. smiley36

Wow!!!smiley37

You didn't bum me out at all. We're all thinking this. You just had the guts to pen it down. I am hoping the writers don't go along this route because that would mean that I know how the writers think and I would stop watching. The only thing I would change here is Kuhu being indebted. I am hoping to see her leave by the time something like this happens.

It's ironic how within that one scene he acts as a hypocrite. He starts with saying, "jo maine bigaada hai, main usse thik karna bhi janta hun" and then he says "tumhe ek aur reason de raha hun Mishti ko hate karne ka" and goes to sleep on the couch without trying to right the wrong.

What he expected when he said the first line was that Kuhu will melt and they wont need to have a discussion. Since Kuhu didnt react that way, he disregarded her and went to bed (couch).

I am so tempted to agree wholeheartedly here but I just read Nami's post and I do see the progression but that hug seemed so 😖😖. Stop asking her for help and support if you're not willing to provide her with the same!

Today for the first time, I am actively furious with Kunal. That stunt he pulled in the morning with the coffee was cruel and below the belt, intended deliberately to hit Kuhu where it hurts the most. smiley7

Kuhu said some horrible things too, but she crossed a line in a desperate attempt to communicate her fears with him, and she realised and apologised immediately. I am yet to see Kunal realise and apologise when he's publicly humiliated her. What to do? For Kunal everything continues to be about him and his bhaiyopia.

Kuhu definitely crossed a line, but there is a difference between something tumbling out in the heat of the moment in a *private* conversation and a pre-meditated move to humiliate and hurt your spouse in public using your privileged knowledge of their biggest insecurity. Kunal gets to be as angry as he wants for as long as he wants behind closed doors, but the moment he drags their dirty laundry out in the open, he completely loses my sympathy . That's where I draw the line.

That said, I am so glad we finally got a confrontation! There was some truth even to Kuhu's harshest dialogues, and her insecurities make perfect sense to me. Now, not only does she have to worry about being second fiddle, she has to worry about disowned by the family entirely!

Someone please put these bade Maheshwaris in a museum. How glibly BP ignored Jasmeet's very valid points, and passed on the responsibility of fixing their mistakes to Abir and Kunal. They are constantly amazing me with the new and unfathomable depths of their irresponsible parenting. smiley44

@Bold - 💯🔥

Oh, the last paragraph!!!🔥🔥🔥

These bade Maheshwaris are so so annoying!! Jasmeet finally said her concerns in seedhe words and that too after asking their permission. These people don't even care! The funniest part in all of this was that these people don't trust their own parenting. They trust the brothers more than they trust their own values which is basically saying that Meenakshi did better job than they ever could. They don't trust the women but they sure do trust her parvarish. Isn't that interesting??🤨

This. Is precisely what makes this whole thing so depressing. You know you are watching a regressive show when the "villains" also happen to be the most liberated female characters, and the "heroes" are the ones who desperately strive to hold up the facade of happy patriarchy. So basically they are saying practical women who ask the tough questions and challenge the status quo are..*gasp* evil. I'll pass on that particular moral lesson, thanks. smiley24

Kunal expected Kuhu to declare her love and fight for him when that video of Mishti slapping him leaked -- the day after he had served her divorce papers. And now he's flying off the handle because she, the wife he promised to make his priority, mind you, said that for her to be there for him, he had to stop going to Mishti for advice. This was not an unreasonable request -- this was Kuhu asking her husband to help her the way he wanted her to help him.

All this time I was cutting Kunal slack because Kuhu wasn't communicating. Well, today she did and he couldn't even handle the tip of the iceberg.

I posted this Marilyn Monroe quote wrt Kuhu a few weeks back and it feels more relevant than ever:

I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.”

I want to emblazon this on their bedroom wall. smiley7

You literally said everything and more!! I don't have anything to add. You can just imagine me nodding my head vigorously agreeing with every word in this post.

looks like all shoots have been stopped from today itself, saw a post on insta🤢

kaveri's insta post sort of confirms that they don't have enough episode bank to telecast till 31st, so we might get re-runs of older episodes😊

@aqua: writers will get more time now, hope they utilise it wiselysmiley4

I'm calling you PF (peace and fun) if you don't mind 😳

Writers will utilize the time and think through? I wish they rewind old KuKu scenes and come up with something nice and out of the box.

In recent years the concept of angry, brooding male lead has become very popular on ITV. The characteristics are very typical. The character is always super-rich, handsome, doesn't believe in love and most importantly he seems to think it is to manhandle the FL. ( which sadly audience finds "romantic" 🤢) I just think that Abir's character is different and better than other typical male leads in this regard.

I have not watched the show that you have mentioned but I have seen some scenes online. That show looks good. I have tried to watch many ITV shows over the years but always leave it after a few episodes because stories are mostly the same. Even with this show, I don't find the main leads story interesting because it's very run of the mill.

@aqua: your post is very thorough and so now I'm less angry at Kunal. It obviously doesn't help that I don't watch the episodes any longer so I miss the context completely😆.

I thought about watching the last few episodes but I feel like it's going to leave a bad taste and frankly with everything so depressing right now, I'd rather not.

I'm kinda confused with the dance clip and kidnapping story. Like they can't eventually find kunal abir and then out of the blue burst into a dance. Plus apparently they don't have enough epis till 31st so how do they plan to show all this?
