Nisha ..I have been born and lived most of my life in urban india...and the reality is that the young generation is more closer to what we see in the urban focussed so called multiplex hindi movies...boyfriends...intimacy etc...are all very much there..and across all class n income groups...
.certainly not the prove you are a virgin world anymore...and honestly that's as regressive as some age old customs binding widowed women to the house. .
Virtue. .values and marriage are still valued by Indians ..and kids are educated enough to understand choices and repurcussions..I don't think that is connected to this issue.. Here it's just a mentality which defines character based on a medical knowledge which is weird 😕...Boys unfortunately can't go through the same thing..I guess the value system applies to both...
Promiscuity is a choice. .and intimacy is not promiscuity or lack of virtue...it is sad that such a point us still being made by a huge medium like TV🤢

Issues the first world faces are very different..india hasn't got there yet..and we still have a lotta respect for social bonds..esp with parents and family..And that is a very good thing. ..but tying this issue to that is not disrespect of customs certainly..

Had to..had to rant...😆..just MO😊

You probably know and understand decisions are rarely taken by the individual in India... especially single girls, how ever "modern" are still accountable to their parents

Just a thought...

Nisha..I understand your point too..I come from a conservative family too..but my issue about making those assumptions is just that..

My point..Leave it at no rape..why send a screaming message to the audience. About her virtue being intact...?
Would the iyers love n respect n trust on mihika change if she had slept with her fiance? And if cvs didn't want to risk making a statement so debatable..why even pick up the issue..By thn linking virginity to character...😲..and heaving a sigh of relief..thank god she is pure😕

I dont agree with verify virginity before marriage etc... that might be yet another urban myth perpetuated by Western media just like flying carpets😃

Some societal norms are hard to change... some changes are GOOD some not so good...

US grapples with teen pregnancies, India doesnt
US struggles with gun violence in schools India doesnt

I do agree there are many other issues in both countries...

Marriage is still considered respectable...in India
In a country where lawlessness is such a huge problem there are many benefits to some things being the old fashioned way

Thanks for respecting my opinion

Nisha (can I call you that?), I don't believe that being virtuous or "having a good moral" has anything to do with being a "virgin". I think that is entirely an individual's choice. I agree that some social norms are hard to change, and especially in India where societal acceptance of behavior is put way above an individual. But I also thought that they could give a great example of progressive India with this topic because even though its not liked to be talked, "sex before marriage" is practiced in India. I am just not ok with them showing that being a "virgin" is what makes a good Indian girl.

LA

I understand where you come from
But when you sign up to watch a Desi SAAS BAHU show some things are pre determined😃

Such things are valued by the majority of India.. majority believe being a virgin is good... it might change in the next 50 years or 5
I am not a social scientist so wont predict that

Whatever is preached on this Forum is not how India lives... yes there are pockets in URBAN india and RURAL India where virginity doesnt mean a thing

For the middle class it still is a big deal...
The makers did not claim to be progressive or modern or intending to appeal to a segment of modern women on the Internet, unfortunately

Just like someone insultingly said... These shows cater to "TRP Aunties"... the demographic the show caters to I believe such content is all in line😃

Cheers!😃

Aww but nisha they did. ..the makers claimed this was a modern show..when they launched it...😛..not your regular trp audience show..
in EKs words... for the working urban couple who reaches home after work at 10pm...and so they can catch something they can relate to. .hence the insistence on the 11pm slot...😆

Honesly...this cannot be digested by any urban educated woman in india. At least the people I have grown up or studied with..it will just be met with shock or sniggers...maybe tier 2..tier 3 towns. ..but then it's just plain hypocrisy. .cos the reality if one stepped out or even glanced out of windows in smaller towns also is no diff..

TV...esp trp hungry 7 30 television just wants to reiterate a point so that a group of regular trp audience can heave a sigh of relief...thank god the gal is still good. .and not TAINTED or SPOILT...that's the only reason I can see for this..🥱

Everyone dont take this serial seriously, there r too many things that they have made us digest under the guise of Modernity, Feminism etc. 😆 I think CVs themselves dont have the maturity of handling Mature issues now. 😳

I m not surprised by their double standard views of Virginity in females- My Feminist mind says then Ishita doesnt deserve Raman coz he is not a Virgin. 😆

Do CVs have any of the answers for their double standards they show in making Molestor ur brother, girls get molested or raped when they wear western outfits, Best Friendship between Man n woman means u shud forget all ur other relationships, forgive ur Molestors n attend their wedding etc. Please add if I forgot something coz the list is endless.

yeah this stuff doesn't apply to men...molest ..lech. .get women pregnant. .But you get to marry a sanskaari pure gal at the end if you belong to a sanskaari family..🥱..yeah poor ishu.. what did she do to not get a virgin husband😲😆

On a side note meghz..I also kind of get why they digressed from the book even for ishita's character...a central character after all..
.in the book she was married and had tried to conceive...and then realised she can't. But that would mean she isn't a virgin...and pray how can the female lead be apavitra🤢🤢..hence here ishita realises her deficiency during the engagement itself...😕

😆 believe me I have only 2 ways to tke this BS-

A. Join twitter n troll Taklu n get all my frustration out on him for the BS he is serving us (especially degradation of women). Believe me I can do a gud job at that n praise him with better adjectives than what I have ever used for Shani.

B. Or just enjoy d fun n watch a serial go down a drain.

For my own Sanity I do B.

Bottomline is never let anything especially a TV show affect u mentally or Emotionally. I learnt my lesson well. 😳

Maybe ya that might b a reason 😳 but then these things didnt matter coz Ishita n Ruhi relationship was the crux of this serial.
