Imagine being a young boy who adores his father and forgets all his worries in his mother’s lap. Like an innocent child the boy believes that his parent’s concern and love for him will stay like this for ever. One day his illusion breaks as he stands alone when his father leaves him , he stands alone because things are never the same between his mother and him and that day the boy grows up and is forced to be a man. Abir once said” Maa baap jab bachpan main chod kay jaatay hain toh apnay saath bachpan bhi lay jaatay hain”. He was left behind and life as he knew it changed. He would wait at the door day in day out hoping against hope that one day his father will come back but he doesn’t. Questions linger in his brain and he can’t help but question his mother on why his father left were they not enough to make him stay? Was he not enough? As time passes his father’s departure and the doubts associated with it creates a bitterness between him and his mother. A bitterness he desperately wants to overcome but is unable to. So, he drowns himself in poetry and prose and conceals his true feelings by helping others and making them smile for he and pain are old friends and he rather not let anyone else live in pain. Then on a warm summer day a girl walks into his life. Her eyes tell a million tales and he is intrigued by her presence. As the bus passes a bump the girl offers her hand to stabilize him and he learns that even she has been left behind. He gets a odd sense of calmness while he is held by her and he thinks that maybe just maybe this is the start of a new story: their story. The wanderer who used to drift from place to place finds his home in her and as the story goes on the little boy who was left behind starts hoping that he is enough to make her stay.
Let’s dig in to the episode now. I don’t have words to describe the magic Mishbir weaved on our screens today. Both Shaheer Sheikh and Rhea Sharma deserve a standing ovation for emoting their scenes with so much grace that they make you forget that they are acting. It’s the eve of Kuku’s bachelor party and all the boys are drunk but our homeboy Abir is drunk on love. All around him people are dancing but then his imagination plays a trick on him and she waltz in clad in a yellow saari. She winks at him and our boy melts. He walks up to her and smiles widely.
“Misthi.. I love you” he says it softly but all at once and then he gently kisses her hand only to realize that she is not actually there. It is said that when we are drunk we lose all our inhibitions and yearn for the things we desperately want.
“Naanu angry chorni kahna hai Naanu mujhay angry chorni say milna hain” Abir demands to see her like a child demands for his favorite toy. His angry chorni is not just his want anymore she has become his need. Naanu tells him to close his eyes and when he open them she will be here.
“Magic ho ga tabhi toh angry chorni ahay gi right” he says while he attempts to cover his eyes. That magic is none other then fate that has interwoven these two souls together.
“Kab ho ga magic angry chorni kab ahayay gi” he keeps on pestering the universe to heed to his demands and as he opens his eyes he sees her at the door. She calls out to him and he rushes to meet her. She asks him about Kunal but he gestures her to keep quiet and then he takes her to his room. He is staggering but he still welcomes her like a queen. “ Aahyi ahayi , welcome” as if he is trying to say that everything in this room including him is rejoicing that she has finally graced them with her presence. For he thinks this is the first time she is in his room, but little does he know that she has already been there.
“Abir yay toh tumhara kamra hain na umm main Kunal say milnay ayahi thi”
“Pata sahi hain lekin naam galat. Tum yahan Abir say milnay ayi thi. A.i.b.e.r Aiber Rajvansh” so drunk homeboy is very territorial he tells her that she is only here for him and no one else. He enunciates every syllable of his name to make it clear to her that she is only here to meet Abir Rajvansh. He takes his name with so much swag.
“Abir tum drunk ho kya”
“Yes .. I mean no” at first he nods his head in agreement but then he quickly denies it by shaking his head.
“Kis nay pilyai?” She asks him
“Shoes laal, jurab peeli teri yaad main sharap piy li” a drunk Abir is not good at shayri lol he is very similar to his angry chorni who sucks at shayri even when she is sober.
“Abir jab tum drunk hotay ho toh ho na toh shayri mat kiya karo” His cute antics make her laugh and she forgets why she is really here.
“…Lekin tumhari tareef tumhari tareef toh kar sakta hu na. Tum phool ho khwaab ho chaand ho toh phir inti khoobsurat kyun ho? He tells her that he knows that one can’t drive while being drunk or quote poetry, but one can surely praise his beloved. He stumbles forward and she slowly starts moving backward until her head hits the pillar.In the cutest role reversal in Mishti’s style he compares her to a flower, a unsaid dream and the moon asks her that why is she so beautiful. When he says that the weight of the information causes her to look down as she is in awe of the man in front of her. How does he do it every time how does he so easily take her breath away. She chooses to remain silent and he calls her out on it.
“Main nay tumhari inti tareef ki tumhay kuch nahi bolna?” he pouts at her and looks at her expectantly like an adorable baby and than he whispers “Misthi kuch bolo na main sun raha hu” turn towards the side and points at his ear and he closes his eyes in anticipation. Naata meri rooh ka plays in the background and in the next instant angry chorni leans forward and softly pecks him on the cheek all her fears forgotten because sometimes a kiss can say things that words are incapable to convey. The feels guys when the song starts playing and when she leans in “Kiya kahay bhay ki aur na ray “ plays which signifies that she has nothing to say except that no one else makes her feel so many things all at once other than him. Those feelings are indescribable .His eyes shoot wide open and he smiles and as she tries to get away he tries to grab her and they both stumble and fall on his bed. Her glasses fall to the side but for a minute time stops as they both gaze in to each other’s eyes. As brown orbs meet another set of brown orbs the world around them vanishes and she smiles in between he blinks and the moment breaks. His hand moves towards the side and he grabs her glasses and gently puts them on her and smiles because his angry chorni is incomplete without her glasses. I legit died in that scene and my literal reaction was fsgsjsjdewkode. This was small yet such a meaningful scene even in all his drunken haze and stupor he does not take advantage of her rather he shows her that he loves her and the whole of her with her glasses. He knows that how important they are for her as she once said that her glasses complete her. His gesture here warms my heart because normally in all the romantic scenes I have seen between a glasses wearing person and another person the glasses are thrown towards the side but our homeboy Abir gently picks them up and puts them in their rightful place and then he holds her hand and continues to gaze at her. She is captivating and he looks at her in wonder and with eyes full of love when did he get so lucky. Even she doesn't break eye contact this man always surprises her how can he love her this much how did she get so lucky? His voice drops an octave and it almost sounds like he is choking.
“Itnay arsay say jo jazbaat meray dil main ahtqay huay thay honton par ahtaq gaye hain. Waisay toh shayar hu lafzon say purani dosti hain lekin aaj jab zaroorat padhi hain toh purany doston nay bhi saath nahi diya iss liay seedha seedha saaf lafzon main keh raha hu Misthi..I” He tells her how his feelings that were once buried in his heart are now stuck on his tongue. Since, he is a poet words have never failed him but today they have. He is stumped so he will be straight forward in expressing his love for her. He is about to confess but she stops him.
“Nahi Abir ahgay mat kehna” fear has overpowered her. She does not want to hear it because then leaving him would get even harder than it already is.
“Main jo kehna chaata hu tum nahi sun na chaati Misthi?” he implores her.
“Abir mujay jana hain” She tells him that she needs to leave. She must leave because if she hears it she might never let go of him.
“Aur mujay kahin nahi jaana because I have fallen in..” He tells her that he doesn’t want to go anywhere because he is finally home. The wanderer has reached his true destination.
“Abir please” She pleads with him to not say it.
“Baar baar tok rahi ho yaar. Main kuch keh raha hu meri baat suno chup chap aik dum chup okay. I..” He tells her to stop interrupting him and to listen quietly to what he has to say but she cannot take it anymore. If she hears those words she will run to him but due to circumstances she has to run from him. She tosses him to the side and gets up but instead of leaving immediately she lingers for a bit.
“Abir, tumay sona chaiyay” She looks at him and turns to walk away but he grabs her hand and makes her sit on the bed than he slowly moves and keeps his head on her lap. This was the most endearing scene of the entire series.
“Pata hain jab main chota tha na aur Maa say inti dushmani nahi toh who meray sar main haath phar kar mujay sulati thi” this was heart breaking. In her lap he confesses that how eons ago when he was a little boy he used to find solace in his mother’s lap but now we all know that love has turned into bitterness. Where he was supposed to find comfort he only finds discomfort and underneath his cheerful and carefree exterior he is still a little boy who wants to lie down have someone he loves careress his hair to make him realize that he is enough and that he won’t be left behind.
“Toh?” She asks him why he is telling her this. Than he moves her hand so it ruffles his hair how beautifully he tells her that now he has found that comfort in her lap. She is his safe haven. She remembers how he once told her that she has a beautiful heart so she should never hesitate in telling him the truth even if its bitter he will be able to handle it. She smiles and caresses his hair.
“Meri life main kuch bhi ho rha ho lekin tum mujhay smile karnay ka koi na koi bahana day hi daytay ho” She muses that amid all the uncertainty and mess her life is in he has once again given her a reason to smile. With him all her worries are forgotten she forgets that she came here to talk to Kunal, for a blissful moment she forgets BB’s threat that is looming in the air they can all be damned angry chorni will caress her Ajeeb Rajvansh’s hair until he falls asleep because right now in this moment only he matters. He smiles and holds her hand almost near his heart. The Banjara is finally home.

Stray thoughts
• BB has bad timing and she is downright mean and nasty to Parul. I have zero sympathy for her. She just wants to control and use people.
• The back and front bencher banter was so funny and well acted out
• I actually liked Kunal today his antics with Jugnu were hilarious.
• Can they please stop intercutting KUKU and Mishbir scenes they kind of ruin the mood.
• Precap was interesting so Abir has decided to confess his love asap as he knows something is holding Mishti back.
