I have seen the episodes after the 10year leap but I wasn't watching it for the story. I had gone back from the Kairav track to understand Kaira's backstory so I didn't focus much on Kuhu or Mishti but I did see a scene where they were sitting by the pool and Kuhu calls her 'Didu'.

I don't think both Rhea and Kaveri were told Mishti and Kuhu's backstory in detail. Maybe just the parts that the writer's wanted to bring in to their present characters.

The story that Kaveri posted was written by a fanpage so I don't really know how accurate it was as I haven't watched those particular episodes but from what I can understand, she didn't Mishti at all from the parent show. She just elaborated on Kuhu's backstory and her journey from Hong Kong to India and to being accepted as part of the family.

The only place you and the fanpage seem to have a difference is that Shaurya wanting/not wanting to take care of Kuhu.

There are many difference in that and in parent show... Kuhu struggles intially but mah accepted her when they got to know Kuhu shorya daughter and Varsha took time... even shourya want to leave house with Kuhu as Varsha can’t go trough the betrayed phase by seeing Kuhu daily... as far as mishku there are is a age gap between these for 2-3 years and mish ne Kuhu bahut tang as she is a spoilt brat but when they made her understand she is very good with Kuhu and Kuhu was always her back support to mishti and vice versa no matter what...

Ananya was not ready to accept Kuhu that easily as she don’t share father with anyone but she accepted in 2-7 epi I think...Kuhu with out mishti stayed with mah for 10 to 11 years...

Coming to BP-BM they lost akshara and mishti came to them after 2-3 years of akshara’s death and I don’t think they toght mishti will be with them for life time... and mishti’s fears , panic attacks and naman’s constant blackmail was there till Abir came to mishti’s life as we see now... so yes partial, over protectiveness and more than all these they found their akshara in mishti and their fear of loosing their daughter is always empowering them when it comes to mishti so yes they went over board in mishti case but can’t say anything to them...

If not mishti Singhania’s child but BP and BM adopted then The circumstances in their will be not like these... always they showed it’s due Singhania’s thing but never thought out of it.. but BM and BP it’s their child only... mishti till now don’t know actual reason of sending her to Maheshwari’s

It should be hard for mishti to leave her house Kaira and even Udaipur and shift to Rajkot... except BM and BP she doesn’t have anyone to trust and even BP and BM went over board to trust them

What ever Kuhu gone trough is not less but her age is very small but mishti’s age is 14 so it is not that easy to adjust when u are in teenage... what ever happens in that will always remain scar in our lives...

Mishku relationship should be know to them

Only.. because as far Kuhu she won’t have any problem with sharing mishti if this is the Bach story of them... but makers when their dynamics changed...

I wrote this analysis in a PM to a friend around September, and that heartbreaking "mumma--ma" scene reminded me of it so I thought I'd share it here as well.

I really believe the key to Kuhu's character is Varsha. She loves and admires the heck out of her mom, and emulates her behaviour as much as she can. Varsha not only forgave her husband's infidelity with time, but even accepted Kuhu as her own child. That takes someone with a really big heart. On top of that she fought for Kuhu all her life. In my eyes, Varsha is the sole reason Kuhu is the confident, self-assured girl she is today, and for that reason Kuhu totally idolises her mother. So part of her resentment also comes from seeing how her mom, who is actually much more down to earch and sensible, is constantly treated as subordinate to her grandparents.

And this is where Mishti comes in, because of this really unusual situation, where the grandparents and parents have children of the same age. Mishti, in being the daughter of BM and BP automatically gets a higher position in the family hierarchy with less accountability -- as we see, she only has to answer to BM and BP. Kuhu, is answerable to her parents who are in turn answerable to theirs. I think most of Kuhu's resentment towards Mishti comes from these underlying inequalities -- their clashing personalities added fuel to the fire. Is it Mishti's fault directly? Not always. But does she rile up Kuhu's anger against this underlying inequality and bring out the worst in her with her patronising attitude? Definitely.

Now, if we observe the details closely, we can see that Varsha mostly raised Kuhu to tolerate the inequality in her family for as long as she had to and then get out of it as soon as possible (through marriage). Other than her occasional outbursts, Kuhu did just that in pretending to have this sisterly bond with Mishti. Varsha, for the most part, is extremely pragmatic. She sees that there isn't much scope to challenge BM and BP's authority or their hypocrisy without tearing the whole family apart, so she grits her teeth and pretends to be okay with it, all while equipping Kuhu to really shine once she is free of this household. This is why Varsha and Kuhu were so eager for her marriage right from the beginning of the show -- they lived their lives, trying not to raise their voices, not rebelling, pretending everything was great, with the single goal to get Kuhu out of this toxic environment as soon as possible (it's a totally different set of questions as to why marriage was the only way to do this, but I am thinking here within in the universe of the show, where that seems to be a given).

This is why Kuhu can't just walk out on this marriage so easily. She knows this wedding is the culmination of Varsha's lifetime of work, tolerating inequality and fighting for her, and this relationship with the RVs breaking would essentially render all of that work obsolete. That is also why both of them, in full acknowledgment that it was wrong to separate lovers, tried to keep Mishti and Abir apart -- that is just how important this marriage is to both of them: it's supposed to be Kuhu's escape and Varsha's peace of mind. And the thing is, Kuhu was ready for an arranged marriage, meaning she was ready to do the work of getting to know both her husband and his family over time -- so other than Kunal's antagonism (which is not even constant, with all the promising moments), what she is experiencing is exactly what she was prepared for, and so she is shining.

I think this is where the extreme reaction of the slap came from. The one thing Kuhu was most terrified about was hurting her mom or giving her any sense of failure -- she said so to Kunal multiple times. Kuhu would have done just about anything to protect Varsha and just when she thought she would succeed, she had to watch her mom's heart break for absolutely no reason. 💔

Every time Kuhu tries to sort things out slowly and carefully, Mishti comes tearing through with an impulsive move that ends up in the very destruction Kuhu was trying to avoid. It's not hard to see why she finally lost her patience, especially when that destruction involved the person she loves and admires most in the world this time around. 😔

Thank you for this backstory! I had gotten into this because of the love-hate bond between MishKu and I am so glad I have some backstory on it now.

The only issue is that I am more intrigued as well as confused about how their relationship reached at this stage where they both hate each other. I would assume that someone like Kuhu who has had to make a place for herself after being completely left alone would understand Mishti's struggle. Then why is their relationship like this? Have the makers given any solid reason for this hatred except for having to share her belongings and family members??

EDIT: I found these 2 clips as well from MishKu's childhood when Mishti didn't seem like Kuhu because she had to share her stuff. (that's weirdly ironic 🤨)

in this spin off till now they didnt gave any reason for these bahaviour of mishku...

those videos of kuhu are of intially when kuhu character entered the show and mish want to be good with her kuhu always but kuhu used to cry and everyone gave attention to kuhu and kuhu never spoke with anyone expect naitik at that time but their mishku equations changed in span of 10 epi and they are really great until this show...

in one word i can say role revesrsal is going on between kuhu and mishti... in childhood mishti couldnt tolearte kuhu and now kuhu cant tolerate mishti...

ananya and nishant understand mishti morethan kuhu as they both spent time with mishti morethan kuhu and kuhu was like there are my siblings but mishti snatched them from me... but ananya and nishant understands mishti situation more as every child of mah had done their mistakes... and tii now neither mishti knows nor kuhu why mishti was with mah actually...

i dont why u r thinking that mishti hates kuhu... from show starting onwards kuhu wants to be greater than mishti and kuhu is the one who targets mishti.. mishti only gives back when mishti's father is tagged of her doings...

for kuhu everything is competition with mishti but mishti openly said i never did anything to defeat you nor i dont want to compete with you... i dont believe in competition as it is life not a game...

but kuhu wants to be better than mishti so kuhu cheated in cycle competition which made both them to go kutch and kuhu applied job when she got to know mishti applied for jobs...

mishti again gave to kuhu when she spoke ill about abir's relation with her and it is just to enter RV house, she didnt love abir and she want to trap abir to get everything what kuhu has or compete with her but in story mishbir never wanted to take break old relations for their relation and they didnt even propose to eo till kuku's marriage...

for mishku relation.. what i understood is mishti wants to keep kuhu happy and give her what she wants till now as she know kuhu's demands are always immature and irrelevent... and till now mishti never said their relationship truth to abir...

but one thing if mishku are together they make a good team and only their absence can make eo realize their importance...

Clearly the makers just picked the two characters from yrkkh and didn't really think too much about their backstory and the journey they already had. Because if they did, the equation between MishKu may have been a little different.

@nami, no chappals are going to come for you for expressing your POV. I do agree with you and Meera that the decision was more of a redemption thing. I think Kunal has realised that to convince the Maheshwaris, you have to do major and grand gestures. Once you do that, everything is forgiven.

From what I've noticed and understood from the last few KuKu scenes is that when Kuhu is angry, Kunal feels that she needs to be pacified and calmed down first so that she becomes open to listening to what the other person has to say. That's what I felt happened with the haldi song sequence. She had left the RV house in so much anger that he wasn't sure if she would listen to him if he just came and stood in front of her. He had to the kamarband and the flower-shower😆 to calm her down and make her feel special.

Yes I felt that too. But sadly people would interpret it differently that Kuhu has fallen for this gesture and let go of all the past issues very easily.

I don't know if I can pinpoint a particular episode or scene. It was a gradual process for me as I was only following the story at one point in time. Although, I can pinpoint the episode where I realised that Kaveri and Ritvik were brilliant actors.

Kaveri: Navratri sequence after she was handed the divorce papers. I started falling in love with her character from that scene onwards.

Ritvik: The major fight with Abir when he asked him to choose between Mishti and Kunal. That was so brilliantly done.

Oooh, I think I have one for KuKu. The hug after the fight with Abir or and the scene when he says "pyaar aur bhai ke beech sirf bhai" and I was like this love story is going to be full of angst, hurt but also heartwarming and cute moments. And that is how I fell in love with KuKu.

The Navratri scene was so emotional. The way Kaveri acted was so so natural. I mean you could feel the girl's pain The background of sad Bekhudi just added more emotion to it.

As I already said I'm not a fan of Ritvik yet. I like him but haven't connected to him as I am to Kaveri 🤔

I shipped KuKu from the first episode itself. I watched the first episode because I loved Shaheer in KRPKAB and wanted to see his show. I liked Abeer's character but did not get interested in his love angle. But I loved the bus scene where Kuhu sees Kunal for the first time. It was so funny and unique. Usually in soaps, it's the guy who is mesmerized by the girl and falls in love. But it was opposite in KuKu's case, Kuhu was the one who liked Kunal first. And the way Kuhu gleefully says " Usne Mujhe Dekha" was hilarious and endearing. (Kaveri's expressions were super cute in that scene and a special mention to Ritvik who looked soooo good in that scene - seriously this guy needs to do a lead role ASAP) ❤️ ❤️

Then I loved the scene where they meet in the middle of the road after Holi. After that scene, I was hooked and started following the show regularly. But later just watched KuKu scenes because I got bored with the other couple. ( I am kind of sad that I didn't get interested in the main lead's story because I was really looking forward to Shaheer's show. I love his style of acting )

PS: I know a lot of people think Kuhu just fell for Kunal's good looks and sports car, but I think she was just attracted to him at that point. She fell in love with him later on. And I find it surprising that no one even bats an eye when a guy falls in love with a girl in the first sight in tv shows ( which happens in almost each and every show) but when a girl likes a guy in the first sight then her love is superficial 😕 😕

And the middle of the road scene was good too. That's when we got a hint of Kunal maybe liking Kuhu in the future 😳

frankly i like kaveri but not kuhu after nishmish shaadi track... and yes for me still i dont like why kuhu gave it up for kunal because she said she will reject him if she gets a chance as meenu rejected her... their could have been started with kunal manofying to stay as he realises her presence and how important to him when he observed changes in her behaviour after leap and when he seen her on hospital bed due to allergic reaction...
