I started following Yrkkh and Kaira from August and have mainly watched the scenes before that on Instagram. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Naira portrayed as the strong, independent girl who needed no one's support in life? She spent her childhood in Rishikesh, and did quite well for herself. When her mother died, instead of mourning for her, she took responsibility of her father, of the whole house. At the same time, she was shown trying to find evidence to free Kartik.
During the marriage, every time something went wrong, she stood up for herself and her family. Be it against Dadi or Aditya. She never needed Kartik's protection. After marriage too, there were times when she was humiliated by the Goenkas but she fought most her battles by herself. She was always on the forefront with Kartik by her side. She didn't allow him to fight her battles for her.
When Raghav came, a strong message was sent to the viewers that women don't need men for their protection. During separation, she still wasn't portrayed as docile and submissive. She still had it in her to give it back to Kartik.
However, after the brain clot, why has her character turned into this damsel, who always needs Kartik by her side to protect her and look after her? Why has the Sherni in her died? I know she is weak because of her clot, etc, but the main essence of her character, something which set her apart from the other female leads has been taken away under the pretense of her being too weak to handle anything.
I don't agree with solo fans who say Naira isn't given enough importance in the show or her screen space is less compared to Kartik, but if you think about it, what has her character been reduced to?
I don't know if my post makes sense considering Naira still would stand up for herself given the chance, but having Kartik play her bodyguard for so long is getting annoying. Instead of being there for each other, Naira is shown to live in her own bubble (from quite some time now, be it when Kartik was worried about her and was contemplating abortion, right after the accident, and now) and Kartik has this constant worry that anything could trigger Naira's clot and she would end up forgetting him.
Losing a baby is a life-changing tragedy and I wish Kaira would been there for each other in this situation, but like always, one of them has to hide the truth from the other. Kartik mourned for his baby alone and once Naira finds out, she would be too angry at Kartik to allow him to grieve with her.
How is Naira not realizing something is majorly wrong with Kartik? How have her motherly instincts not kicked in yet and realized something is wrong with her baby?
The know-it-all Naira doesn't even know how to change a baby's diaper after 6 days. Today she was like being a new mother, I don't know what to ask for my baby? Really, you need a manual to teach you what to pray for your baby?
I don't like when leads are shown as the know it all, but at least don't make the character look dumb.
