Recap: On Raman's continuous insistence, Ishita finally lets out her past to him. She tells him how her parents got her involved in an abusive marriage. Her husband used to beat her day and night. After a near death escape, Ishita finally rebels and gets divorced. But her family has turned their back towards her. Raman is shocked to know what all she has gone through at such a young age. Raman is proud of her and still wishes to marry her! But Ishita puts fwd a condition, she want Raman to tell his family everything abt her past!

Chapter 9

Ishita's POV

With new day comes new strength and new thoughts..

Today is undoubtedly one such morning for Ishita. She was unusually peaceful as she buttered her bread. Just then a soft melody hit her ear, she smiled as she went ahead to increase the volume of the radio playing. It is one of her favorite old melodies.

Chukar mere mann ko kiya tune kya ishara.. Badla yeh mausam lage pyaara jag sara..

(What kind of gesture have you made my touching my soul/heart..the season has changed, the whole world looks loving/lovely)

Such a soulful and soothing song that you just can't help but simply adore it. Ishita hummed the song as she poured herself a glass of juice.

"Beautiful song.." Mihika said as Ishita looked up to find Mihika standing near the dining table.

Ishita smiled, "Good morning!"

"Good Morning! Kya baat hai? Aaj koi bahout khush lag raha hai!" Mihika said with a teasing undertone.

(Good Morning! What is the matter? Someone is looking very happy today!)

Ishita chuckled and looked at her, "sach batau?" Mihika nodded in affirmation. (Shall I tell you the truth?)

"Khushi ka toh nahi pata, lekin bahout arse baad meri life kuch achha ho raha hai.. I'm just trying to enjoy it!" I confessed as Mihika came forward to hug her tightly.

(Don't know abt happiness.. but after long time, something good is happening and I'm trying to enjoy it!)

"I'm so happy for you Ishita! Abb dekhna sab kuch thik ho jayega!" Mihika replied assuringly. She is truly an amazing friend. (I'm so happy for you Ishita! You just wait.. everything will be fine now!)

Ishita hugged her back with same affection, Kabhi kabhi mujhe lagta hai jo hota achhe ke liye he hota hai...Agar Anirudh se talaak ke baad Amma-Appa ne mujhe ghar se naa nikala hota toh shayad main kabhi Mihika se nahi mil paati... Hum women's hostel mein mile the.. Mihika bhi usi school mein padhati thi jahan se maine apne naye safar ki shuruvat ki thi..

(Sometimes it feels like everything happens for a reason.. if my parents had not turned their back towards me after divorce, I would have never met Mihika.. We met at women's hostel..Mihika used to teach in the same school from where I started my new journey!)

Humare nature bahout different hain, I agree! Lekin phir bhi hum bahout achhe dost hai.. Aur iska credit bhi Mihika ko he milega..pehel usne he ki thi.. main hostel mein reh toh rahi thi lekin roz ek phone zaroor karti thi Amma-Appa.. Yeh baat alag hai ki meri awaaz sunte he woh phone rakh dete the but maine koshish nahi chhodi... Mihika shayad kaafi dino se notice kar rahi thi phir ek din woh mere paas aayi aur kehne lagi,

"Main nahi jaanti ki tumhari problem kya hai lekin ek baat zaroor kahungi jo tumhari kadar nahi karta tumhe bhi uski kadar nahi karni chahiye, Afsoos aur dard ke ilawa aur kuch nahi milega!"

(We are completely opposites, I agree! But still we are good friends.. and the credit goes to Mihika..she was the one who made the first move..Although I was living in hostel I never stopped calling my parents.. everyday I used to call them.. Mihika was noticing this for a while, then one day she came up to me and said, "I don't know what is your problem but you must not care for people who don't care for you.. you'll get nothing except pain and hurt!")

Mere haath mein phone tha..main ghar call karne wali thi.. Magar maine nahi kiya! Aise humari dosti hui..

Mihika yateem hai.. Jab woh 5 saal ki thi toh ek car accident mein uske amma-appa ki maut ho gayi.. Shayad yeh he ek cheez thi jo humme common thi tanhai.. Mihika ne mujhe bahout support kiya. Main uske begair kya karti main nahi jaanti..and I'll always be thankful to her for that! I went down the memory lane as I took a taxi to reach office.

(The phone was in my hand.. I was abt to call home, but I didn't! Never after that day.. that's how we became friends.. Mihika is an orphan.. she was just 5 years old when her parents met with a car-accident.. I guess this is the only link that connects us, loneliness! Mihika has always supported me, I don't know what I would have done without her.. and i'll always be thankful to her for that!)

"Good Morning!" Aprit wished Ishita as she entered the office.

"Good Morning jee!" I replied in a cheerful voice as I made my way to desk.

Arpit looked amazed as he followed her, "So..Raman Sir is back to work!"

"Oh Great!" I replied enthusiastically as I picked up the rolled sheets lying on my desk and kept them in the cupboard.

Anamika joined them as she had noticed Ishita coming in, "Hello!"

"Hi.."

"Ishita! Bahout sara kaam hai.. Aggarwal group ke office ke liye rough sketches ready karne hai! Aur please Raman sir ko jakar parso ki meeting ke baare mein update karde! He wasn't in the meeting!" Anamika said it all in one go!

(Ishita! Loads of work to be done.. Rough sketches for Aggarwal groups are yet to be done! And Please, it would be great if you could update Raman sir about the previous meeting! He wasn't present!)

"Cool.. Don't worry I'll update him!" I replied with a smile as I settled down to begin my work. Arpit and Anamika too went ahead with their jobs. After a while, she picked up all the files regarding the meeting and went inside Raman's cabin.

As she stood in front of his cabin, Why am I nervous? Strange!

She closed her eyes and with a deep breath she pushed the door open.

Raman's POV

Kuch din office naa aao toh sab gadbad ho jaata hai.. I thought as I flipped through the pages of a file trying to understand the points. He frowned as he cutely scratched his head.

(Everything just goes over your head if don't come to office for a few days!)

He was going through some points when he heard door being opened. He looked up and his frown turned into a wide smile.

"May I come in?" She asked.

"Yes, Please!" I replied, closing the file and keeping it aside.

"I guess aapko help chahiye!" She said looking at the files lying on his table. Some were closed, some were lying open, and a few were piled up in corner.

(I guess you need help!)

He looked down on his desk, "Even I think so!" I replied with a sheepish smile.

She chuckled as she pulled a chair for herself and then, after a bit of clean up of his table, she laid out the files one by one, explaining him the important points from the meeting. She briefed him about the points their team had put forward in the meeting and also the additions of the seniors.

But who the hell was concentrating on work when she was sitting right in front of him?! As she was busy explaining, he was busy observing her.

She is undoubtedly gorgeous.. Be it be her beautiful almond brown eyes or her luscious black hair.. A natural beauty!

He noticed how a strand of hair kept disturbing her. The wisp of hair kept falling over her eyes, blocking her vision again and again as she gently tucked it behind her ear every time. She was getting irritated, and Raman could see that!

Main help offer karu? I thought mischievously.

Ajeeb baat hai but I'm jealous of that hair wisp right now! Yeh ladki pagal karke chhodegi!

(Shall I help her? Strange indeed but I'm jealous of that hair wisp right now! This girl will make me crazy!)

Exasperated by the continuous hindrance, she finally caught hold of her hairs and tied them in a loose bun.

He looked on disappointed as he loved her free flowing hair, and those cute irritated expressions on her face whenever they disturbed her.

Koi nahi.. Shaadi ke baad nahi bandhne dunga! This thought made him chuckle.

(No problem.. I wont let her tie them after marriage!)

Ishita who was too engrossed in work looked up confused, with What-Happened-Expressions!

Gadhe!

(Idiot!)

"Sorry! Got bit distracted!" I said trying to cover-up but I was caught. She looked at him disbelievingly.

"Aap sunn rahe hai main kya bata rahi hu?!" She demanded as she crossed her arms while he looked away embarrassed.

(Are you even listening to what I'm saying?!)

She laid back on the chair, "Kya karte hai aap? Main itni der se aapko points samjha rahi hu lekin aapka dhyaan he nahi hai?"

(What are you doing? I have been explaining the points to you for so long.. and you're lost somewhere else!)

"Tumhara kasoor hai.."

(Your fault!)

She looked at him surprised, "Achha jee? Aur woh kaise?"

(Oh really? and how's that?)

"Tum itni khubsoorat lag rahi ho ki mera toh kya kisi ka bhi dhyaan kaam mein lag he nahi sakta!" I replied huskily, moving a bit closer.

(You're looking so beautiful that not only me but no one can concentrate on work!)

She smiled coyly as she tried to hide her blush but couldn't! Raman smiled back, looking at her affectionately.

How much I love this blush!

"Kaam pe dhyaan dein!" She finally managed to reply.

(Focus on your work!)

Ishita's POV

Yeh Raman bhi naa! Naa khud kaam karenge naa mujhe karne denge! Har aadhe-ek ghante mein kisi na kisi bahane mujhe bula rahe hai.. Aur jab jaake puchho kya kaam hai toh chup! Kal se yeh he chal raha hai.. Abhi tak toh kisi ne office mein note nahi kiya lekin aakhir kab tak chhupega! Kitna embarrassing lagega agar kisine toka toh? Lekin sunte he nahi hai!

(I don't know what to do with Raman! Neither he will work himself nor he will let me work! He is calling me in his cabin after every half-an-hour for no reason at all.. and this is happening from yesterday! No one has noticed it till now but sooner or later they will notice! How embarrassing it will look if anyone pointed out? but he just don't care!)

Har baar yeh soch ke jaati hu ki unse baat karungi lekin pata nahi kyu unka chehra dekhkar lagta hai, koi baat nahi next time!

(Every time I think abt talking to him but as soon as I see his face, I don't know why but my anger melts away..)

*ring* *ring*

Phir se?!

(Again?!)

She picked up the call, "Jee? Farmaiye!"

(Yes! What is it now?)

"Cabin mein aao yaar ek minute!"

(Come to my cabin for a minute!)

"Jee!"

(Okay!)

She knocked the door, "Come in" he called out from inside.

"Aapne bulaya?"

(You called me?)

"Yup!"

"Koi kaam?"

(Any task?)

"Nahi.. bas tumhe dekhne ka dil kar raha tha!" He replied smiling.

(No.. I just wished to see your face!)

She looked at him for a while in silence, and then, "Abb jau?"

(Shall I leave?)

"Nahi!" Came his instant reply with a chuckle as he stood in front of her.

(No!)

"Ishita, ek baat batao mujhe? Tumne bachpan mein NO word sikha tha?" He asked as he held her hand gently.

(Ishita, tell me one thing? Have you learned NO word?)

Kya ajeeb sawal hai?

(What kind of question is that?)

"Haan.." I replied confused.

(Yeah!)

"Lekin tum istemaal toh karti nahi ho iss word ka?"

(But you don't use that word often?)

"Kya matlab?" I asked, trying to get his point.

(What does that mean?)

"Tum meri employee ho, iska matlab yeh nahi hai ki tumhe meri har baat maanni zaroori hai. Commands follow karne chahiye jab tak woh aapko exploit na kare.. Getting my point?" He replied in a soft voice as she nodded.

(You are my employee.. but that doesn't mean you have to follow all my commands. Follow commands until they are not exploiting you! getting my point?)

Sach mein, iss aadmi ki mujhe kabhi nahi samjh mein aati !

(Sometimes I really fail to understand this man!)

Raman's POV

A few days later,

He came out of the conference room as he checked his emails on his Blackberry. He was about to enter in his cabin when his eyes fell on Ishita. She was there with some of her colleagues, laughing. He didn't realise when a brief smile adorned his handsome face as well. He loved her smiling face especially when her smile reached her eyes, adding a twinkle to their beauty.

Just then, an idea struck his mind. He typed something and after hitting the send button looked in her direction hopefully!

Ishita's POV

She was enjoying the tea-break with some of her colleagues and everyone was busy sharing their childhood memories when her phone beeped, announcing the arrival of message. She opened the inbox to find Raman's message. It reads...

"You wish to know who's the owner of the world's most beautiful smile? Read the first word again!"

Ishita smiled widely as she read the message. This didn't go unnoticed by everybody else.
