Agree whether joint or nuclear living in a familial setting always has it's pros and cons. Sadly, rishta only portrays elders of the family as villains and them changing their perspective forms their core story and it necessarily isn't always true. Simply put because something has been age old necessarily mean it should be shunned, most serials today promote and propagate that false notion.
Just because someone is elder does not necessarily means they are right.
For example, Ghunghat pratha.
It might have made sense in older times to protect woman from invaders. But it doesn't anymore.
So, it was good of Dadaji to accept he was wrong and abolish it.
In similar manner, Muh dikhayi does not make sense in today's time and world.
Or Pehli Rasoi only for Bride. So it was good of Naitik to cook for Akshara too. To welcome her home.
Or fast for Akshara on Karwachauth and teej.
It's time to re-evaluate old tradition that do not fit in present times.
