Actress Upasna Singh, who we see in bit roles in Bollywood, makes her stage debut this weekend.
She features as a landlady called Shakku in Anand Mundra and Surendra Mohatta's Hindi play Rasik Machhuwaran.
The play is based on urban Mumbai.
Directed by Pradeep Gupta (Hanoosh), it takes a potshot at accommodation problems in the city with the interplay of emotions and money.
The cast also includes Jitendra Srimali, Vinay Kaushik and Pankaj Mishra, among others.
Rasik Machhuwaran opens on June 12 at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi.
The reason why Singh has been pencilled in for the role is because she expressed a keen desire to do theatre and fits the role of the demanding landlady just perfect. The paying guests, we guess, will have to bear the brunt.
