But I still will voice that your posts are way too one sided. Had you done a detailed analysis of Sameer's Shoe act I would have appreciated your posts thinking that you are being neutral but that is not the case..having said that I will wait for your more neutral view of the characters as none of them us fully right they all were shown to have flaws
And yes this will be my last comment on your post.

I haven't had a chance to read all comments and your response to those. But based on your post, I would just say that lot of us are surprised and shocked by the way Naina reacted. But your views on Naina is very extreme which makes the whole post very negative.Every situation can be viewed in a negative and positive way. If we look it in negative way we will not find anything positive but if we try to find positive things, we do find it...
I agree. I didn't relate at all. Indirectly, her family put pressure on her to break up with Sameer after witnessing what happened with Shefali and Arjun. However, this side of Naina was completely manipulative form of hers. She wasn't seeing Munna's concern for Sameer as he supported Sameer post breakup. She just planned a suicide attempt to convince Munna. That was completely pathetic.Originally posted by: ---Khushi---
And the final nail in the coffin was, according to me, that instead of understanding Munna's true & valid concern for Sameer, post Sameer's breakup announcement, & approaching Munna for a heart to heart convo, she accused him of being jealous of her n Sameer. Her suicide attempt was the icing on the coffin, if I may say so 😆Cvs have done severe character assassination of the sweet, humble, loving, friendly Naina. Damage control act is required...asap...else, I for one, am feeling alienated from Naina for the time being, while I was her staunch supporter all along, empathising with her thru out her journey hitherto...Cvs, get your act together, please...😊
Hi
I don't think I have met many of you. I used to write on KRPKAB but not been very active since.. I go by the name DQ and I am very mad.
Disclaimer: I have missed big blobs of the show and might be assuming/ picturing things wrong. Happy to be corrected
Naina believes in the power of authority... school, family, college, above friendship and romance. When she has to pick sides, her flowchart directs her towards the authority and what's legitimate. Numerous posts on the same. Why she does that and all...
Again, I missed some bits, but I think she would have been fine had Arjun-Shefali not happened. So long as this affair stayed a secret till Sameer was financially independent (and atleast 21!), it probably would have worked out. The sub-caste differences would always have been a problem. Nanaji was a terrible loss from that point of view in their love story. He would have vouched for Sameer and more importantly, when he would have Okayed the rishta, tauji & the rest would have followed suit. Also when the right time came (by the 90s standards, if they were both graduates and sameer had a job), chachaji would happily work through the caste differences too.
Hi there,
I am more than 100 % sure (going by the way the writers have deconstructed the character of Naina), in a real life scenario, Naina would have watched Sameer jump off the roof and later justify her action too along with a lecture to Sameer. (Some where in the corner of her heart she would feel regret and pain but after a week she will be ready to move on with another match if her family brings it)
Why so ?
Because years of misbehaviour and taunts have turned her (some where deep inside her) in to a stone cold survivor and pathologically obedient to her family. I say pathologically because her obedience to her family is her rightful right. But that makes any person (Sameer) who loves her romantically (not yet married) to be in a very vulnerable/weak/disposable spot.
Even after marriage, for the current character of Naina, if the husband is like Sameer (understanding, adjusting, loving and accommodating) Naina will take him for granted again doing as she feels like without giving a hoot about the other person's (Sameer's) reaction.
When Naina realizes she has another way to get her pov and decisions around, she will instinctively keep doing it. And in the process, keeping Sameer or their love in a perpetual forced fear. As Sameer loves Naina, he will be forced to this psychotic approach also.
Mind it such behaviour get worse with time and Sameer won't know how to tackle it. May be he will end up doing something in real to himself to stop Naina's constant threat.
Though not always, but it's a fact that many individuals who have been insulted, misbehaved, mistreated for years turn stone cold and ruthless deep inside. It's a Survival mechanism. Surprisingly, such persons if get in to an abusive relation and are dominated always, they stay submissive. For example, take Naina and her submission in front of Sharad. Sharad was abusive, violent, dominant and also slapped her. But Naina took it all. She was submissive.
In contrast, in front of Sameer Naina is not submissive. As Sameer is complete opposite to what is Naina used to in her family and from Sharad.Sameer respects her, always encourages her, boosts her self confidence and makes her feel as the center of his world. And how does Naina behaves with Sameer? Completely opposite to how she behaves with her family and Sharad. She is submissive to them but completely dominant over Sameer. She does and decides as she feels like with Sameer.
I am sad for characters like Naina or others, who have been tormented with insults for years. But, I cannot ignore the fact that such characters like Naina (not all) are many times bound to dominate and manipulate the person who loves them unconditionally - the moment they feel that they have the emotional power over the person.
In our show, Naina is doing the exact same thing to Sameer.
Yes I escaped from Sharad, yes I also did not appear too wrong in front of my family, yes I got Sameer back (was not expecting it), yes My suicide trick worked, yes that Munna is back in line (jyada phudak raha tha Sameer ke liye), yes Sameer is mine and my Chachaji gave him certificate.
No hint of retrospection in Naina shown by the writers. That essentially distorts the character of Naina.
I really liked some parts of your post Dr Don. Attempting suicide is just not done. Especially after she promised chachaji never to do anything to defame the family. The girl needs so much TLC! I like how Munna brought Naina to a point where she had to realise that yo-yo romancing does not work. I was so proud of her when she winked back at Sameer. To me, it said, We are one, even in beech baazar... That is all they need right now. They are what 18? 19? Even by the 90s urban standards (I was a teen in the 90s so I kind of know like some of you!), they have good 2-4 years before anyone marries them off. I am not 100% sure, but wasn't the Sharad alliance kind of propelled by taiji catching Naina-sameer romancing in the wedding video?
It is very difficult for Naina to pick sides where lines are blur. She struggles with lying. So long as she can keep the facade of the good-sanskari-girl, she is fine (because of her conditioning and everything that comes with it). Either they marry pronto, or they fly under the radar. Anything in between, and Naina will drop Sameer like a hot potato because till it's not legitimate, it's a dirty secret. She just isnt ready to put themselves through the QSQT, Dil type scenarios.
The suicide was not a threat.. It was a spur of the moment act (very much in line with the characterisation).. but just.not.done! Also, that was for Munna to see that she cares for Sameer... not for Sameer.
Hey Ashwini (do I remember your name correctly?)

She takes liberty ONLY with Sameer. She is able to be harsh only to him and Preethi. Then to Swathi , Munna and Pandith. Chacha ji is her god..her everything.
You might wonder why she didn't do it when Tayi or Tauji taunted her ...because they are NOT WORTH giving life for. They are imp because they happen to be her family else she wouldn't even turn back and look at them. So this was not a calculated act to begin with , she did go there with that intension . Her mind was clouded and her core character insecurity and jealousy , enhanced her decision...the result ...was on top of the parapet. .
... this... this bothers me so much... Keeping up with her abusers takes so much away from her that she ends up taking her well-wishers for granted. It's again got to do with authority... her peers fall in a lower pecking order to her elders and teachers. Till then, what happens between these two (and their group of friends) remains between them
Chachaji's approval, now means, that she will retaliate in front of her family. Even if chachaji doesn't agree, she will strive to convince him (which is what Preeti was hoping Naina would do in the first place)
The show does a great job of presenting the challenges lovers in the '90s faced
