I think there should be a balance.

Education is important - very few child stars continue successful careers in to adulthood - Whether in India or in USA/UK.
But at the same time if they have a dream then why should they be stopped from working at it? These children obviously wish to become actors so they will act....but like others have pointed out, Education on the sets and in between shoots is a good idea.

Erm....my views slightly differ from everyone else's on this topic . For one,I really dont know if children/minors working in the TV/movie industry can be classified as victims of child labour , they certainly get paid and paid well at that , and their working conditions are much much better than those of the underprivileged children working in factories/eateries etc , who are the REAL victims of this exploitation .

However , I dont like minors participating in REALITY shows....I dont mind them working in normal soaps , provided their parents and the show producers ensure that their studies arent affected [ Like in Balika Vadhu , the child actors study on the sets and take breaks from shooting during tests and exams . Even when the child labour issue reared its head with respect to the TV industry and members of the state-govt. appointed commission inspected the sets of BV , they reported that the kids study and also have good breaks in b/w shots ] But reality shows , with the constant stress and the competitive environment being what it is , go too far , IMO .

Note : What has been said above is PURELY MY opinion , and no disrespect is intended towards anybody else .

I completely agree with u ! the children who're working in TV shows are previledged . We must pay attention to the real victims of child labour.......there are many more serious issues which need to be tackled ....female infanticide, human trafficking, child abuse ..children who're living on streets and they beg for their living , what can be more heart wrenching than this?
The idea of kids coming to reality shows is absurd....What has reality shows done for adults which they're gonna do for children? If a child is talented , can sing or dance well, he has all his life to prove his ability..just one show will not make or break them...but their young minds can't understand that TV channels only wanna mint money..they're not concerned abt their talent.....Earlier I used to watch GK quiz shows on TV, now reality shows have taken over ! surprising !
I guess the parents accompany their children who're working in TV shows...I believe that it's the responsibility of their parents to balance between education & their interests....They may be succesful as child artist but does that mean they'll be as much succesful when they grow up? I mean they can't completely depend on the entertainment industry & ignore their education...they must have something to depend on in future......

I think that even the kids in shows should have regular classes, like the disney channel stars here in the US. the production house pays a teacher to come and teach on the sets!

besides education , the safety factor too is imp. Some child artists have known to B hurt on the sets while doing stunts & needed hospitalisation for weeks ! The long hrs of shooting at odd hours ( at times more than 20 hrs well into the night with just few hrs of sleep ) is another area of concern.

Just some random thoughts:
1. The child who works/ is a part of Showbiz is vastly different from the one who works for his very existence. The former is pretty previleged.
2. The parents are responsible for promoting their child. In today's commercial world : name, fame and glory are important. Everyone is on a ego trip.
3. School life is important for the growth of the child mentally and socially. Where will he get the ambience of school and schoolmates on the sets? Will he not miss something important --- like an everyday life?
4. What is more important is to give the needy child a good life. Showbiz kids are a different entity.
Like C-Sky said, these are mere observations. No one is making disparaging remarks.

Basic school education is very important, esp. primary and high school .. if some1 wants to pursue a career in acting doesn't mean studies should be neglected.. these days life has become so much easy with home schooling and long distance studying through internet etc .. although kids working in TV serials do not attend school, m sure parents ensure that they get the education they need. Like others mentioned that they get tutors on the sets and time off to study .. its up to the parents on how they encourage and support their children and also its up to the kids on how they manage their time and if they are able to juggle both work and studies .. I don't think there is anything wrong with kids working in serials etc .. as long as they have their priorities right and parents drawn a line on how many hrs they can work and at the end of the day they should have enough time for studies and leisure. ⭐️

Yeah i totally agree with that (Y) , i think there should also be a balance , with education and their carreer ,
if a child wishes to do that , but at the same time is learning then thats great! , x

Education is always first, but they are fulfulling their dreams and as a lot of people mentioned that U.S teen starts for disney get teachers on sets so between shoots they can learn and still prosper an education and that should be done as well. Because if the kids are gone then it would be empty.

i think that children working in the television industry cannot be compared with a child who works for earning his living. As here the child is working as a hobby ,and is not compelled to do so.

yes ..education is very important , and a child working in the television industry should try and balance himself with both the things ,the producers can take some steps in respect of appointing teachers for the children on the sets ,but still it cannot substitute the schooly atmosphere but would definately benefit the working children.
