With the upcoming elections, many issues are being brought up.

But one issue that has always surfaced is that concerned with Child Labour.
But how do we describe Child Labour...?
Technically it refers to the employment of children at regular and sustained labour.
Very recently, a topic that has taken the TV industry by storm is the issue related to education of child artistes working in the Television Industry.
The children who light up the television screens with their presence and their innocence have been put to question as they miss their school in order to shoot for their respective shows.
While the entire industry is buzzing and debating over the issue, Mr. Ravi Rai..the ace director has posted his opinion on the issue on the Bidaai and Yeh Rishta director Rajan Shahi's blog.
So guys, please join in and let us know your opinion on this very sensitive issue.
Is it justified for the budding artistes of our country to focus and make their dream come true or should they hit the schools...

I believe that Education should Comes First for anybody mostly kids and watching all this kids doing their shows every week got me think and asking myself that at what time does this kids get to study? it's so not funny and it's something serious, parents should let their kids go to school first, let them grow up befor they start using them to make money, let them face their Education while they are young not run them after showbiz to make money for them while they sit at home and watch them at night telling how to do better in their scenes next time.

I had mentioned this last year when they were having this singing and dancing shows for kids on Zee TV.I just cannot figure out why the parents are so ambititious? They want their kids to make money.

Also the treatment of infants is terrible in the serials. In Saat Phere Once the baby Shweta was actually, putting a pendant in her mouth that Saloni's mom was wearing....what if some toxic stuff sickened the Child? Or if she swallowed a bead? Ptatichi Mehra seemed not to notice it also.

It's ok if they work in the tv serials but the producers/directors should provide the children education on the set or do the shootings with the kid after school.....But NO WAY should the kid be taken out of school for a drama....😕

I think that even the kids in shows should have regular classes, like the disney channel stars here in the US. the production house pays a teacher to come and teach on the sets!

I think that if a teacher is brought onto the sets the children could receive the education that they need to advance through the school system. And they can shoot as well. Education should be paramount. When these kids do grow up it would be nice to know that they gained from education and are able to also work in high profile jobs that require quality education.

everyone show be allowed to follow their dreams. who needs education when ure dreams are fullfilled and u have a secure financial security?
however, it is also true that education provides a fall back plan in case something goes wrong.

so it is indeed a very hard question to follow. i personally am against child labour...education comes first...but where do dreams fall in the lines?

I Know Education Comes First

But the Children who are working in the Industry are getting the Eduaction they need, i am sure they have Private Tutors coming at the sets to teach them.

parents won't want to endanger their childrens future career, because staying in the entertainment business is really hard, you never know when what goes wrong .. and you'll need a back up .. and surely the parents even the directors know that ..

I don't think they are pulling the children out from Education just to make their Show or Film .. that way it not bad, but yeah one thing is that they should keep in mind a Child Saftey, specially the toddlers and babies .. as someone said they tend to put something in their Mouth every now and then, they should really look out for them .. but i think for that, the Mother do come on sets.

Erm....my views slightly differ from everyone else's on this topic . For one,I really dont know if children/minors working in the TV/movie industry can be classified as victims of child labour , they certainly get paid and paid well at that , and their working conditions are much much better than those of the underprivileged children working in factories/eateries etc , who are the REAL victims of this exploitation .

However , I dont like minors participating in REALITY shows....I dont mind them working in normal soaps , provided their parents and the show producers ensure that their studies arent affected [ Like in Balika Vadhu , the child actors study on the sets and take breaks from shooting during tests and exams . Even when the child labour issue reared its head with respect to the TV industry and members of the state-govt. appointed commission inspected the sets of BV , they reported that the kids study and also have good breaks in b/w shots ] But reality shows , with the constant stress and the competitive environment being what it is , go too far , IMO .

Note : What has been said above is PURELY MY opinion , and no disrespect is intended towards anybody else .
