Abhira defensively wraps her arms around herself, as if shielding against the shame. She is sitting in her room. Dadisa's constant taunts echoed like a relentless drumbeat in Abhira's ears. Each accusation, a dagger aimed at her character, (or taunting her dead mother without any empathy ) fueled a silent rebellion within. Frustration boiled beneath the surface as she resisted the urge to scream. Abhira clenched her fists, resentment coursing through her veins.
The grandmother's taunts played like a broken record in her mind. "What the hell does dadisa even think about herself?" She starts walking to & fro, her steps echoing the turmoil within.
"Oh hello , Ever heard of a wardrobe malfunction?" , Abhira starts mumbling, her brow furrowed with anger. Her hands gestured with a mix of defiance and exasperation. It's not like I opened my saree on purpose! And didn't I apologize?
Abhira's voice wavered with a mix of hurt and frustration. And how dare she keeps taunting me that your mother hasn't taught you anything!
She speaks as if I am some gold digger and married her precious grandson to trap him. I was anyways not interested in him. You can keep him for yourself!
The bitterness in her tone mirrored the resentment building within her. Her frustration bubbled within her as the oppressive air in her new home suffocated her. In the echoes of her anguish, the unanswered question lingered, Why did her mother choose this stranger to get her married to?
Abhira can never forget that heart-wrenching day. The words "Please Marry Armaan" hung heavy in the air, her mother's weak voice carrying an unexpected storm. Looking at her frail mother Akshara Sharma dying on the hospital bed, Abhira's eyes welled up with extreme grief, confusion and bewilderment.
Remembering that day with tears in her eyes, Abhira sits on the bed and cradles her parent's photo frame.
"Abhinav papa, why did you leave me?"
The question lingered in the air, a plea to the father she had never seen.
Her gaze shifted to her mother's image, tears welling up in Abhira's eyes. "Mummy always remembered you, She missed you everyday" she whispered. "Now, Mumma also left me," her voice quivered.
A tear trickled down Abhira's cheek as she continued, "I miss you a lot mumma papa. I hate being in this house."
The walls seemed to close in, carrying the weight of abandonment. "Why did you all leave me?"
