I totally agree with you on this .. You know recently I watched a series â Mission Over Marsâ and there was a wonderful dialogue in it, that a woman can be anything scientists, engineers, sexist .. And they successfully portrayed it as well.. The mission director Nandita was a great team leader, a brilliant scientist but a control freak mother. Similarly, Moshmi was a very ambitious ambitious scientist, but not so good as a team leader and a difficult colleague.. But nowhere did I see that in the narrative showed the problematic traits of these woman, not been called off or their achievements being downplayed.. Basically what I am trying to say is, that women were shown as human beings, the actual grey characters. They had their strengths, their weaknesses, their differences but above everything was their mission and passion to conduct a successful mission.. They had multiple character traits in them, some were good, some were bad but none was unrealistic..
Problem over here is that the characters they are trying to pass on as grey are actually not grey. They are demeaning, they are heartless and they are irrational. Kuhu has off late started to show some kind of reasoning nowadays, but God knows for how long it will be there. Being the adopted child she herself is, almost zero to nil reasoning has been shown as to why she despises Mishti so much. What has she actually lost to Mishti. What has Mishti taken away from her Love? Comfort? Education? Fair enough, at times even Mishti has done questionable things to her, but were they such big issues that it was impossible to deal with a conversation.
Coming to Jasmeet, I donât know if I will ever be able to wrap my head around what she speaks, why she speaks. I mean the most senseless of all the characters ..
Varsha, now I really donât know what Kuhu told her today. But even if she told her half truth, isnât it her responsibility to at least once talk to Kunal about how he is treating her child. I mean just for once hold Kunal accountable, before thinking or getting manipulated over trying to contain Mishti..
I mean the heights these they will go to impress Kunal is truly appalling... They wonât even unite and question Kunal for their own good. Yeh aapke grey characters hain.. these are totally dumb characters living in somewhat perhaps ancient era, wearing modern clothes and having some parties but the mindset is still the old one... Samaj, damad , ladki ka sasural is everything..
Even Mishti, I mean I donât know if working in an NGO is a permanent job that is fetching her some financial independence or itâs just a help that she is offering to a dear friend. If she is also not thinking about her career seriously, she too is doing grave injustice to herself .. Meenu is feeling tired and expects Abir to take up his responsibilities, but arenât Vishambhar and Shaurya are also getting older.. Why are they not expecting from their daughters Kuhu and Mishti to take up responsibilities or start learning about their business..
Unfortunately this is just not the case with this show. Itâs with every other show.. Look at KZK how the women around treat Prerna or how Prerna treats herself.
Coming to Abir, he definitely needs to see Kunal for what he is.. What and to how much extent does he think his mother can manipulate his brother. Their mother was not even present at the function when Kunal misbehaved with Mishti. However, I think may be I am wrong, but perhaps Kunalâs behaviour with Mishti and Kuhu , which is definitely apparent, will come out as a dramatic truth in front of the family when KuKu marriage truth comes out. May be once Abir comes to know that Kunal was involved in blackmailing Mishti along with his mother, he will see Kunal for what he is, because in tv shows even apparent things have to come out and be realised dramatically.. However, I am still kind of glad that even if back stage he tries to excuse Kunal action with Meenuâs upbringing, he doesnât lets Kunal leave without questioning him, in case he pulls out these stunts in front of him..
