Its a great pleasure to read ur posts after the episode. It makes me understand a lot better and fall inlove with the show more.
The explanation you gave for Raman's sentence yesterday is very nice - about love life/ shagun love life.
Never thought about it that way.

Did not get why Raman's answer to ishita until you gave the in depth meaning of it.
I still didnot get Why he announced that he will not do the mistake again about falling in love second time... So i initially didnot think he was talking abt mani. Still didnot get it why he related it to himself now.( which again ishita misunderstood )

Clearly communication is a major problem with this couple. And we are lucky to have you here in This YHM forum. Thanks dear!!!

I have never mentioned this before, but your insights into a particular episode or a specific moment are very thought-provoking. Many a times, I have interpreted a scene in it's literal sense and it isn't until I read your post that I see it in a completely different light.

But UGH what a day to make the post - I am house hopping today for the festivities and havent been able to think and type coherently

So please excuse me if there is a totally bizarre flow in what I have written down today

If we observe from where their journey begins - they have always given what the other wants - once they know the others wish -directly or indirectly by overhearing

The first words they speak to each other - she says what she expects, and he says it albeit rudely (hamare yahan please and thank you ka riwaz hai- something like that, and he says, ya right, thanks)

A simple request - granted.

She asked and he gave. The relationship began right there and there was no Ruhi as a reason then

Then they met at the clinic - he saw the bond between his daughter and this woman. He was surprised that she knew his daughter - but he did notice the bond between the two. The dumb charades between them showed how well they could communicate without words.

Again her deepest desire was to be a mother, a wish he fulfilled. Despite his general hatred towards women, he knew deep inside that she would be a good mother and recommended her to the adoption agency. But that unfortunately fell through and he agreed to get married to her for Ruhi. Yes, his father gave him the idea, and Ruhi did choose her mother, but what did push him into it was the trust that she will be a good mother.

They agreed to get married for Ruhi - someone who is in the heart of both. Someone who has interlocked their lives and their hearts. Their hearts were already joined.

For him, he wanted a family - someone to keep his daughter happy and secure. She provided it. (He tells this to Shagun too, that Ishita has brought peace in his life)

Someone who takes care of his parents and siblings the way he does. She provided it.

These are unspoken requests, yet understood and fulfilled.

His deepest fear came out in his semi-conscious state - she helped him see the truth

He tells his mother, he wants his daughter to feel he is the best father, she provides him that happiness time and again - the speech she writes for Ruhi about her father, and later when Ashok and Shagun use Ruhi.

During the Param fiasco, when she was leaving the house, she looked at him with questioning eyes, did he not trust her. He proved it to her by showing Param's face to the family.

Its when they don't communicate (the maunvrat) that things begin to disrupt their peace.

The accident track, when he hands over the Ruhi's bag to him, she hands over the trust that she has over him. He knows he is breaking it and the thought tortures him

That's when she first words her misunderstanding that she believes Raman still loves Shagun. She tells him so but he doesn't refute it. Had they been facing each other at that time, they could have read the angst that both were going through. A communication would have happened to settle the matter once and for all.

Also In the party sequence, she hears what he tells Shagun - no one can give me the happiness that you gave me. She knows, it's the truth. Asks him too, that if that is what he wanted he could have married someone else.

He doesn't refute it and says, the two things are different. Had he cleared her misunderstanding she would have been bolder to take a step towards him.

Unfortunately the feeling of insecurity has already increased in her by now along with a sense of dejection that she cannot be the woman he needs, cannot fulfill all his desires. Desires that she thought he wanted.

They did more for each other at every step - license, the bidding sequence etc -each understanding what the other wants. Not as Ruhi's parents but as partners for life, for the self-respect of the other, just to make the other happy and proud.

Both of them talk about how failure of first love hurts. He tells Pehle pyar ke maine sab ke liye alag hote hain.

Though she clearly tells she is over Subbu, he doesn't clarify at that time.

Raman fell in love with Shagun at first sight. He practically worshipped her and wanted to do everything for her, however impossible the circumstances were for him

Was he really in love with Shagun, that's a vital question?

Because falling in love is the easier part. Being in love is the hard one.

You can fall in love, have your heart flip whenever you look at the person, think about them 24x7, be so lost in admiration that you weave your own hazy tale of love - which unfortunately breaks ones day if you are not IN LOVE

Falling in love may make one blind but being in love opens your eyes to the world around you.

So he is in love, not with Shagun but with Ishita. First he fell in love with Ishita as Ruhi's mom but slowly he is attracted to her and is in love with the woman Ishita(the fracture sequence) and not just Ruhi's mom. The fact that his daughter loves her too only seals the bond even tighter.

During a conversation about decking up and looking good, she tells him if this is what you wanted; you should have brought a perfect wife. He says, I had a perfect one, but this imperfect is enough for me. Because true love doesn't expect perfection. Even if it did - Shagun's perfect beauty caught his attention, but Ishita's perfect character caught his heart.

Again during the fracture sequence, hadn't he backtracked taking Ruhi's name, probably she would have let her heart speak. Her eyes spoke volumes at that moment

Also now living together isnt just enough, they both want to BE together. The physical attraction has deepened.

During the Post-Sanjana discussion she looks down when speaking her mind as she knows her eyes wont lie.Wont be able to hide how much she is already in love with him, her man- not Ruhi's father.

His proximity almost makes her blurt out, but again she looks away while speaking to him. Not wanting him to read her eyes.

Both are confused and scared to take the next step as both are scared of rejection. Both seek assurance from the other to move ahead. Till then they want to appear comfortable with the current status.

At that moment, she questions her physical response to him but doesn't wonder on his reaction to her. Else she would have got the answer.

He is aware of her attraction towards him but prefers to wait for her to acknowledge it.

Then they talk about taking second chances at love. Again had she not taken Mani's name he would know she was talking about them. The response would have been different. But taking Mani's name only increased the jealousy and made him give an answer which makes her assume he doesn't want to take chances in love

Also he tells he doesn't want to fall in love again. Because he is in love with her. Ishita.

For him, she IS his first true love, his pehla pyar.

She tells Mani, what does one want from marriage, care, security and he has already given it to her in spades. What more does one ask in a marriage? But she needs to ask him the right question. Tell what she really wants from him

TELL him that she wants his love and nothing less than that will do.

Many times they didn't ask the right question because they are afraid they will not be able to handle the answer and they prefer to be silent about them' again.

But jealously isn't going to keep him silent anymore, esp when he sees Mani is not just some chusa hua aam.. He will be pushed to speak his heart out, Out of fear of losing her. Losing his pehla pyar.

By losing her, I mean- not physically apart but emotionally. She will never leave him, never because of Ruhi. She will compromise and stay but he will not want that because he wants her to live with him, for HIM, because he loves her. He wants them to live together for love and not as a compromise anymore.

Listen and silent have the same letters, rearranged. They need to rearrange their mode of communication - rearrange silent to listen. Once they listen they will break the silence. Break the self assured complacency in their relationship. Mani's entry is going to break his silence and make her listen.

Regarding theit conversation about falling in love a second time, I was surprised by his dialogue I won't make the same mistake twice. It appeared like he was talking about himself which was quite surprising.
