Maheshwari has Mahesh in it which is another name of Lord Shiva. So there is definitely a linkage there. There is story as well that i dont remember. we worship all forms of Lord Vishnu Ram, Krishna, tirupati Balaji. And Shiva equally. We don't discriminate you see 😆

she said they are jains from marwad region and have maheshwari surname. I din quite understand that bit because I thought marwari is caste. 😆😆
But she was quite clear about vaishnavaite part.

Caste. Creed etcetera common people bother. Stop criticising my country's practices if u don't know how they exactly started.
Everybody starts jumping guns at hindus and their practices but not one knows that christians and muslims too have castes ajd groups and far worse kind of discrimination.

Casteism was based on occupation. People would marry within castes so as to safeguard their occupation and so that their progeny wouldn't be out of work. Its only after divide and rule and colonial rule came to India that things got distorted.
most of the time getting your kid married to same caste person is to ensure she is in a familiar environment, familiar practices etc. For example olden days brahmins and vaishyas(that includes agrawals etc) were pure vegetarian and they would obviously face problem if their kid is given into a caste where they practice non vegetarianism as women were mostly dependant on their in laws and husband for survival.

These days inter caste marriages happen a lot and mostly women are independent so she can be assertive, do what she wants to.

This forum is not the place to discuss casteism andother things related to it. The limited knowledge u.possess or people here possess would not answer many questions. We have all read Indian history written by foreigners and colonial people and propagated by luytens media. Hence until our history stands corrected, stop judging hindus and India

Dear, I am not talking about marriage. But in our friends post she said that even these days they don't eat in Maheshwaris house or don't allow servants to come in front of them. I got so sad by seeing caste difference to this extent. So I just vent out my anger. Sorry if I made you feel bad.
I am a Hindu born and lived for 23 years in India. Had to follow husband after marriage to Singapore and living here closely to 20 years. So I am able to judge where our country is behind some other countries. I know our country got a lot of potential and got gems as her citizens. Still all are not getting same treatment because of these kind of issues.
Once again don't take this to heart.

Ok. Now I understand where is the problem. Truely speaking Marwaris are too strict on girls. The girls of their house had no rights of their own. What is happening with Naina was a reality of that time in Marwaris. I have seen this thing to happen with one of my friend's Marwari gf. She dared to dream and upon knowing that she loves a Bengali boy they took her to Rajasthan and got her married within a week with a widower who had a 3 year old son.
Truely speaking 90s when we were in College, life was beautiful. We lived life fullest. What is happening to Naina was not true for all girls of that time. It differs from family to family, community to community. So, all the girls of this generation don't worry life was not so tough for all in 90s.

whomsoever is thinking that i support such things, I want to tell them I am way against such things as these things are affecting my life also like naina, and I told the whole story that nowadays the younger generation wants to uplift themselves from such things. May be that person was one of those ppl who supported his sister unlike our khadoos kayar arjun. and these things aren't changing because of caste politics and all.
Anyways I wrote such a post becoz i dint googled the difference yet and thought it would be better to know from a marwadi.
because Taiji reaction was as expected over to top but Bela Chachi also said a big No, so just wanted to know the reason

Thank u for making this post
I had thought that Maheswaris do marry agarwals
What they are showing in the show was what happened in reality to many
But in our show and movies, they wud show that love triumphs all!
