Yes, Adi was always a badass but he was never this violent and he was definitely not a schemer and plotter. CVs wanted to torture Ishita first and then to glorify her mahanta, hence Adi's character is also compromised. Adi's hand burning scene was the start of this mess. Earlier Adi used to be provoked by someone (mostly Ashok) to take drastic step but he is now being portrayed as a criminal. CVs want to show Adi is a gone case but Ishita with her goodness will achieve the impossible. They also unnecessarily degraded Shagun as a mother just to glorify Ishita. Ishita already is a fab mother to Ruhi, CVs should have been limited to this relationship. Yeah, she can always be a guide to Adi but she wants to be Adi's mother too, it's kinda far fetched. Because unlike Ruhi, Adi already has his mother.
