Agree with you completely, both on the fandom issue & the effect of social networking.
Even I don't understand why according to a handful of fans, to be a loyal fan one has to bash other actors.
I guess, those of us who have grown up seeing Ekta's K-shows have developed a strong prejudice against Indian Shows that it's only confined to Saas-Bahu saga. So when we do find a good show, we feel our show is the best & others are crap. Since it's human nature to be biased towards our favorites, a few fans just cross the limit & unnecessarily bash others' choices. What starts as a tweet or status ultimately ensues war between different FDs.
I remember, during my college days I once watched a promo of "Gustakh Dil & instantly developed a strong disliking for the show along with the female protagonist (Sana). Years later, when I had read the review of "Krishnadasi I found it interesting but then again lost interest as they chose Sana as the lead. I still didn't like her. It was only last year, when I accidentally started watching "Bhootu & then binge-watched "Krishnadasi on YouTube. Only then I found out how much she has grown as an actor & what a fabulous actor she is.
I wouldn't compare her with anyone or say she is the best. She definitely has some lackings. But undoubtedly she is good.
Not just her, while watching random clips or shows on YouTube, I have realized there are many other actors who are equally good, some actually better than our favorite actors. But since we don't watch those shows we think our favorites are the best.
I do think social networking has a negative effect on us. Even if we don't participate actively, harsh words used against our favorite show & actors affects us & then we develop a disliking towards those shows & don't watch them.
I think there are many shows nowadays which offer a variety of content with decent performance. I personally liked Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, Krishnadasi, Dehleej, P.O.W., Bhootu's 1st season & recently Bepannah as each of the show presented a different idea. I loved the protagonists of every show for portraying their characters beautifully. These shows & these actors mainly helped me realize that we could actually enjoy different shows without being too much involved in the actors' personal life & FD wars.
Another thing I guess is crucial that shows should actually focus on particular subject rather than introducing various tracks. In such case, creators can present their show & we can also feel connected to the situation.
One big reason, that I personally have lost my connection with both Ishita & Raman is that so many plots have been used & so many times these two have taken OTT decisions that I have forgotten what they were like in the beginning. I wish the creators had focused only on their journey instead of introducing so many characters.
