Armaan was always a narcissistic character who couldn’t see beyond himself in any situation. He is the kind who wallows in self pity, unless someone is visibly shown upset and crying like him he cannot identify other’s pain. People are only identifying this character trait clearly because Abhira is the victim now.
For years itv has portrayed women as the epitome of forgiveness and love. Even when someone tries to kill them, they are kind enough to forgive them if the other party regrets their actions. They are resilient enough to put up with all the emotional/physical abuse under the garb of awaiting acceptance from the family and elders of the family. In reality they are nothing but victims of abuse. These writers have normalized these abuses so much that now even when someone tries to actually show a woman move on from this, the audience finds it hard to accept it and gets termed unfit for a family unit. It’s also why a character introduced as free-spirited FL gets tamed to “fit in the family” and often goes thru identity crisis. What’s sad is these characters are written by women, who rather than identify themselves with these characters and choose to write a better story for them, push them into the same toxic environment and justify it too.. What makes you wonder is, is this the requirement of the marketing strategy to sell the product or just the writer’s own hateful and bitter experiences that motivates them to write women in such a manner…
Absolutely agree with the larger point you’ve made—and you’ve hit the nail on the head when it comes to both Armaan’s narcissism and the deeply embedded problem with how women are written in Indian television. What’s truly disturbing is how abuse is rebranded as “endurance” and “strength,” and how emotional manipulation gets packaged as "great love."
Armaan’s inability to recognize anyone’s pain but his own has always been there—his performative guilt, his victim complex, his obsession with appearing morally right rather than being right. What’s frustrating is how long the narrative allowed him to get away with it under the illusion of “trauma” or “emotional baggage.” Abhira only became the visible victim recently, but that doesn’t mean the damage wasn’t ongoing before.
And yes, it’s tragic that female writers are behind these stories. Instead of challenging the norm, they reinforce outdated ideals where a woman’s worth is tied to how much she can suffer and still stay. If a woman chooses dignity, she’s “cold” or “unloving.” If she walks away, she’s painted as selfish.
It really makes you wonder—are they writing this because this is what sells, or because they truly believe this is what love and womanhood should look like? Either way, it's harmful. We need stories where women leave, where they heal, and where being a whole person matters more than being a doormat for a man’s redemption arc.

Exactly. Apparently he was missing Vidya the other day as well. It’s as if Shivani never existed. That’s why I say he is only Vidya’s son.
Shivani was a plot point, who was supposed to be a declared dead character as per the start of the story. Now that the purpose of the character is over, why would they remember a character which stayed for maybe 3 months.. For all intended purposes, Vidya will be the one Armaan will always identify as his mother, step or misstep..

He worshipped only vidya not his real mother. He used to stand silently whenever other family members used to character assassinate his mother.
Yeah, and even after Armaan moved out, he made zero effort to build a bond with his mummy or spend any real time with her. He didn't even want to or try to get to know her. Meanwhile, Abhira has become more of a true daughter to the Poddars than Armaan ever was. Whether it was Shivani or the Poddars, it was always Abhira who showed them genuine love and care—without expecting anything in return—and she still does.
Now that Armaan's inevitable return is just a matter of time, I really hope the Poddars don’t lose their spine and start pushing for an AbhiMaan reunion. That ship didn’t just sink—it’s buried deep under the ocean with no chance of resurfacing. Let’s not drag Abhira back into that mess again.

Eggs-act-lee my point!
One thing missing in this arman character since day 1 is accountability . That's why I cud never warm up to him....
If we notice , frm ruhi , to abhira , to vidya , to poddars , dadisa , rohit , and everyone in his life , he just shifts the responsibility to them for everything that goes wrong , while playing victim at the same time...
If abhira didn't throw the occasional tantrums like ill never forgive you , here's the divorce papers , you cheated me and ruhi both etc etc , he wouldn't even care to say sorry ..he wanted abhira in his life bec he felt she loves "him" unconditionally ..so he wanted abhira for himself...what did abhira get by marrying him ? Ddp...... .. Now he can get the same thing from maira toh abhira is out and maira is in ..he appreciates geetu bec she keeps telling him you're right you're right don't blame yourself ..
So if tomorrow they make him run behind abhira and shedding his 2 rs ke tears , it means nothing ..in these 7 yrs he never felt the need to inform abhira that their child is safe & alive ..toh ab kahe ka guilt ? His actions are of that of a villain so let him be one ...why sugar coat it ? I don't want his accountability or redemption now..I want egg on his face .

saw some new BTs …Armaan tying gungaroo for geetu..and they’re having their moment. Then he’s saying to geetu ..nobody can take your place in Mairas life..😳.. I think we’re confused and have been fooling ourselves..…Armaan is the legacy heroine of gen 4. And he’ll get the kids this time.. abhira looks on her way to becoming anupama.. like how she raised kavyas daughter…abhira will probably raise Armaan and geetus daughter conceived naturally..when geetu dies.’ And Maira technically got original.akshara singhanias blood so she can be Gen 5 heroine.. and sadly Abhira..will continue saying ..I’m missing my silly boy..🙄😂..
