Hello lovely fellow YHM lovers ...
What can i say .. humbled ... beyond words ... for the encouragement each & every writer here gets .. Its awesome when we all come together & share .. just the other day ... i was on PM with Thithlidhost ... Radz ..(we share a rapport since IPK days) ... well she pointed out a scene to me .. for which i had a very obscure explanation .. since i did not focus much on it ..

But when she gave me her POV .. it blew me .. it made me look at that scene with awe .. would love to share it with u guys ..

The Raman gyaan giving dialog exchange on Golu puja & navratri in the episode .. where Mani adds his bit on Durga puja ... i looked at the scene as .. Raman talking about family .. coz he was talking about unity of a family .. but Mani stepped in .. & spoke about Durga puja . his facts were wrong & i thot he moved the topic away from family ...

THITHLIDHOST's .. explanation ..

Did Mani actually move away from family with his comment or put the focus on Durga? 😉
His comment was Aur thum durga pooja bhool gayee? .. Ashtami navami ke bath, vaham bhi visarjan hota hain..
I felt that dialogues were very deep seated.
He is in my mind telling RKB to focus on his wife. He is saying family is fine but durga puja is more imp.. And visarjan also should happen.. Now that is what i like 😉.. Visarjan in other words is letting go ans start with new beg..

To say i was floored by her response is to put it mildly ... it was like "batti jalli" moment for me .. I don't focus on mani much .. to me till the character is fleshed out i don't pay much attention to them .. but in my ignorance i missed out on a gem .. We did not have the same view point .. but its respect for the others opinion which made us discuss this .. & i was totally in love with her explanation .. THANK U RADZ ...

the reason to share this here was ... please keep on sharing ur views ... it helps all of us to connect to the show .. so many of us miss out on so many nuances .. & so many of us look at a scene with a different lens .. each lens adds that extra bit to the show .. each lens is what u took away from the shot or scene .. & that makes ur thot special ...

Thank u all ... for sharing .. its humbling & heartening to see such awesome talent on the thread & forum

I am sorry i may not answer each & every post or thank each & every one of u individually .. but please each & every comment makes me pen a thot ... so thank you ..

One of my most fav scenes, one of the most amazing convos of this couple so far...

I had to begin my reply for this post today with this conversation Ruby...don't know why but the moment I read this post last night this scene just came to my mind like the song came to yours... sometimes you really can't explain why a particular thing strikes a chord with you the way it did/does.

But this convo just seems to encompass so much for me... a man retorts to his wife' accusations with the first line when she says he was putting the blame on her, a wrongful one...he says what do you expect of me - I am insensitive, khadoos... of course I am bound to do so... didnt you say these words about me? Then why are you surprised? What exactly makes this news to you?

And if you are surprised then what is the reason for that?

She chooses to not delve deeper into the conversation, ignoring the subtext still high from the one moment of euphoria her heart experienced - her kuch kuch hota hai moment with her husband. She begins the reply with jo bhi hai - whatever you are like...whatever it is I found my kuch kuch hota hai moment - I found love with you in that moment. A love that is reciprocated, a love that is as much wanted and appreciated by you as it is by me... I found hope in our marriage, in you, in us.

He hears it, of course he does... but wants to hear it again...not to make sure of what he heard, but to have that moment where he was sure her heart skipped a beat too, like his did, that he wasn't alone in the moment - that this moment they shared belonged to the two of them as much and asks her to repeat herself; but she denies, she shies away, she hides her face but he says the words that he does next "Ab is moment ka dhindhora saare seher mein mat peet dena.

Kuch moments aapas mein hi achhe lagte hai."

The man who is labeled as insensitive and khadoos asks his wife to NOT share the moment with anyone...he shows his sensitivity, shows he cares...shows how very much it meant to him THAT moment with her with the one order/request...don't share - cos he doesnt want to share that memory with anyone else, he doesn't even want anyone else knowing about it - its only for them and them alone. Not just because it is their first OPENLY romantic moment - but because it is theirs. She admitted it with a slip of tongue, he admitted it with subtext - they had a kuch kuch hota hai moment.

Take this moment and trace it to the balcony scene where she is pouring her heart out to her sister or so she thinks... she almost admits to loving him and he goads her, challenges her then in the car in another private moment - I heard you and later with one day you would come to me to say this yourself.

Mita de sabhi aaja faasle
Main chahun mujhe mujhse baant le
Zara sa mujhme tu jhaank le
Main hoon kya?

Aani ... ditto to all the replies i have ever made for u ..
Ok i will still say it ... LOVED IT ... incredible piece

I love posts which make me think .. make me actually think back on episodes & reflect .. today ur post did it for me ..

I loved that small scene of raman's .. when he said lets not make this public ..some moments are best between a couple .. it shows a beautiful insight into raman .. let me see if i am able to explain it in words ..

The first time he is irked is when she steps up on stage & she speaks about their fabled first meeting .. he doesnt like the fact that she discussed something .. even on that day .. when she spoke about the licence issue & how it touched her as a gesture .. he gets up & walks away .. muttering something to Mihir ...

If u note there are a lot of instances when this aspect of Raman comes to fore .. when he feeds her .. the apple when her hand is injured ..he does it under guise .. when she eats the apple from his hands .. he says i said u can eat from one hand .. doesnt mean my hand ..& the day .. he was sure of her feelings for him .. is the day he FIRMLY CLOSED THE DOOR OF HIS BEDROOM .. & since then it remains CLOSED ...

If u add up all these small incidents .. what u get is a man .. who is PRIVATE .. intimacy between a couple is PRIVATE to him ...

lets look at the one time he opened his mouth in the Param fiasco .. he asks her .. how come Param knows our relation status .. it was between us ...

Ever wonder why ...

His last love .. Shagun ... every bit of his relationship with Shagun was up for PUBLIC CONSUMPTION .. the entire Akash Ganga colony knew about the debacle called Raman Shagun Shaadi . they had a public separation .. his wife Publicly humiliated him when she walked away from the marriage .. for another man ..

His family was intimately in the know of how this man BEGGARED himself to HOLD BACK THE WOMAN ..

Thats the reason he walked away from EVERYTHING FAMILIAR .. he went away from home .. & everything which was known .. just to escape .. the very PUBLIC REJECTION dealt to him ...

He carried his heart on his sleeve for the world to see .. he was OPENLY enamoured by Shagun's beauty .. his infatuation was for the world to see ...

Its this man .. who is vary of any aspect of his love to be known ... is it any wonder he hides behind taunts ...

When u look at the characterisation of Raman ... its simply so brilliant .. every nuance in this mans characterisation leads to his PAST REJECTION .. the man we saw from first frame of the serial .. is a man who is a product of his past ...

Honestly for this kind of deep characterisation of the MALE PROTAGONIST .. i could forgive this writer a whole hog of 'cinematic liberties"

Sorry mini post hogaya .. but ur post really made me REFLECT ... i have always looked at raman as a person who is a product of his past rejection .. & every gesture where he hides his feelings has touched me .. look how he makes subramaniam bring the gaudy necklace home ... he couldn't reveal this big a gesture to her ... really love this porcupine Raman ..

On a day when the city was under curfew and there were riots galore a man wandered the streets searching for his wife, unmindful of the consequences of what could happen to him.

His mind worried and totally focused on finding his woman, wanting to know if she was safe, when a policeman says he saw a red car being burnt.

Suspended in shock and disbelief he stood there - feeling helpless and scared. Scared of losing her.

He lost his senses, fought with the law just to meet her, see her, ensure she was safe and got his breath back only when he was informed she was safe and heading home.

He called her, lambasted her for taking the risk but what came out in the fury was the fear that resided deep within his heart - what would happen to him if she was harmed. A realization that he can't lose her. Can't live without her, live without a woman whom he had accepted in his life for his daughter.

A realization - that she meant more to him than the mother of his child.

A truth which his heart had accepted long before his mind did. But the fear of losing her was quickly suppressed as life turned normal.

While he was still struggling with the newly discovered truth, life gave him another jolt. His wife was accused of something unspeakable. He stood there not knowing how to react, saw his wife's eyes questioning him and pleading him to trust her.

He was losing her again as her mother took her away, protecting her daughter from the accusations - what he should be doing, what his wife wanted him to do.

He resolved to bring the truth out, but needed time. But the separation was taking a toll on him.

They are like 2 pieces of a puzzle, incomplete on their own but fit perfectly together, completing each other.

Twice he had faced the fear of losing her.

The first time it was momentary and the fear was subsided before it got completely registered

The second time, it was his trust on her, that subsided the fear as he knew he will find a way to bring her back.

But this time, seeing her faint in his arms is going to corner him and (hopefully) give him the strength to overcome this fear, to vent out his true feelings. Wording his insecurity, which only she can heal. The other part of his puzzled existence. Remove his fears and fill it with pure love

The maunvrat will finally break with the

Dahan of Rejection.

Dahan of Insecurity

Dahan of Jealousy

Dahan of Anger

Dahan of Ego

The Dahan of Ravan. With her Ram rising out, purely and wholly.

Darling tum toh Kaher dhaa rahi ho ... each & every post is hitting the mark .. straight to the heart ..
I guess its true ... when u write with ur heart .. it touches the heart ...

Each word of urs resonates within the heart of the reader .. beautiful words .. beautiful thot .. beautiful feelings ...

Loved it ...

hmmm interesting on the DAHEN bit ...lekin kintu parantu but ..( as Bhanu wud say) ... i hope hum are Raavan ka pura dahen na ho ... i don't know if YHM will be half as much fun without raman's "raavinisms' or taunts 😉
