Part 9
Ishra were busy in their work when the door bell rang, Raman shouted and said
"Ish I m busy ,get the door ."
I- not happening, I m half wet and I m not going to open door in this condition .
R- tu hai hi bekaar, I m opening the door but you have to do extra work in return on this .
I- in your dreams Mister .
R- wait and watch .
Saying so he opened the door and got shocked to see the people standing outside.
R- arey aap log? aise achanak.?
It was Raman's grandparents and his uncle, who had come to see him . It was their routine to come and check on Raman on regular basis ,as he was living alone and they are his only relatives .
(RU- Raman's uncle,RN- Raman's nani,RNa- Raman's nanu)
RU- why are you talking like this , can't we come to see you .
R- yeah ,but it was sudden ,earlier you always informed me ,thars why .
RU- hum yahaan achanak aaye taaki hum dekh paayein tu yahaan kya gul khila raha hai ?
R- what gul ? Maamu this is not done ,you are doubting on me .?
RN- then what should we do ,tu hamein kab se darwaaze par khada kiya hai ,andar nahi bulaaya .
RU- I tell you ma ,there must be some girl in his house thats why he is so nervous .
Raman's uncle teased him but little did know it was true which made Raman actually nervous . Before he could say anything ,ishita shouted from inside "Rams, whose there .its not for me na ."
Elders eyes widened listening to girls voice while Raman answered her " no ,tu apna kaam kar ."
I- ok,then I m going to take bath . Tu jaldi apna kaam khatab kar liyo ,then i will make yummy lunch for us . Ok."
R(irritatedly)- ish ,yu ja na nahaane.
I- haan ,ja to rahi hoon ,tu kya bina baat ke chidh raha hai .
Saying so she went to take bath while Raman looked at his relatives,they were still giving him deadly glare. Raman shook his head disbelief and said " aap log jaisa samajh rahein hain aisa kuch bhi nahi hai ,she is my friend,actually my childhood friend."
RNa- atfirst let us in ,my legs are paining .
R- to aaiye na Naanu ,ye sab mamu ke sak ka natiza hai . Started interogating in door itself . Huh
Saying so he hugged his grandparents and then took them inside . He made them comfortable on couch abd then hugged his uncle tight and asked " you people came after somuch time ,I had was missing you all."
RNa- but you never invited us .
R- I never invited you ,you people come to see me yourself . Ma ke baad aap hi log to hain ,jo mere hain ,either I would had lost myself long ago .
RN- (kisskng his temple )- why are you saying so ,tu to hamara bachcha hai .
R- aaplog baitho main chai bana ke laata hoon ,pakore khaaoge .
RU(teasingly)- now also you will cook ,ab to ..
R- maamu not again,bola na she is my childhood friend aur meri colleague and meri housemate bhi hai .
RU- uff itne saare relations .
R- Nani ,why aren't you saying anything to him ,he is ,go on teasing me .
His grandparents were smiling seeing his uncle teasing him,while Raman was getting irritated . They don't have much age gap, his uncle was only ten years older than Raman so they had a relationship of a friend more than uncle and nephew. They were still talking in the living room having their tea ,made by Raman when ishita showed up saying " Rams kaun aaya hai".
She stopped seeing the visitors, her mouth hung open while she got nervous . She looked at Raman for help when he walked to her and said " ish aa main tujhe introduce karwaata hoon. These are my granparents and he is my uncle ,they come in randomly to check on me aur ye hai meri bestie ishita iyer . Nani you remember when I was in class eight ,I told you about my friend ,aap mujhe chidhate the ."
Thats when they all remember about ishira as Raman use to tall alot about her and that time also they use to tease him about liking her . Nani smiled and said " oh to ye hai teri wo dost ."
Raman nodded smiling fully while ishita went and took their blessing , nani made her sit beside her,caressed her hair lovingly and asked " how do you people met again".
I- I came here to study MBA and found he is also studying in same college .
Na- how is he in college .
I- atfirst he was very naughty and spolied but now hehad changed a lot.
Na- do you like him .
I- yeah ,we are friends forever, I was so happy when I saw him after somany days .
Na- I m not asking about that,I m..
Raman interrupted in mid and said " ish ,baat baad mein kar lena ,atfirst we have to make some snacks for them ."
I- you sit and talk to them ,I will make snacks just tell me whst should I prepare .
R- paneer pakore bana le.
I- but paneer to hai hi nahi .
R- tu batter bana ,I will bring paneer .
I- ok .
Saying so ishra got up and went to do their work while the elders looked at them and discussed " the girl is so nice and beautiful ,I like her already. "
RU- but they are denying why are you pushing them ma .
RN- because I think she is perfect girl for him ,delha nahi Raman kitna khush lag raha hai .
They were still discussing when Raman came back with Paneer ,he gave it to ishita and came back to living room . He settled besude nani snd put his head on her lap ,she caressed his hakr lovingly and said "Raman puttar ,ye kudi to bahut soni hai ,iske parents ka address de de ,so we can talk about your marriage.
R- (surprised)- kiski marraige ?
Nani- teri aur ishita ki .
R- who told you that I m going to marry her .
Nani- ye koi bolne ki baat hai ,tum dono ek dusre ko itne achche se jaante ho , ek dusre ke itne kareeb ho ,saath rahte to aur kya jaan na hai .though we are old but understand everything .
R- haan aur wo bhi galat .
RM- what do you mean ?
R - yahi ki we are just friends, not more than that ,bas . Aur uske saamne ye faaltu baat karne ki koi zaroorat nahi hai ..samajh gaye na aap log.
RN- nahi samajh tu ,hum nahi .
R-(confused)- what I had to understand.
RN- that she is the one for you .
R- ye kya bakwaas hai ,wo mujhe jinda chaba jaayegi ,if she come to know that I m thinking something like this .
RN- puttar you are not understanding...
R- naanu please tell nani not to talk rubbish ,I got her after a long time qhat if she wants to break friendship with me .
RU- aisa kuch nahi...
Before he completes ishita showed up with a tray full of paneer fritters and hot coffee . They had it all, elders were quite impressed with ishita ,they wanted ishra to get married as they were seeing Raman happy and smiling after a very long period. They remembered that he had never smiled genuinely after his mother's demise but now he was quite happy ,as if he was back to life and they very well know yhat its all only because of ishita . As Raman wasn't budging ,they all decided to stay for few days so that they can observe and know true feelings of ishra towards eachother .
