He saw the marks of the cat's paws on her back, as if it had just walked over her. Not just that, he saw his neatly pressed shirts crumbled and stuffed in the ward robe. His project files were thrown behind the cupboard. Something was definitely going wrong in their house but he wondered what it was and how was it related to the cat?

Part 3

"Ishita...What the hell is going on??" asked Raman, completely shocked.

"I don't know Raman..so many things are happening ever since that cat doll came into the house. It is very strange and scary. Clearly something is abnormal. Raman, we need to find out what's going on and stop this soon."

"Oh nooo..." came Romi's voice from downstairs just then after a loud crash sound.

Ishita and Raman rushed down to the kitchen where the entire family had gathered and looked absolutely shocked. The circular glass dome covering the light bulb in the kitchen had fallen from the ceiling and crashed on the floor breaking into fragments. Raman alerted everyone to stay whereever they were standing.

"How did this happen Romi?" asked Raman as Ishita and Simmi walked into the kitchen carefully and started sweeping the floor.

"Bhai I took some icecream in a bowl and turned to put the icecream container back in the fridge when this dome fell down from the ceiling. If it had fallen a second earlier, it would have landed on my head. Baal baal bach gaya aaj" said Romi still trembling thinking about what happened.

After calming everyone down pointing out that nothing happened to Romi, Raman signalled asking Ishita to meet him for a minute. Raman told Ishita that things are getting way out of hand and they need to get rid of the cat immediately without saying anything to the family members as they will get really scared. Raman asked Ishita to get the cat out without anyone realizing and meet him at the parking lot. Ishita and Raman took the cat and threw it in a dustbin, 5 kms away from their home. They returned feeling relieved that they had ended their problems but just as they entered the house, they heard a sound. When they heard it for the second time, they just looked at each other in disbelief.

"Meowww". They could hear and feel their heart beating really fast.

"Rrr Ruhi..Aaa di...how did this toy come here?" asked Raman.

"Papa, Rinki bua saw the cat lying on the bench at our parking lot and brought it home. Pata nahi who took it outside" said Adi.

Raman and Ishita were speechless. How did the cat doll get back and that too before their return? How do they find a solution to this problem? These questions were running in their minds on a loop.

"Raman I think we should tell Mummyji Papaji about this"

"No Ishita, they will get extremely tensed and might not be able to eat or sleep properly. It is enough that we both are suffering. Let us both try to solve this ourselves. We know that there is some paranormal force involved.I'll check online and speak to a psychic who can help us finding out whose spirit this is and give us a solution to get rid of it."

"Haan Raman. Please please be careful. "

Raman met the psychic, explained everything that was happening and brought him along to the house to find out who the paranormal visitor is. Luckily the entire family had gone to Pammi aunty's house for maata ki chowki. Ishita gave the excuse of being unwell and stayed back in the house after she received a call from Raman informing her that he will be bringing the Psychic home. She was in her bedroom looking at her phone when she felt her eyes closing due to the lack of sleep. She dozed sitting on the bed when suddenly she opened her eyes to an angry voice. Just then Raman arrived with the psychic and stood at the room entrance stunned at the sight in front of him. Ishita looked shocked too to see a person standing near the bed ready to attack her and strangle her with a pillow in her hand. That person was none other than Rinki who looked very angry now and was about to attack her own bhabhi. However, the voice that Raman and Ishita were hearing and the words that Rinki she uttered was not Rinki's. It was someone else who was doing this and from the words they heard, they understood who that person was. Raman tried to rush in to save Ishita but the psychic held his hand and motioned him to wait. Ishita merely stared at Rinki while she pressed the pillow against her face trying to suffocate her. Just then the psychic yelled "Hey" out loud making Rinki drop the pillow breaking her from the trance. She became unconscious and fell on the bed while Ishita held her and made her lie down.

They stepped out of the room with alot of questions which the psychic answered assuring them that this can be resolved but only with some patience. Raman and Ishita told the psychic everything they knew and added that all this was a misunderstanding and that the family did not intend to harm anyone. They were anxious to communicate with the spirit and clarify things and seek forgiveness for past mistakes that might have happened beyond their control. The psychic said he will try to contact the spirit and request it to leave the family, but asked Raman and Ishita to keep a close watch on the family and report anything that is unusual to which they agreed. He explained that the spirit is using Rinki to seek revenge as she is in a vulnerable state right now and cannot think clearly so it is better to take extra care and precaution when Rinki visits. After the psychic left, Rinki woke up still feeling dizzy wondering how she landed in her bhabhi's bedroom. Ishita told her that her bp must be low as she fainted and brought her some lime juice. She was still confused but was moved by the care and concern that her bhai and bhabhi were showing to her.

Over the next couple of days, while the psychic attempted but failed at convincing the angry spirit to leave, Raman and Ishita tried their best to control mishaps in the house and were successful to a large extent. Still, there were one or two incidents which happened beyond their control and suspicion. For instance, Toshiji's hand started shivering while she was talking to Romi, spilling hot tea on her hands. Another incident happened when Raman's laptop shut down all of a sudden making him lose some important contract document that he had spent hours typing. Frustration mounted, but Raman only scolded himself for not saving the document while creating it. The psychic contacted Raman and asked him to inform the family members so they can do a mass appeal to the spirit and maybe then the spirit will leave. Raman and Ishita decided that they will first speak about this to Romi and Simmi respectively and get them to understand the situation before informing their parents. Simmi was shocked hearing everything from Ishita and started trembling worrying about future mishaps. Ishita calmed her down and explained to her that they would have to stay strong and deal with this.

Raman went to Romi's room to speak to him about the strange occurrences but noticed that Romi and Sarika were having an argument. Sarika wanted to do her MBA but Romi discouraged her saying that Rohit needed her attention. Toshiji, who already had a hint about Sarika's wishes, suggested to Romi that he ask Sarika to concentrate on Rohit for the time being. When Sarika made it clear that she will do what she thinks is best for her, Romi snapped at her asking her to first take care of the family. Romi noticed Raman at the door and invited him in. Raman decided not to talk to Romi about the strange activity just then as they had just argued about something and he was also not comfortable talking about it with Sarika nearby. He told Romi that he made a casual visit as he was missing Rohit and handed over the baby milk powder that his company had recently manufactured. Romi, looked at a Sarika who still seemed gloomy, and asked her to hang his towel in the bathroom as he kept the hot water ready for his bath. Irritated with him, Sarika decided to grab her towel and have her bath first to irritate Romi. She hung the towel and noticed that the hair dryer had now fallen from the countertop into the bucket with hot water. What she didn't notice was that it was still plugged in. She announced aloud to Romi that he was so careless for dropping the hair dryer into the bucket and was about to pull the hair dryer out when Raman, who was playing with Rohit, heard this and rushed to the bathroom yelling

"Sarikaaa..Nooo"

He pulled Sarika, making her lose her balance and land near the bathroom door, while he lunged forward, accidentally touching the wire for a brief second. He felt a sharp electric shock vibrating till the top of his arm, making him fall on the bathroom floor. Romi and the rest of the family came hearing Raman's voice. Ishita helped Sarika up first asking her if she was ok. Romi helped Raman get up and made him lie down. Thankfully it was not a bad shock and did not cause any serious damage. With rest, Raman was feeling normal again in a couple of hours. Romi thanked his brother for saving his wife and also hugged and kissed Sarika and apologized for his carelessness (or so he thought)and for being rude earlier. Sarika was teary-eyed when she thanked Raman for saving her life and apologized to Raman and Ishita for misunderstanding them earlier.

Ishita and Toshiji sat at the dining table thanking the lord for saving Raman Romi and Sarika from the danger. Ishita sat wondering if paranormal activity was involved in this incident. She decided to speak to Raman about it once he feels better. Her thoughts were disturbed when Rinki walked in crying.

"Kya hua Rinki..are you ok"

"Bhabhi Bhai kahan hai..I came here because I realized my mistake and wanted to apologize to you both. I'm coming from Ashok's house. I heard him telling Suraj and Param how they plan to use me as a puppet to break our family apart and also destroy bhai's business."

"I was a fool to turn against my own family and listen to that kameena Ashok. Please mujhe maaf kardo bhai sorry bhabhi" said Rinki crying inconsolably.

"Rinki..ssshhh nahi baba...maafi kis baat ki...you were, are and will always be a part of us. Der se hi sahi, I'm glad that you realized things. Just think of it as a bad dream and forget about it." said Ishita as she hugged Rinki.

Raman and Ishita gathered the family in the living room and informed them that they have something to tell them. Everyone listened in total shock and silence as Raman revealed that they had a paranormal visitor who was here to seek vengeance for mistakes that they had made and for misunderstandings that they needed to clarify. Ishita then told them that it was Sarika's mother who, out of the love for her daughter, returned to protect her and teach Romi, Toshiji, Ishita and Raman a lesson for all the trouble that her daughter went through.

Sarika opened up and spoke about her mother after Raman and Ishita requested her to tell everyone about her mother.

Sarika took care of her unwell mother and was struggling as the salary she earned was not enough for her mother's medical expenses and treatment. In such a difficult situation, Sarika's mother, who was feeling guilty for being a burden on her daughter, came to know about her daughter's pregnancy. She couldn't bear to see her daughter face more and more problems and hated the guy and his family for the way they treated her and for not accepting her, knowing that this wasn't just her fault. She felt helpless thinking that if Sarika's father would have been alive, he would have fought for her rights. She cried watching Sarika struggle trying to make ends meet as a single pregnant woman. Her mother breathed her last after suffering for a long time from both physical and mental pain.

Everyone had tears in their eyes and a heavy heart as they heard Sarika speak. They were quiet for a few minutes. Ishita was the first to speak up.

"She wasn't able to protect her daughter when she was alive, but now she wanted to be there for her daughter, and not let anyone misuse her kindness. Her mother felt that we accepted her now for our selfish reasons and not because we love her. She felt her daughter is here only because of Rohit. When she noticed that Sarika was sad about something that one of us said or did, Sarika's mom decided to come and take care of her while teaching a lesson to those who may have troubled her in some way or the other."

Romi and Toshiji apologized to Sarika and her mother for being unfair to Sarika and for not realizing her worth sooner. Toshiji hugged Sarika and cried her heart out saying that this family loves and needs her as much as Rohit. Raman and Ishita clarified that they have always liked Sarika but were sorry for not standing with her in her fight for justice, nor were they able to convince Romi to commit sooner. Toshiji told Sarika that she and Ishita are like her own daughters and wants them to be happy always. She asked Sarika to share her dil ki baat openly at all times and not have any inhibitions anymore. She stressed that this is her home now and these people are her own and will support her always. Sarika cried hugging Toshiji and apologized to everyone for her strong words in the past. She spoke out to her mother telling her that she is very happy now and loves her husband and her family a lot and is completely sure that they love her back too. She bids a tearful farewell to her mother telling her to leave feeling happy that her daughter now has another mother to take care of her.

The psychic called Raman the next day and told him that Sarika's mother's spirit communicated with him and informed him that her spirit is leaving the earth as she is convinced that her daughter is loved by her new family and she has no reasons to believe otherwise. Ishita felt it would be best to forget things move on and gave the cat doll, few other toys and some clothes at an orphanage.

Ishita and Raman were happy that everything went back to being absolutely normal now and that they could resume their routine. Raman suggested that they need to go on that honeymoon trip now to relax and he won't take no for an answer. To lighten up the mood, he teased Ishita further...

"Acha after the other night, you didn't tell me if I'm still a number two"

"What two? what are you saying"

"I'm asking if you still rate me as number 2"

"Ofcourse not..you are number 1 for me"

"Kya???? I got demoted from 2 to 1??Are you mad? I couldn't have been that bad!!"

"Bad? I seriously don't understand your jokes sometimes...asli raavan kumar ho. paithiyam"

"Oh hello..madrassan...paithiyam mai nahi tum ho..after the first night together at the hotel, when I asked you to rate me out of 10, you gave me 2 and now when I asked again you said i'm a 1...are u freaking kidding me? I thought I made some better moves the second time just to prove to you that I'm a tiger"

"Aiyyo murugan that was a rating for you..for...that? hahahaha.. Kadavule...Raman...kya aap bhi...who asks such questions..woh bhi bathroom se?Arey I thought you were asking me to rate the breakfast..the idli vada uthappam!!"

"Areyyy..paagal aurat..kabhi toh idly vada se upar aao aur aadmi ka efforts dekho..band baja diya mere mardangi ka tumne..jao tum"

"Hahahaha acha suno na..sunooo..sorry na baba...let me clarify now"

"Bolo"

"You are..."

With that he carried her and dropped her on the bed, falling on top of her.
