I think, in some ways, it's Nav's delusions breaking down. He is shown to be a very good person, AA and all that, but Ak keeps him in these delusions that they are the perfect family and he should not step back. So whenever Ak or Abhir chooses Abhi over him, his delusions break, and he decides to let go. He let go for Ak before when she ran after Abhi. And I think this time he isn't letting go per say but understanding that Abhir isn't his biological son and he deserves to know the truth. Something that Ak herself doesn't understand cause her own delusions are even larger.
I guess the difference is that in Akshara's case, she can walk back her impulsive actions like running to Abhimanyu by claiming to Nav that it was just a random incident. But in Abhir's case, he isn't doing anything impulsively....this is a result of an organic bonding and trust that Abhimanyu has built with him and it basically hit home in a spontaneous moment as Abhir looked past Nav and ran to Abhimanyu.
Nav definitely took it quite hard in that moment....two things crashed on him simultaneously - the fact that Abhir already knows he's not the real father and second, that Abhir ran past him to hug Abhimanyu....so in that moment his delusion and complacency definitely shattered of being able to comfortably claim Abhir as only his. It was really helping him stay in this delusion that Abhir didn't know the truth...but now that he does, there is nowhere left to bury your head. Atleast Nav seems to have realized that before Akshara.
Akshara definitely remains the clear Olympic gold medalist of all time greatest delusional person.
