This is a common thinking. Everyone thinks the girls who puts on makeup are pretty and every boy likes them.
But my experience is the opposite. For date every boy wants a "babe" but for love ...they all want a girl like Naina. Not so pretty but intelligent, caring , loving ...more like their mom or the mom they've always dreamed of.
Problem is that naa toh society understands it , nor parents. Sharads family also wanted Naina and they still want her. Because they know she is weak as her family ( papa +tayeejee/taujee) will never support her no matter she is right or wrong.
Nania is nothing special. This is the common story of our society. As long as no makeup or chichorapan like Sunanina...she will get this.
No one is seeing what Sameer is seeing in her. If I see her in Preeti or Rakesh or Bella's eye...Sameer doesn't deserve her.. Kahan woh Topper aur kahan Sameer the failure!!! Rakesh knows that very well. Not a single time he doubted about her ...no matter how kharoos he is he is still her papa. I felt this cute. Sometimes unknowingly Rakesh shows his love for Naina.

That's a good point about rakesh. I was not thinking in that angle. Ya rakesh has seen sameer always getting into trouble and not good in studies compared to naina. His image of sameer has been that he is luccha and lafanga 😆(pujya sasurji ke title to sameer).

There is a huge difference between PVKM Sameer and this Sameer which Rakesh never got to see...Honestly I would never want PVKM sameer to be near my own daughter ever...Imagine a boy who can blow away School Chemistry lab by his cigarette in the age of 16 😆😆 he cant create positive image on teachers just like that 😊Naina tried to explain SS that Sameer is no more like that...but only time will show him the reality,...
Rakesh told Sameer not good enough for Naina too...don't forget that. With that Bella chachi and Preeti too told that. Tayeejee is an uneducated lady...she worshiped a pillar when she came to city. Sameer's mama-mami is doing this to support Somani. Vishaka doesn't think Naina is not good enough. She just knows she is not a match to Sameer. Naina is more like Rohan. Usually Beauty and Brain doesn't match and in the world of Shadi brain controls beauty---------Vishaka is scared, that's it.
Somani doesn't know Naina. He is against Sameer's choice. So no matter who the girl is he will always react this way.
It does not matter what both families think, ultimately it comes down to what Sameer thinks.
Just like in 70s & 80s, in 90s too caste, economic status & kundali played a vital determining eligibility of a person. However, I feel what differentiated 90s from 70s or 80s was that although many families were still orthodox in thinking, the kids often had different outlook than elders and dared to challenge them. It was quite common in the 90s to find couples facing parental/familial objection to marry person of their choice. However, lot of the kids used to find a way to persuade family by their persistence and resolution.
Look at the situation, Vishaka does not want to lose Sameer, Sameer does not want to lose Naina, probably Mama/Mami do not want to lose the rich eligible heir who may bring better business prospects through marriage, Taiji does not Naina to marry into rich family and Rakesh is perpetually basking in his ego. Of course, everyone is going to be against Naina. The writers have not shown Naina strong enough to break all social norms for her love. But Sameer's character is different. He has all that rebel 90s love-struck kid vibes. Having said all the above, it ultimately comes down to Sameer's perseverance to stand up to Naina. If he is steadfast and resolute, he can turn tables on everyone for Naina and himself.
