Shama Sikander Shama aka Pooja of Ye Meri Life Hai is ready for films The popular show on Sony, Yeh Meri Life Hai is coming to an end and Shama Sikander who plays the central character of Pooja is looking ahead with the innumerable film and television offers she has been flooded with. Commenting on the show's closure she says, "I have mixed emotions. I am happy because now, I will be able to explore other roles, but am sad to say goodbye to my character Pooja. Besides, I am going to miss the unit. Everyone from the producer Vipul D Shah, to the spot boy, pampered me on the sets. The show is going off air next month and I already miss it," says Sikander. Sikander, who hails from Rajasthan, plays the character of a Ghatkopar-based middle class Gujarati girl to the tee in the serial. Looking back at her role she says, "I was in two minds before doing the show, but Vipul, who is a very good friend, convinced me to give it a shot. I agreed and it has been a smooth and wonderful ride ever since. There has been a sense of excitement everyday. Ever since I began the serial, my life has oscillated between home and the sets. I can proudly say that I have two families." In her role as Pooja, Sikander had once fainted on the show- a memory which she recalls fondly. "I fainted because I was allergic to the smoke. I remember the good care the unit took of me," she says. What about the future? "I have several offers both from films and television. I have always had offers but I was busy with the show. I am now waiting for a film with the right director and the right script," she quips. |
