After being greeted by the air hostess at the entry of the plane both Sameer and Naina moved towards their seats, hand-in-hand. "Can I take the window seat Sameer?" Naina asked giving that curious child look. "Of course, yeh koi poochne ki baat hai." Sameer smiled and helped her move inside and sat beside her. The air hostess instructed about the oxygen masks and everything they are to do in the time of emergency leaving Naina a bit more petrified. She looked at Sameer who in turn just blinked his eyes assuring her to be by her side. It was time for the plane to take off and they were told to tie their seat belts. Naina looked at Sameer and then looked at the seat belts. "Sameer!" She barely whispered. Sameer looked at her, then her hands that held the seat belts stating that she didn't know how to do it. Sameer held it from her hand and tucked it in. "This way." He showed her how to do it. She smiled at it and sat back.
The pilot announced that they were to take off. Naina's heart started to thump rigorously against her ribcage. She closed her eyes and held Sameer's hand tightly digging her perfectly painted nails in his skin. "Naina, meri taraf dekho." Sameer held her hand and spoke softly. "Nahi!" Naina said shutting her eyes even more tightly. "Tum mujh pe bharosa karti ho na?" Sameer had his tone even more softer. Naina slowly opened her eyes only to meet Sameer's who were adoring her. The wrinkle from her forehead vanished, her heartbeat went to normal and eyes softened. "You may remove your seat belts now." The announcement broke the eyelock. Naina peeked outside and saw the buildings diminishing, realising that they were off already. Sameer removed her seat belt knowing very well she would not ask for his help due to embarrassment of not knowing simple things like that. Naina just smiled seeing him help her.
"Do you want to have something?" Naina saw the air hostess ask. "Nahi." She said and began to look outside again. There were some beautiful cloud though which the plane was flying. She could see a bigger and closer sun and that just warmed her heart and she smiled unknowingly. "Bring me a coffee please." Naina heard Smeer say and that made her look at him and the air hostess. After a while she saw the air hostess hand him his coffee and her smile too. She also noticed a smile on Sameer's face and heard a 'Thank you' too. There was this pang of jealousy that rose in the wifey heart of hers'. "Sameer. Main soch rahi hoon ki exams ke baad air hostess ke liye apply kar doon." Naina looked at Sameer. "But tumhein toh writer ban'na tha na?" Sameer was confused with her decision. "Mujhe lagta hai air hostess ki job zyda acchi hai. Matlab, aapko nayi-nayi jagahon pe jaane ko milta hai, naye log milte hain aur sabse best part, handsome ladkon se kitni attention milti hai. Haaye. Main toh pakka apply kar rahi hoon." Naina said dreamily. She saw him make a fist and grit his teeth. "Koyi tumhari taraf dekhe toh main use batata hoon." He said angrily and looked away. He never expected anything of that sort from Naina after all. "Toh tum uss air hostess ko itni smile kyun de rahe the?" Naina asked innocently. "It was just out of courtesy Naina. Tum sach mein soch rahi thi ki I'm flirting with her? Seriously?" Sameer looked at her, sadness in his eyes, she saw. He just didn't want to talk to her and thus decided to pretend to sleep without hearing any excuse from her over her mistrust on him. Naina, felt bit hurt and decided to look at the clouds outside instead.
After about 10 minutes, Sameer felt something heavy on his shoulder. Without opening his eyes he knew it was Naina resting her head. After few more minutes he felt the shirt getting wet, that's when he looked at Naina who was perhaps sleeping and tears flowing through her eyes. It just broke Sameer's heart seeing her crying in sleep. He wanted to wake her up and apologise for his behaviour. He, somewhere knew, it wasn't Naina's fault . She was just being possessive of him. He was still thinking whether to wake her up or let her rest, when he felt the plane jerk. Being in plane for lot many times, he knew it was some turbulence but the jerk was strong enough to wake Naina up from her sleep. She looked around and saw the first timers screaming and few kids crying. There was one more jerk. She grabbed Sameer's hands and tears started flowing from her eyes.
"Sameer, hum marne wale hain kya? Bolo!" She said between her tears, getting the hold on his hand tighter. "Nahi Naina! Kuch nahi hoga." He tried to pacify her. "Oh God! Main marna nahi chahta. Plane crash ho raha." They heard the kid sitting next to them scream. Naina panicked more making the kid giggle to himself. "Sameer, suno agar main marr gayi na toh tum please rona mat. Kisi aur se shaadi kar lena aur khush rehna. Please!" Naina told Sameer with tears in her eyes. It was difficult for her to say that but his happiness mattered the most to her. Sameer wanted to tell that nothing is gonna happen and it's just some turbulence when they heard the pilot, "It was a major turbulence but everything is under control. You all may relax." It did relax her but tears weren't under control. She silently cried and thanked God for saving them. She withdrew her hand from Sameer's and looked outside trying to hide her tears when she remembered what had happened before she drifted to sleep.
Sameer looked at Naina who was hiccuping silently. He pressed the bell to call for the air hostess who came immediately with the very same flirty smile plastered on her face. "Can you please get some water for My Wife ?" He said looking at Naina and then looking at the air hostess. Naina still didn't look at him but simply wiped the tears with the back of her hand. After few minutes air hostess was back with a bottle of water and left. "Hmm." Sameer said giving Naina the bottle of water. She took it and took three big sips to calm down. "I'm sorry Naina!" Sameer said while she was drinking the water. "I'm sorry too." Naina said giving him the bottle. Sameer pulled out her hand and held it tightly. "Aur tum air hostess chahe toh ban sakti ho if you feel you love this job." Sameer said drawing circles on her and. "Main writer hi theek hoon." Naina chuckled and rested her head on his shoulder. He shifted a bit towards her so that she could rest her head properly. He quickly pecked her forehead and held their entwined hands on his chest where his heart was beating and smiled.
"Kindly fasten your seat belt, we are about to land." They heard the announcement. Sameer let go of her hand and sat straight. "Main help kar doon?" He asked Naina but she nodded in negative. He could see her fastening her seat belt and smiling like a child. Sameer too tied his seat belt and got her hand back in his' and kissed it. Naina smiled and looked outside. She had no fear. "Suno!" Sameer said looking at her. "Tumhein kuch ho bhi jaayega toh tumhara Sameer tab bhi tumhara hi rahega. I won't cry I promise that but I won't give your place, your love to anyone else. Sameer Maheshwari nein apni zindagi mein sirf ek hi ladki ka naam likha hai samjhi! Aur waise bhi, tumhein main kabhi kahin nahi jaane dunga." He confessed. The idea of her, leaving was so horrifying that he clasped her arms tighter. Naina held his hand telling him she'll be there for him, always! "We have successfully landed. We hope you had a great journey. Thank you for travelling with us!" The announcement broke their trance and they looked around themselves. Everyone was getting up and gathering their belongings. Sameer quickly hugged Naina before getting out of the plane and kissed her cheeks. "I love you!" He said. "I love you more!" Naina said and held his arms and got out of the plane.
Wo meri zindagi ki sabse khaufnaak aur sabse yaadgaar flight thi. Aaj bhi jab kabhi plane mein baithti hoon toh mujhe wahi din yaad aa jaata hai. Humnein hotel jaake Sameer ke haathon ka haal dekha tha *Laughs* par ek baat mujhe uss din samjh aa gyi thi, Sameer mere har darr ko sambhal sakta hai. Wo mere haathon ko mere sabse bure waqt mein bhi thame rakh sakta hai. Sameer ki zindagi mein sirf Naina hi hogi. Ji haan, yeh un dinon ki baat hai, jab zameen se hazaaron feet upar zindagi ka ehsaas hota tha.
PS: Never been to planes so everything mentioned about the journey is from the land of fiction land please don't judge me out of it. Thank you! 😳
