Thats the whole point isnt it? On the surface he seems disinterested and to his friends he will make the same claim. But his some expressions and actions speak otherwise..and it doesnt take a genius to work that out, going from the usual flow of such stories where the male lead will eventually change his view after many trials of trying to get his revenge on the female lead.

Sameer ko yeh ehsaas hone laga hai ki use Naina ko lekar uske dil mein feelings aane shuru huye hain. He knows it.
