Till date I had been in notion that Agarwal and Maheswari both are Marwaadi so what should be the issue between them. As I m working in a bank, today I finally asked a marwadi customer that what category is Maheswari.
This is what he told me-
Marwadis are son of Raja Agrasen/ Agrasyen(sorry couldn't hear exact term due to noise). He had 16 son from which arises Garg, Agarwal, Jalan, etc. Maheswaris were children of Das/dasis of Raja, so almost like their servants. Even today in cases where Maheswaris have become Crorepati, agarwal etc dont eat at their house, they will only attend their functions. Marwadis used to be superstitious that their servants should not come in front of them while going out and this culture is followed even in In dino. But that man who told me all this was too good. He told me that he got his sister love marriage done going against almost 150 ppl. The same problem was in Dhadak movie also.
So when Sameer yelled at Naina, it was right that now after 3 yrs she's realizing she's Agarwal and He is Maheswaru

Hey thanks and this description definitely makes sense.

By the way this also shows how much addicted we are to the show.😊
PS: On a lighter note, did your customer ask why you were curious to know about the caste difference.😉

No, he dint ask me the reason of such curiousity but I even let go my lunch time today to know such details. But trust me that man was too good. The way he told that he got adamant to get his sister married to where she wants and he also told me that his sister was the only one happy among all his cousins as marwaadi have hell lot of expectations from their daughter in law and they have kunbas where a girl has to keep everyone happy

Thanks for the information.

Can't believe that they follow these kind of caste discrimination to this extent even these days also. When other countries are thinking about how to provide good health, infrastructure and education to its citizens, we are still stuck in these age old nonsense beliefs. When it is time for a blood transfusion or organ transfusion do they check caste. Feeling so angry on those kind of people.

I am a Maheshwari and never ever heard this version of the story. May be Maheshwari'' under play it as they don't want their ancestors to know that we were servants of Agrawals...😆

What I have always known is that Maheshwari's are somehow linked to Lord Shiva (forgot the complete story, will share if I find it somewhere)

And Agrawals are related to Lord Agrasen... So there no relation just that these are both marwaris and part of vaishya community.

my neighbor i keep telling about is a jain maheshwari. She says this version of story is cooked up and maheshwaris practicing hinduism are vaishnavites who worship vishnu and agrawals worship shiva and that's the basic difference is what she said. Oh and i was talking to her in serial's context only 😆

There is nothing like Jain Maheshwari.

Maheshwari has Mahesh in it which is another name of Lord Shiva. So there is definitely a linkage there. There is story as well that i dont remember. we worship all forms of Lord Vishnu Ram, Krishna, tirupati Balaji. And Shiva equally. We don't discriminate you see 😆
