I'm a Tamilian.. My mom wears kancheevaram for weddings and festivals sometimes. But nowadays everyone's changing.. Esp women of Ishita's age, i don't think they prefer kancheevaram that too at parties.. Even with kancheevaram they have more styles these days with stones and work like designer sarees.. Ishita wears the worst sarees .. Even old ppl wouldn't wear such sarees these days.. And what they call kancheevaram is not real at all.. Totally fake..I think the one cream and red saree which she wore for varalakshmi pooja is the only real kancheevaram saree i've seen on the show till now.

The main problem is the makers be it TV or Bollywood tend to stereotype South indians.. The way of talking, the dressing , use of flowers, hairstyle everything is stereotyped.. They need to realize sometimes it gets offensive and these days everything's changing. Sometimes they don't even know difference between Tamil and Mallu ppl.. No one displays mangalsutra in tamilians but u can see amma and ishu doing that. Also idly and vada and rasam and payasam are not the only food in south india. YHM always shows only these things.. and the use of aiyo murugan, the accent sometimes is very irritating.

But ..Sigh, this stereotyping will never go. Can't do much about it..

The funniest thing is that the black saree that Ishita wore was not even a kanjeevaram. It was a silk bomkai from Odissa...that too a fake one.

Totally...it's not that Tamillians have only this one type of attire. I'm not a Tam but my gut says that there must be more than Kancheevaram sarees. Even though she is from a family who believes in conserving their cultures, that doesn't mean that Tamillians don't have any other type of traditional wear.

Seriously CVs should expand their researching as they go on with the show...they're still stuck with the same damn clothing.

The problem with YHM in addressing culture is that they stick to stereotypes, be it the food, the "ayyo" before every sentence and even the whole kanjeevaram thing. And I believe this applies to the Punjabi culture as well that is portrayed. We live in a day and age where no one really stick to stereotypes, we blend with different cultures, with our surrounding and our experiences. Unfortunately, the CV's do not seem to get that in their quest to portray the drastic differences between the two cultures.

Ya I completely agree with you BTW who includes idly as a part of d marriage menu ! 😕
