Chapter I

"I will marry her!"

The voice resonated through the chaotic mayhem and was followed by instant silence. Raman felt sweat break out on his forehead. What had he just said? Why had he said it? How had he even gotten himself into this situation? He wasn't even supposed to be here.

"Mihir!" Raman yelled into the phone. "What kind of an incompetent fool did you send to be my secretary? I asked her to type one letter and she couldn't even do that on time!"

"Bhai! I am sure that you did not ask her to just type one letter. You probably gave her a thousand other instructions too. She is a human, Bhai," Mihir replied calmly.

"Whatever! If she cannot handle the pressures of the job, why was she hired? Anyways, I've fired her!" Raman replied.

"What Bhai? I had to search so hard to find someone who I thought would be able to handle you and you fired her too? You know what? I think you need a robot with multiple supercomputers inside to keep up with you," Mihir complained. "As an after thought, that wouldn't work either. Its battery would burn out within 5 minutes of working with you," Mihir laughed.

"Shut up! You have 24 hours. Find me a secretary or find yourself a new job," Raman threatened.

"Bhai, that's not fair! How can I find someone at such short notice? Bhai.. Bhai.." But Raman had already hung up on Mihir. Mihir ran a nervous hand through his hair as he picked up his phone to dial the HR department's number.

PSR Corporation. Ishita took in a deep breath as she got off the auto and stood in front of the ultra modern tall glass building. She clutched the folder in hand just a little tighter and willed her racing heart beat to calm down as she paid the driver and turned to walk into the building. "Good morning Ma'am! My name is Aditi. How may I help you today?" the girl at the reception greeted her pleasantly. "Hi! My name is Ishita Iyer. I am here to interview for the post of Personal Secretary to the CEO," Ishita said as calmly as she could, given how nervous she actually felt. The practiced professional look on the receptionist's face faltered for just a split second and Ishita could have sworn she had seen her give a pitiful expression. "Certainly Ma'am. Mr. Mihir Arora, the Managing Director, Operations, will be handling the interview today. Please have a seat while I inform his secretary that you are here," Aditi said pointing towards the really comfy looking plush navy blue couches in the lobby. Ishita sat down gingerly on one of the couches and started twiddling her thumbs, the way she did every time she was nervous or excited.

"Mihir Sir!" Priya, Mihir's secretary, called out when she saw him walking down the hallway with Raman. "Yes Priya?" Mihir stopped and turned towards her. "Sir! There is someone waiting downstairs to interview for the post of Raman Sir's secretary." Raman looked up from the file he had been reading. "Thank God! Finally! Otherwise, the kind of reputation you've made for yourself as a slave driver Bhai, I thought I would have to quit my MD post and become your secretary," Mihir said. Raman looked visibly annoyed by Mihir's comment but said nothing. "Priya ask them to send her up. Wait, is it a he or a she?" Mihir asked. "She. Ms. Ishita Iyer," Priya responded. "Great. Ask the reception to send her up and have her seated in my cabin. I will be there in 5 minutes," Mihir instructed Priya and just as Priya turned, Raman stopped her. "Priya! Listen up. Send her up to my office. Not to his," Raman said, his focus back on the file he had in hand. Priya and Mihir looked at Raman surprised. "But why Bhai?" Mihir asked. "Because.." Raman said, shutting the file in hand, "I am tired of the incompetent fools you have been hiring. This time I will do the interview myself and I will hire someone I think can work for me," Raman replied. He turned to Priya and said, "I want Ms. Iyer in my office in 5 minutes." Priya nodded her head and hurried off to do as told.

"Ms. Ishita Iyer"

Ishita heard her name being called out and she almost jumped out of her seat. "Yes!" she said walking back towards the reception. "The CEO, Mr. Raman Kumar Bhalla, will be interviewing you today. Please take the elevators to your right to the top floor. His office is the top floor of the building," Aditi informed her. Ishita thanked her and headed towards the elevators. She hit the button for the 21st floor and waited for the elevator to make the ascent.

Now that's gonna be fun. I wonder of these two remember each other at least if Raman does. Shaadi kis baat ki? Do continue soon.
