purely for argument’s sake, DNA testing was not a thing when Gen 2 was being made ? Karthik questioned her fidelity but it clearly was not such a big deal ..Naira was ready to go back ..her fear was any likely questions on the paternity which could have been easily resolved …I have stayed away from this thread largely because I am not comfortable with the language being used here…but you are someone whom I have always found to be reasonable in our past interactions …everything is wrong or everything is right ..we cannot be selective in our judgment ..you mentioned that Armaan is not a victim …but Abhira herself told Kaveri that Armaan’s childhood trauma was the root cause of his insecurity and his over the top responses even at times …that is the narrative of the show …so we cannot question that …effectively that places Armaan in the same victim category even if Abhira was not the one oppressing him …sadly when a victim acts out, it is not the ones who oppressed him who are most impacted …it is the innocent third parties …it is unfair but then that’s how collateral damage works
Armaan’s action in taking the child away and letting Abhira stew for seven years without knowing where her child was and in what condition is absolutely indefensible ….no one can argue on that point …however the choice to do whatever she wants to do about the truth whenever she gets to know it rests entirely with Abhira ..,if she chooses to, she can forgive him and become a family along with Maira …or move on with some other man …or stay single if that is what she wants …bottom line it is about her agency ..her right to choose …if I have to stand up for Akshu’s right to move on, then I have to stand up for Abhira’s right not to …if that is what she eventually wants …if she believes that she can get over the past and build a meaningful relationship with Armaan all over again and be a family with Maira and he…then she has a right to her belief …if she believes that her happiness or peace lies in moving on, then that is also her right …🤷🏻♀️
When Naira forgave Kartik after punishing him for 5.5 years, she faced criticism too, though time matters. The whole acceptance of apology or not, depends on writers. If I didn't support Kiara the character for choosing Abhir as a partner, disregarding her choice, I won't support Abhira the character too for choosing a destructive relationship again. Kiara is a supporting character and Abhira is a female lead, that doesn't make any difference for me, as long as I like both characters. Akshu was supported for moving on because her partner loved and respected her in comparison to her ex-husband. Abhira's husband/ex-husband broke her fighting spirit, courage and was the main reason for her pain, suffocation and guilt for 7 years with no fault of hers, he doesn't deserve apology without punishment, not because of sense of justice, equality rights or anything like that. I personally don't support things I don't believe in. Be it in fiction. Content has impact, even if we overlook morals, ethics etc. several girls/boys took notes from fiction and ended up commiting suicide thinking it makes love eternal, if we can't live together than let's die together. Writers need to be criticized and no matter if they change their pattern or not, if they can take ideas from here so why can't we convey our disappointments? (as they do visit SM sites). Armaan's thinking pattern that a woman "can be" separated from her child if she is happy is the main problem not his trauma, he saw Abhira in pain so felt guilty. What if Abhira was not in pain would he be justified in his thinking and actions? Armaan's selfishness because of his temporary priority or choice be it Ruhi, Vidya, Abhira or Maira and ability to go to extremes for one relationship, abandoning/leaving all others, is the main problem.
@red we can question the narrative, the way we did when writers tried to show Vidya mata the victim after doing what she did by separating mother and son.
