Chapter 3: The Arranged Love

Abhira came out of the washroom after taking her bath,she saw her husband still sleeping....She shied remembering their night before....While it was not their first time,but yesterday it was like something had possessed Armaan....But she liked it,him being dominating in bed.....It had been 3 years of their marriage....It was a completely arranged one.While they belonged to same field,they had never met each other.She practiced in Delhi while he here in Udaipur.....Akshara & Vidya were old friends who had liked the possiblity of match between Armaan and Abhira, Kaveri had been ecstatic seeing her favorite grandson marry. Armaan had liked Abhira on their first meeting itself while Abhira had been initially hesitant about the marriage initially,but slowly she had warmed up to everybody.....

Abhira was lost in her thoughts when she felt a hand snake her waist.Abhira turned around in her husband's arms...Armaan brought her closer to him.....His wife was a firecracker,Abhira put her arms around Armaan's neck....Armaan tried to kiss Abhira but his wife put her hand on his chest.....

Abhira (tracing patterns on his chest)-What had gotten into you last night ? What was all that husband ?

Armaan (pouting)-You wont laugh at me ? If I tell you the reason ? Your friend at the party last night ?

Abhira (asking)-You felt jealous ? Of Rohan ?

Armaan (huskily)-I get jealous of any man who says he knows you more than me....Or that he was your best friend....I understand you had a life before me but....

Abhira (putting fingers on his lips)-I love you Armaan.......BTW you have fan following to Mr.....Maine to kabhi aise react nahi kiya hai.....

Armaan (smirking)-You get jealous ? Of my fan following ?

Abhira (seducing)-My husband is hot shot attorney,why wouldn't I be jealous.....

Armaan (kissing on her forehead)-You know how to appeal to my ego Mrs Armaan.....

Both Armaan and Abhira went downstairs for breakfast,The Chorus Gang smiled widely seeing their favorite couple.Vidya and Manisha smiled widely at Abhira.....they had come to love her as their daughter.....Akshara had passed away a year after her wedding....Vidya had been every bit a mother to her as Akshara had been,she had equally protective of her when Manish Goenka had came to apologize to Abhira for his actions against Akshara.....Kaveri announced that they had to attend a party at her old friend's house......Armaan's smile faltered a bit when he heard about the party......He ahd seen the guest list of that party,along with Goenkas came their great grand daughter Ruhi Birla Goenka- He and Ruhi dated little in college however she had fallen supposedly in love with him however she hated joint families......Armaan clearly told her that he was not even in love with her and bluntly told her that he would never leave his family especially for a woman like her.....But he had never told Abhira about Ruhi.He glanced at Abhira -when Vidya had told him that he was supposed to meet a girl for marriage,he had assumed that she too would hate joint families,however to his surprise Abhira had became warm with everybody so quick.....Truth to be told he had fallen for Abhira in their second meeting itself.....

Armaan could not take his eyes off Abhira.....She looked gorgeous in black shimmering saree with a belt at the waist......And no other jewellery except her magalsutra....She looked ethereal....Kaveri smiled with pride seeing Abhira and Armaan- the true power couple in every sense.......Behind few people was a set of jealous eyes-----Ruhi couldnot handle seeing Armaan and Abhira together....Ruhi decided to break them up however unknown to her their marital bond was not that weak.....

Next evening,Abhira sat in their bedroom,clutching a bunch of photographs which were intimate in nature.......Armaan came rushing in,Manisha's face was white and she told him to go and talk to Abhira immediately......Armaan rushed to their room and saw Abhira sitting silently clutching bunch of photographs......Armaan slowly took those photographs out of her grip and his face went white.......It were his and Ruhi's old photos which he had destroyed,how did Abhira get it ?

Armaan (stammering)-Ira....

Abhira (telling him coldly)-Mai court se nikal hi rahi thi jab ye photos mere phone pe aaye and the hard copies came in post to the house.......Armaan when,you know my history with Goenkas ? Why didnt you tell me ?

Armaan (crouching down)- Ira sweetheart I dated her little in college but she never seemed to let go of the idea me and her......While she seemed nice girl on the face,she was bit insecure always.....I knew that she was never going to be fit for me nor family.....

Abhira (tearfully)-You should have told me this before haina.......After 3 years of our marriage mujhe ye pata chalna chahyi tha.....?

Armaan (nodding.kissing her on the cheek)-Nahi jaan I am sorry.......

Abhira (angrily)-Find out who sent me these useless photographs.......Agagr maine pata lagaya na toh mai choodugi nahi usse Armaan......Is she what trying to break our marriage for fulfillment of some stupid college girl fantasy.....

Armaan (hugging her tightly)-Jaan what is wrong ? Itna gussa......? And why is this room decorated ?

Abhira (announcing)-You are going to be papa Armaan.....I am pregnant...(crying)-I wanted to surprise you par that girl ruined everything......

Armaan was ecstatic and hugged his wife tightly....They were going to be parents......He kissed her passionately.......He apologized repeatedly and explained even to Kaveri that all this was very old and he had no affair with anybody and he was very loyal to Abhira.....After both of them announced their special news to the entire family there was celebratory function in the Poddar Family......Happy for the next generation......After 3 months Kaveri however visited Goenka House and showed Manish and Suwarna what their Ruhi had done.....She chastised Ruhi and informed her that Abhira was now going to be mother of Armaan's child.....That seemed to melted the ice of arrogance of Ruhi......She warned Ruhi that if she played another stunt she would be behind bars........

Chapter 4 : Their relationship

Just as Abhira entered their room,she saw Ruhi standing there offering help to Armaan correction trying to force him to take her help,just as she was about to open a drawer Abhira yelled immediately....

Abhira (yelling)-Ruhi !!! (looking at Ruhi)-Itni tameez nahi hai ke married couples ke room me kuch bhi pada ho sakta hai,how dare you open my drawer without my permission.....? Aur tumhe Armaan ki Na sunai nahi deti,didnt he say no,he didnt want your help......(Angrily looking at Armaan)-Aur tum darwaaza baand nahi kar sakte the,you know na ki room me koi bhi ghussa chala aata hai ?

Ruhi (chuckling)-Tumhari aur Armaan ki contract marriage hai , what privacy ? And what married couple ?

Armaan (clarifying)-Mai tumhe kabse batane ki koshish kar raha hu Ruhi par tumhe toh sunna kaha hai.....We have decided to give our marriage a real try,mai pasand karta hu Abhira ko and and she likes me as well.....

Ruhi was stunned,Armaan was going to give his marriage a try ? What about them ? What about her ? No no he had promised !! She had married Rohit because of that,was she being punished for the decisions that she had made ? After all now even Kaveri and Vidya wanted Abhira and Armaan's marriage to work.They both were starting to love,understand and respect Abhira.....Infact these days Vidya loves Abhira more than Armaan too.....She was proud of having a daughter-in-law like Abhira,she had been showing off Abhira to her friends and Kaveri too had introduced Abhira to her friends and professional circle.....

Ruhi (nodding)-Armaan tumne ?

Abhira (angrily)-Dont you dare turn this on Armaan.Tum stupid decisions lo iske liye mere pati ko zimmedar theraya toh dekh lena.....2 din mai hui mulakat ko tum pyaar kaise maan sakti ho ? Me and Armaan have been living together for 11 months and yet we dont know everything about each other.....You have to lie in the bed you make Ruhi.......I am warning you,doobara tum mere kamre mai kisi bhi cheez haath lagaya ya tum mere kamre mai aayi toh mai tumhe chodigi nahi........

Ruhi hastily exited,Abhira looked at Armaan angrily.....Armaan had proposed to her 2 months back when they had been visiting Mussorie.She too knew that she felt something for him.But she knew that if they wanted this marriage to work than Ruhi had to be taken out of equation.....Sometimes she thought that maybe Kaveri was right,she had to take control of their relationship....Abhira angrily tried to go away when held her from the waist and brought her closer to him,Abhira held Armaan's shoulders while Armaan held Abhira's waist tightly......

Abhira (sarcastically)-I didnt know that I was your mistress and Ruhi was your wife.....

Armaan (scolding her)-Abhira !! Kaisi baat kar rahi ho jaan.....You are my wife....She is a nobody.....

Abhira (trying to scare him a bit)-Armaan if you are not serious about this marriage than I need to know.......Agar tum ab bhi Ruhi se pyaar karte ho toh.....

Armaan (not letting her complete)-Tum aisa sawal pooch bhi kaisi sakti ho.After what happened between us in Mussorie. Tum acche se jaanti ho mai kitna serious hu.....please dont leave me......I promise mai Ruhi ka solution leke aayuga.....Dont talk about leaving.....

Abhira (playing with the buttons)-We need to talk about what happened in Mussorie....

Armaan (smiling widely)-Whats there to talk about Mrs Armaan.....It was a night of love....I am in love with my firecracker wife.....

Abhira (shyly)-You are in love with me ? I thought you just liked me.....

Armaan (chuckling)-Jaan I am long over like....It was always love...No pressure.....Tumhe jab bolna hai bol sakti hoi....(taking a huge breath)-How about a movie and dinner tonight ? Romantic this time,action next time ?

Abhira (smiling widely)-Alright.I will get ready.....

Armaan (smiling)-I will inform Ma and dadisa about our plans...

Armaan decided to take Vidya and Kaveri's help in matter of Ruhi.He exactly knew how to make Vidya agree afterall he was Armaan Poddar.Kaveri and Vidya were suprised to see Armaan at this hour.Usually he came back from firm at this hour.Vidya sensed that something was bothering her son.Kaveri asked him to shut the door and Armaan sat besides Vidya.

Armaan (hesitatingly)-Ma,Dadisa mujhe aap dono se baat karni thi....I just dont know kaise kahu......

Vidya (caressing his head)-Armaan beta dont be hesitant.

Armaan (explaining)-Ma,Dadisa I think you guys should get Ruhi remarried and if not remarried than maybe send her back to Goenka House atleast.

Kaveri (asking softly)-Did something happen Armaan ?

Armaan (taking a huge breath)-Aap dono ko pata hai that me and Abhira are trying to work on our marriage but Ruhi I donot know whether she is lonely or something but kabhi bhi kisi bhi time kamre mai aa jaati hai....And especially when Abhira is not around....Honestly I have tried to let her down easy but woh toh kuch sammajhti hi nahi hai....Today me and Abhira got into argument today because of her,my wife asked me if I was serious about our marriage....Dadisa I will be honest,I love Abhira and dont want to lose her.....But Ruhi toh kuch samajhna hi nahi chahti hai......It just makes me uncomfortable when she is around me.....

Vidya (nodding)-Tu chinta mat kar.....Me and Masa will manage.Tu sirf Abhira aur teri shaadi pai dhyan de......Are you guys alright ? Zyada gussa toh nahi hai na woh ?

Armaan (explaining)-Hai gussa woh,Ruhi makes her feel like woh meri wife hai naki Abhira....You are a woman Ma you know how Abhira must feel......

Kaveri (angrily)-Had kar di Ruhi nai toh.....No woman can tolerate another woman near her husband,not like this......

Armaan (smiling)-Ma I am taking Abhira out for a movie and dinner.....We will get late,wait mat kijiyega.....

Vidya (smiling)-Have a good time both of you....Dhyan rakhna uska Armaan....

Armaan left for their room happy that his plan might work.He had actually tried enough times to tell Ruhi that he was not interested but she would not listen being her too much stubborn self,now Kaveri and Vidya would handle her.....Armaan felt like air left his body as he saw Abhira ready in a gorgeous black jumpsuit and heels along with her mangalsutra......The new one which he had got her after they had decided to give chance to each other.....,to their marriage......Abhira turned around in her husband's arms who had a smirk on his face.....Armaan brought her closer and just as he was about to kiss her,she stopped him....

Abhira (stopping him)-Armaan we decided that we were going to take it slow....

Armaan (chuckling)-We started at stage 3 Abhira.....(sarcastically) We took it real slow.....We took 9 months to even like each other that much....But when it came to real marriage we jumped to direct stage 3 toh kiss.....

Abhira (smiling)-It started with a kiss if you remember correctly.....(taking a huge breath)-Can you give me some time.....?

Armaan (kissing her on her forehead)-All the time you want.....Chale we are getting late.......

Just as Armaan and Abhira were leaving Ruhi thought to go with them however the helper informed her that Kaveri had called her in her room......Vidya had already called Manish and Suwarna for talks.....Kaveri wanted everything out in the open.....Soon Manish and Suwarna came and Ruhi went with them to Kaveri's room who looked furious....Ruhi was scared,only Abhira could handle furious Kaveri and nobody else......Kaveri gestured Manish and Kaveri to sit.....Vidya and Manisha stood near the door,Manisha smirked seeing all this.....Finally her children will be free of this girl.....

Ruhi (hesitatingly)-Dadisa kya baat kya ?

Kaveri (angrily)-Kya tum aaj Armaan ke kamre mai gayi thi ?

Ruhi (nodding)-Ji Dadisa usse help chachiye thi....

Kaveri (questioning)-Kya Abhira thi waha pe ? Did Armaan ask for your help ?

Ruhi (nodding)-Nahi Dadisa Abhira toh office se wapas nahi aayi thi....Armaan.....ne madat maagi nahi thi.....Par Dadisa....

Kaveri (angrily)-Ruhi Abhira Armaan ki patni hai....Woh uski patni hai tum nahi....How dare you cross the dehleez of their room when your jethani was not there ? Armaan tumhara jeth hai pata hai na....

Vidya (angrily)-Woh dono aapne rishte ko mauka dena chahte hai aur tumhari wajah se unn dono mai jhagda huva hai.....Ruhi Abhira and Armaan are married couple....Unki life alag hoti hai...Unhe aapni privacy chahiye hoti hai......Dono kaam karte hai,dono ko saath mai waqt bhi toh milna chahiye na.......Armaan keh chuka hai ki usse tumhara interference nahi chahiye aapne rishte mai......

Manisha (trying to make Ruhi fume)-Aur waisi bhi masa ek doosre ke saath waqt nahi bitayege,rishta theek nahi karege toh aap aur hum dono Par dadisa aur Dadisa kaise banege haina Jethanisa ? (looking at Vidya).

Vidya (nodding)-Aur nahi toh kya ? Unki shaadi ko 1 saal lagne wala hai.....Dono waqt chahte hai ek doosre ke saath,tum usne beech mai aa rahi ho jo koi biwi tolerate nahi karegi....

Kaveri (looking at Manish)-Manishji hum Ruhi ko doosri shaadi ke liye force nahi karna chahte par aap please isse aapne saath wapas Goenka House le jaaye.....

Suwarna (angrily)-Rohit nahi hai toh aab Ruhi ko bhi bhej dege ?

Kaveri (angrily)-Rohit nahi hai behenji....Armaan aab hamara akela pota raha hai,humme bhi aapne par pote-poti ka moo dekhana hai.....Aur Abhira jitni kabil wakil.....Aap kripya karke Ruhi ko le jaye.....

Manish and Suwarna agreed to it and told Kaveri that they would take Ruhi the next day....Ruhi was sitting in the living room crying,waiting to see Armaan....That Abhira had complained against her......She saw Armaan and Abhira coming in happily talking about the movie......Ruhi stopped both of them...

Ruhi (angrily)-Tumne mere baare mai Dadisa se complain kyu ki ?

Abhira (sarcastically)-Mai tumhe school kid lagti hu ? Jaake teacher se complain karrogi......

Armaan (confessing)-Mai tha woh jisne Dadisa se baat ki thi.....I am fed up Ruhi...I love Abhira.Waqt bitana chahta hu uske saath,waqt dena chahta hu hamare rishte ko par tum tum samamjhti hi nahi ho.....

Abhira (angrily)-Tumhe nahi pata Armaan,Ruhi ka ek hi ambition tha......Mera aur tumhara divorce so that woh phir tumse shaadi kar sake.....

Armaan (stunned)-Tum mere bhai ki widow ho Ruhi aur kuch bhi nahi......Tum aisa soch bhi kaise sakti ho.....Abhira meri patni hai....Mere guru ki beti.....How can you even ?Disgusting.....

Armaan was angry.He had never promised Ruhi that he would marry her....Was this the reason that Rohit had dissappeared ? He angrily stormed inside the room unknowingly that Vidya had heard their conversation...Vidya was feeling disgusted,how could Ruhi think of marrying Armaan-he was her jeth......

Here Armaan was very angry,Abhira tried to calm him down but was not working.....Armaan went to take in long shower that would calm his mind......Abhira was checking some of her files when Armaan came outside wearing just his towel......Abhira immediately turned around blushing away but didnt show it to her husband.....She felt his arms on her waist,she turned around thinking he might have changed howver she was shocked.....

Abhira (eyes closed shut)-Armaan jaake kapse pehno.....

Armaan (pulling her closer)-Open you eyes Ira....Aisa kuch bhi nahi hai jo tumne pehle nahi dekha hai.....

Abhira (widening her eyes)-Kitna beshraam ki tarah bol rahe ho !! I miss that khadoos Dadaji......(holding his shoulder)-Did you really tell dadisa ?

Armaan (smirking)-I had to show my wife that I was serious and hence you know I took action....

Abhira (smiling,kissed his cheek)-Thank you for showing your commitment.......

Abhira suddenly shuddred when she felt the door move,Armaan went ahead and closed the door shut......Abhira was sleeping with her head on Armaan's chest and their legs tangled....her hand firmly on Armaan's chest......He intertwined their hands.....And hugged her tightly.....Abhira had been stunned that Armaan loved her but would she able to reciprocate the same level of feelings,the expectation this family had from their daughter-in-laws.....the expectation Vidya had.....All this was scaring her.....Around midnight,she woke up and went out of the house.........She was so scared,she knew she felt a lot for Armaan otherwise she wouldnot have given in that night.....Armaan worriedly went out in search for his wife,thats when he noticed her in the patio outside....He noticed her worried her about something....

Armaan (bringing her out of her thoughts)-Kya huva hai ? Are you alright ?

Abhira (trying to shove it away)-Ha kuch nahi.....Lets go.....

Armaan (stopping her)-No dont shove your worried aside.....Claerly shows that you are worried Ira.....What is it ? (cupping her face)-Shaant ho jao and than explain your worries to me....We are husband and wife.Hum share karte hai Abhira......

Abhira (worriedly)-Tum ne kaha ki tum mujhse pyaar karte ho,& and your behaviour shows your depth Armaan,what if mai woh pyaar tumhe return nahi kar paayi.......i feel a lot for you but tum....

Armaan (chuckling)-Abhira everybody loves differently.....When you feel comfortable tab tum kehna,I am in no hurry jaan.....You giving me a chance matters to me a lot......

Abhira (explaining further)-Armaan Ma and Dadisa would have expectation....i donot know......What if they ask me to leave my work ? meri independece kya hai meri liye you know that (started to take heavy breaths)

Armaan (calming her down)- Shaant ho jao Ira....Relax...(cupping her face)-Ira ye rishta mera aur tumhara hai....We set the tone and expectations....Tumhari independence meri bhi hai.....You are my life...I will not allow anyone to stop your work.....Aur rahi baat bacche ya aisi sab cheezo ki toh we have to decided when we want kids or whether we want kids.....Abhira mai tumhare saath khada hu.....We will deal with everything together......
