G, the TRP aunties cry with the female lead. So, the majboority of female lead is directly proportional to the tears shed and TRPs. Hence she should be mahan. Male lead only comes into picture for romance. This is how most of the desi shows run!! *sigh*

I still have hope.. Rather hoping beyond hope that the team will reemerge from this horrible streak of melodrama and go back to writing meaningful episodes. They can't always blame the audience... Good tv has its audience too.. Only the ph / channels needs to stop salivating for TRP numbers to garner more ad revenue. YHM itself is a case study of a good show butchered in TRP block

Are you back from your vacation ?

With my experience with Indian TV, I can vouch that no good TV show will survive for more than a year. I had seen lots of shows which were excellent in many ways like NBT, Bhasker Bharti, EHT etc. No show survived for more than a year because they were not the regular saas-bahu dramas and couldn't cater to the larger audience. Eventually, the makers had to move them towards melodrama due to less TRPs and due to the fear of getting axed by the corresponding channel heads thereby royally destroying them.

Here it's all in the numbers!! That's the harsh reality of Indian TV.

Gan very pertinent kostin darling! It's like the 'what is life' kinda kostin-you spend your entire desi tv viewing life looking for an answer and in this case disappear into oblivion without an answer 😆

On a serious note I would like to see what folks have to say! I agree with you and Vee completely.

True story: I used to watch this show on Sony a couple of years back-passionate love story of an older woman and younger man. I personally thought it was a great story-couldn't get enough of the lead couple and their love story. It was produced by a very reputable rich PH and the writer writes for movies! Reputable guy.

Anyhoo 60 or so epis into it-it took the predicted nose dive into BS! I couldn't believe how quickly it went down the drain. I am like Becky, have a Twitter account but never use it. I used it first time to initially praise the cvs(the confession scene was to die for) & later express my frustration! So the producer actually replied to me saying it's only the first few episodes that they have the freedom to show what they want-after that it's what the channel(read TRPs)wants, they dont have a say. I was shocked by her response. By this time the initial writer, director everyone had quit. But if a rich PH doesn't have the balls to believe in their story and steer the story and characters without worrying about TRPs, I don't know if we will ever see unique concepts and stories survive.

So yeah coming back to your million dollar kostin-if and when someone finds or sees the answer, I would like to be informed please-because that will be a momentous occasion for me-lol

Ooohh!! I know which show u are talking about 😆. Yes, it was good initially and as I said they would eventually ruin them due to various pressures that u would fail to recognise it was the same show that u were watching up until now. 🥱

LOL G, i learned trp aunties from IF too. Actually I learned about the whole system from IF.

My theory is these are aunties and nanis, dadis who can probably relate to these melodrama bahus because of their experiences when they were young. Thats is probably why they enjoy watching it or they just enjoy watching unnecessary 🤬 because it better to deal what is going on in their life.

Once my mom was watching this really regressive drama and I asked her why she enjoyed watching it and she said she can relate to the female lead. I did the biggest facepalm that I hurt my eyelid badly.😭

My bf took on a big criminal case on Friday, so he is spending Easter in the office doing prep, and I am sulking at home over my cancelled getaway.

I remember reading about buniyaad, humlog etc. EK has a lot to answer for.

Funny story - my 76 year old aunt, who is a life long spinster, not a Gujarati, an observant Christian, a retired teacher and has lived in California for the past 20 years, is obsessed with SNS. On my last visit to her in December, I asked her why? She said she could relate to the characters. I said really Aunty S, you can relate to what???? She couldn't explain, and I couldn't understand. I showed her an episode of 11.00pm YHM on my ipad. She said she didn't like it. Go figure.

Aaawww Vee 🤗 ,

Buniyad was an amazing show ! And if I am not mistaken there was one on SP itself by neena Gupta called saans it was based on extra marital affair n was really wonderful !

Most of this regressive stuff, we need to put the blame squarely at EK doorstep ! Indian tv was not that bad earlier, in fact there used to be amazing shows when I was young n before the advent of cable tv ! Really really great shows !
