Again, I think the Mishti-Kuhu backstory wasn't necessarily spelled out but it's quite easy to infer. Given that they were friends before Mishti came to live with the Maheshwaris, Kuhu probably had expectations about how their relationship was going to be once they were living together. Kuhu probably thought their friendship would continue the same way -- for Kuhu that meant confiding in each other and having each other's backs over the rest of the family. What she didn't account for were Mishti's abandonment issues which would make her feel obliged to BM and BP.

Mishti,in order to maintain their image of her, has always prioritised her relationships with BM and BP and following their example, she took on a patronising elder sister role for Kuhu where she expected Kuhu to come to her with all of her problems, mind her solutions without a whimper, but didn't share anything in return or take Kuhu seriously as an ally or confidant. This is visible right from the first episode where she usurped the performance they were supposed to do together to now where she hid the NishMish plan and batted Kuhu away despite Kuhu asking her multiple times. What made it inifinitely worse is that Mishti invariably got credit for this behaviour instead of being called out on it.

It's really hard to form a genuine connection with someone who acts like you're not worthy of their confidence and the thing is, Mishti's impulsive philanthropy sometimes worked out for others but it has proven detrimental to Kuhu on almost every occasion. What Kuhu really wants from her is anything real -- that is how I read her outbursts -- retaliate and show me your anger, Mishti but at least let it be something other than this holier-than-thou facade. And Mishti does retaliate predictably when she gets angry -- she throws all her "help" in Kuhu's face, and calls Kuhu ungrateful, revealing how she expects this relationship to be.

The rare occasions when they have made a connection are the moments when Mishti has been truly vulnerable with Kuhu, when Kuhu could see her pain and be there for her in a real way. She is not interested in being Mishti's sidekick, but she has always been open to, and craved a more truthful bond.

Sam another great analysis from you. ❤️

@bold: The holier-than-thou facade that Mishti puts up is exactly why I find her character so unrealistic and unrelatable. And when she gets called out for it, the person who dares to do this insensitive or childish.

Mishti has never been truthful with Kuhu but always wants to interfere in her life and "help" her. Kuhu dislikes drama so she wants to resolve things in her own way, without trying to gain everyone's sympathy and hurting her family, which is the complete opposite of Mishti's character. She although always says that she loves her family and keeps deceiving her family by making them believe in something that is not true ( especially during the Nannu wedding fiasco).

Lovely!

It all makes sense. It's been more obvious to me in recent episodes when they come face to face.

i dont think u never understood dynamics of mishku...

they both are at fault from the start...

i dont want to take anyone's side but i know both mishku's insecurities and their issues becoz i have seen it from starting and i use to like kuhu very much when kunal's mom rejected kuhu and everyone want to pamper her but it spoiled by jas in one way and by shourya in one way as they left for mishti and i really felt bad for kuhu...

when i have seen promo of kuhu's haldi i tought wedding will be called off but wedding happened and their SR i really felt what this kuhu has gone trough but by next day when she spoke to mish ill about her relation with abir i tought iss kuhu ka kya hogya and icing on cake was janmashtami kaand... but then i tought its ok as she realised what extent it went bcoz of her insecurity...

when kunal gave divorce papers to kuhu its only the mishti supported and said its her right to be make respectfulof herself...

but only after nishmish i dont like kuhu... and in divorce papers issue i support kuhu's side but not after that...

kuhu's is character is always of gerself and its depends upon her mood the way she behaves with mishti...

fault is from both ends and they never trusted eo... its not only mishti's nor kuhu's..

@Ruhi: I have watched all the scenes you mentioned and a fair bit of the parent show as well. I am well-aware of how the makers want us to see the story (which is your interpretation), but the nice thing about this AT is that there are people who are willing to consider questoning further WHY Kuhu and Mishti should feel so competitive in the first place, and hearing alternate theories.

Kuhu's reaction to Ketu's situation is much more in line with what I would have done. If a girl has taken the drastic step of running away from home, there must be a strong reason and making her go back is a hasty solution. Take her to a safe place and then let her decide what she wants to do? That sounds very supportive and reasonable to me.

While we are on the subject, I loved Kuku right from episode 1, but at that point, more as a part of the ensemble. I saw so much potential for parallels between the two couples, with free spirits Abir and Kuhu both feeling something immediately while Mishti and Kunal carried the weight of the world on their shoulders and didn't really pay attention to their feelings. In the aftermath of Kunal and Mishti's GD breaking, I lost connection with the leads but was pleasantly surprised by how beautifully Kunal and Kuhu unfolded, especially after marriage.

@Snow: That post-visarjan hug is my absolute favourite Kuku scene! I love how brutally honest this couple was with each other -- and that honesty really could be brutal sometimes -- because it gave their relationship such a solid foundation. I think a close second would have to be the bachelor's/hen's party night because again, I just love that the moment his inhibitions were lowered, the first thing Kunal wanted to do was run over and tell Kuhu the truth.

Both of these scenes captured Kunal's conflict so well. The problem was never his lack of feelings for Kuhu but his conviction that he was responsible for holding the family together first and foremost. That line, "humari kahaani kuch aur ho sakti thi" gets me every time. 😭

I just love thinking about all the things they've shared with each other that nobody else knows -- Kunal telling Kuhu how devastated he was after Shweta left him, that he wasn't patter-dil like everyone assumed, she was the only one he opened up to about his difficulty accepting Parul, Kuhu telling him about faking her relationship with Mishti before anyone else knew, and now, how she cried herself to sleep trying to accept that Varsha was her only mother. These two may not have many of the usual markers of romance but I see something so much deeper, which is what keeps drawing me in.

Hi guys, this a reminder that this AT is for our beloved KuKu and not MishKu and their bond. This does not mean that I dont appreciat the discussions that have been going on this topic, but it now seems to be at a point where its all about Mishti and Kuhu, who is right and why they are right.

Can we please revert this AT back to being a Kunal and Kuhu.

Thank you

❤️Ria

Thank you for stating your opinion and I do appreciate you giving us an insight into your POV. But I stand by what I said earlier.

@Bold: Not to point out the obvious, but if you don't like Kuhu, this AT maybe not be the best fit for you. From the time that I have spent on this AT, I have understood that while no one supports Kuhu's every action but we do still like her as a character. Hence the reason AT members spend time here analyzing Kuhu, Kunal, and KuKu.
