JSK people of the forum!!πŸ™πŸΌ

Last week, everyone discussed the infamous slap and the reasons behind it but no one talked about the heart-wrenching scene where Kuhu cries out for her mother to stop and listen to her. During the build up towards the final divorce day, Kuhu had mentioned her mother not being able to handle the truth multiple times. The most prominent one being after the NishMish roka: "Meri mumma daadi jitni strong nahi hai").

That "Mumma!..Maa!" scene was discussed in the KuKu AT because of the following Instagram post.

The post below prompted me to think the reason why Kuhu doesn't share her inner feelings completely with her mother including this marriage secret is because somewhere she is protective of her bond with Varsha (and family, I guess). She knows how difficult it must have been for Varsha to accept her (I didn't watch those yrkkh episodes when she found out but I'm told it was difficult for Varsha). Hence #keepitseperate.

And then @samanalyse came with her theory and analysis of their relationship (which I shared with Kaveri in an Instagram message). The theory is as follows:

Originally posted by: Samanalyse

I fell in love with Kuhu and Varsha's relationship very early in the show and it prompted me to go back and watch as many bits and pieces of YRKKH as I could find with the two of them, as well as the early days of the show, to try and get an idea of Varsha's story. The more I watched, the more I loved sweet, sorted Varsha and all her relationships -- I think her abiding friendship with Akshara has to be my favourite though! I love that they always gave their friendship priority over the bhabhi-nanad relationship. smiley27

I wrote this analysis in a PM to a friend around September, and that heartbreaking "mumma--ma" scene reminded me of it so I thought I'd share it here as well.

I really believe the key to Kuhu's character is Varsha. She loves and admires the heck out of her mom, and emulates her behaviour as much as she can. Varsha not only forgave her husband's infidelity with time, but even accepted Kuhu as her own child. That takes someone with a really big heart. On top of that she fought for Kuhu all her life. In my eyes, Varsha is the sole reason Kuhu is the confident, self-assured girl she is today, and for that reason Kuhu totally idolises her mother. So part of her resentment also comes from seeing how her mom, who is actually much more down to earch and sensible, is constantly treated as subordinate to her grandparents.

And this is where Mishti comes in, because of this really unusual situation, where the grandparents and parents have children of the same age. Mishti, in being the daughter of BM and BP automatically gets a higher position in the family hierarchy with less accountability -- as we see, she only has to answer to BM and BP. Kuhu, is answerable to her parents who are in turn answerable to theirs. I think most of Kuhu's resentment towards Mishti comes from these underlying inequalities -- their clashing personalities added fuel to the fire. Is it Mishti's fault directly? Not always. But does she rile up Kuhu's anger against this underlying inequality and bring out the worst in her with her patronising attitude? Definitely.

Now, if we observe the details closely, we can see that Varsha mostly raised Kuhu to tolerate the inequality in her family for as long as she had to and then get out of it as soon as possible (through marriage). Other than her occasional outbursts, Kuhu did just that in pretending to have this sisterly bond with Mishti. Varsha, for the most part, is extremely pragmatic. She sees that there isn't much scope to challenge BM and BP's authority or their hypocrisy without tearing the whole family apart, so she grits her teeth and pretends to be okay with it, all while equipping Kuhu to really shine once she is free of this household. This is why Varsha and Kuhu were so eager for her marriage right from the beginning of the show -- they lived their lives, trying not to raise their voices, not rebelling, pretending everything was great, with the single goal to get Kuhu out of this toxic environment as soon as possible (it's a totally different set of questions as to why marriage was the only way to do this, but I am thinking here within in the universe of the show, where that seems to be a given).

This is why Kuhu can't just walk out on this marriage so easily. She knows this wedding is the culmination of Varsha's lifetime of work, tolerating inequality and fighting for her, and this relationship with the RVs breaking would essentially render all of that work obsolete. That is also why both of them, in full acknowledgment that it was wrong to separate lovers, tried to keep Mishti and Abir apart -- that is just how important this marriage is to both of them: it's supposed to be Kuhu's escape and Varsha's peace of mind. And the thing is, Kuhu was ready for an arranged marriage, meaning she was ready to do the work of getting to know both her husband and his family over time -- so other than Kunal's antagonism (which is not even constant, with all the promising moments), what she is experiencing is exactly what she was prepared for, and so she is shining.

I think this is where the extreme reaction of the slap came from. The one thing Kuhu was most terrified about was hurting her mom or giving her any sense of failure -- she said so to Kunal multiple times. Kuhu would have done just about anything to protect Varsha and just when she thought she would succeed, she had to watch her mom's heart break for absolutely no reason. smiley28

Every time Kuhu tries to sort things out slowly and carefully, Mishti comes tearing through with an impulsive move that ends up in the very destruction Kuhu was trying to avoid. It's not hard to see why she finally lost her patience, especially when that destruction involved the person she loves and admires most in the world this time around. smiley6

Kaveri being the cutie she is responded back after reading it.

Glad you shared it with Kaveri and the forum. Hopefully after an approval from Sam πŸ˜†

I really love the way Sam analyzes the scenes in depth. It actually shows us the light at the end of the dark dark tunnel that makers created for Kuhu's character. Some little things to be happy about.

Varsha and Kuhu's relationship is something I adore and wish more of their scenes are shown in the show.

I hadn't taken Sam's approvalπŸ™ˆ. I had sent a super long message to Kaveri to appreciate the work she has put in to give us our Kuhu and I had mentioned her relationship with Varsha and how I was able to understand the depth of the relationship because of Sam's post and then I attached the link.

After Kaveri replied to my message, I remembered that I had forgotten to give Sam credit for the post so, I did that. I'm glad I did because She opened the link after that message and that's how we have this thread.

I agree!! Sam does an amazing job of analysing the underlying meaning behind the scenes. And so do a lot of other people in the KuKu AT. I get stumped every time I read her analysis, like the Meenu and Kuhu scene yesterday. She gave a completely different perspective to the whole episode 🀯.

I want more scenes too. I want this show to be longer so every character gets more screen space or just the scenes to be written better so that we get to understand every characters' perspective, because if the episodes were longer, our actors would have to work more and they already look super tired in the recent interviews.

You should check out the KuKu AT. It feels like I've become the brand ambassador of the AT. I keep promoting it on every thread but all the members are so cute and insightful. There are more people giving different dimensions to the same scene. My mind gets blown each day🀯.

i adore varsha and kuhu bond but when it comes to kuhu and mishti always kuhu gets favour either on her wedding day due to haldi fisaco or meenu rejected kuhu and the way varsha said mishti like to behave big sis and even today when its mishti's big again kuhu has choosen by family... BP and BM are head of family and yes max number of times mishti never disappointed as kuhu did by saying lies... varsha fought for kuhu and BM for mishti but BM tried to balance kuhu and varsha not that as BM did...

i dont have any problem that always varsha priortise kuhu as a mom she has to do... but whenever it comes to kuku varsha and shourya took decision without even listening to BP as kuhu's first propsal when BP asked them to think as its not needed but varsha and shourya took it after knowing meenu made IT raid and kuhu she just want marriage with kunal at that time and this time also...

Before you read this and think I am taking kisi ek ki side, know that I am big MishKu fan. I am not taking sides and I hope that will be visible in my comment. Their love-hate bond was the reason I started watching the show in the first place.

I don't think Kuhu gets favoured over Mishti. Kuhu suffers because of Mishti's impulsive behaviour, her habit of trying to help everyone on her own using her "Sherlock" skills, and sacrificing her own happiness even when she doesn't need to. And in return, Mishti suffers because of Kuhu's resentment and hurt at being not given equal importance. If I had to guess, I'd say Mishti learnt these traits from Naira and probably the creator of both the characters is the same person. Her heart may be in the right place but her brain is definitely not.

During the KuKu wedding track, she was forced to say those awful things so that Kuhu gets married. Ab yahaan jab impulsive hona tha, wahaan madam muh band kar ke baith gayi. When you know the wedding can be called off any moment and it would be your fault either way (because Mishti knew that Varsha was scared if the truth came out, Meenakshi would call off the wedding), to bata do na that Big Ben knows everything and she wants revenge for you rejecting Kunal. I mean, your sister's whole life hangs in the balance. Shaadi ho jaane se magically sab theek nahi ho jaata. She could have asked for help, advice, anything but she chose to go through it alone and hurt everyone in the process, most of all, Varsha, Kuhu and Shaurya.

Now, BP being the patriarch or as he says "Parivaar ke Mukhiya" has only one tactic to handle any problem: ek ko chot lagi to doosre ko bhi lagni chahiye taaki barabari rahe. So what does he do? He sends Mishti away on Kuhu's request rather than trying to find out the truth. That's such a stupid approach and that's what he keeps doing over and over instead of actually solving the problem. You can't use the same solution for different problems. #NotSameSameButActuallyDifferent #ThinkVishambarThink

Ab in this case scenario, when the family asked Kuhu why she didn't say anything and she said it was because of Mishti's pahaad level problems. They could have told her that this is also a pahaad level problem. When Mishti was getting all the support when dealing with her problems, why did she feel the need to go through it alone? Instead of trying to understand her perspective, appreciate her struggle and finally giving her the support, what do they do? BP asks Shaurya and Varsha to make the decision on her behalf. They don't even ask her what she wants like they repeatedly kept asking Mishti during the NishMish wedding (Mind you, Mishti still kept quiet even after multiple chances and complete support from the family). If she wouldn't have gotten the support from Big Ben and spoken up, she would be divorced by now. And as if the Mandap is a 🍬, the whole family comes and asks Mishti's permission to give it to Kuhu. Are you crazy??!! Atleast ask Kuhu why she wants this particular mandap only or get them married at the same time rather than aage peechhe. But BP to BP hai, itne saalo me joint family sambhalna hi nahi seekh paa rahe.

Sorry! Bohot zyada lamba ho gaya. But if anyone till here, then let me know your thoughts on my thoughts.

You go girl!

BP isn't holding the family together or rather he isn't doing a good job of it because everyone feels suffocated.

I also don't get the logic that Varsh-Shaurya favour Kuhu so BM-BP love Mishti. It makes no sense to me. Why wouldn't I want the attention and love of my grandparents as well as my parents?

I'd say the same for Mishti too. Why wouldn't she want the love of her aunt and uncle but still she has the upper hand here of being the daughter of the 'Mukhiyas'. So, as a result, her issues are acknowledged and openly dealt with.

As sam mentioned the hierarchy plays an important role.
