Part 11
Raman: Baghwaan bahut unfair hai maa. He gave this happiness to the one who didn't deserve it. And deprived the one who deserves it the most. Not fair maa. Not fair at all...
Toshiji was in tears as well but she tried to make raman understand that ishita needs raman to be with her at times like this.
Toshiji: Oye puttar! You shouldn't lose hope like this. Tujhe yaad hai ruhi ne kiya kaha tha? Ki uski ishima baanjh nahin hai. Tu jaa ishita ke paas. Usse sambhaalo.
But raman was lost in his own world. He slowly got up and went out. When he came back everyone was sitting for lunch, Bhallas and Iyers together. Ishita was busy in the kitchen and raman noticed that she was trying her best to smile and get involved in everything. But raman saw that she was still lost, and he need to bring her back. He need to see that 1000 watt smile back on her face. He need to see her sparkling eyes. He need to make her happy.
After lunch raman pulled ishita into the room stating that he need to talk to her about something important. Ofcourse the couple received millions of teasing comments but raman chose to ignore it while ishita naturally blushed. They went into the room and raman closed the door behind them.
Raman: Ishita you do know how much I love you right?
Ishita was surprised at his question but quickly nodded a yes.
Without wasting anymore time raman directly came to the point.
Raman: You do know that I love you only for you despite knowing the fact that you can't conceive right?
Ishita's tears welled up at the mention of the topic and she bit her tongue to stop the sob coming out. Raman came and held her shoulders.
Ishita: Raman I am so sorry raman. I'm so sorry. I can never complete our family. Our love will always remain incomplete. Log sahi kehte hai. Main bekaar hoon. Aurat kehne ki laayak nahin hoon...
Raman: Ishita, true love does not depend on the flaws of a person. True love is when your love has got flaws but still you love her and desire her more than anything in the world. Love is complete when you love your partner for who she is. Love is complete when you see a glimpse of her and the rest of the world ceases to exist. Love is complete when you hear her laugh and suddenly all the problems in your life seems to vanish for a while. Love is complete when you hug her tight and you feel like you are in seventh heaven, or higher above than that if possible. Now tell me ishita.. Is our love incomplete??
Ishita was speechless for the first time and stared at this amazing man who is her husband. Realization dawned upon her as she mentally said out the words. HUSBAND. This super understanding, loving, caring man was HER husband. She suddenly felt like the luckiest woman on earth. All stupid thoughts left her as she threw herself into his arms and cried.
Ishita: I love you raman. I love you so much.
Raman: I love you too. And don't you dare think so low of yourself again. Meri ek baat hamesha yaad rakhna. Tum baanjh nahi ho. Humari ek beti hai jo sirf tumhari aur meri hai. Humari ruhi.
Ishita nodded her head and they stood like that for a while enjoyjng the peace they felt in each other's arms. But raman's next statement again made her tear up.
Raman: But I would definitely want our own baby. Who will be the symbol of our love. Who will be half mine and half yours. And I am sure this dream is also going to get fulfilled.
Ishita broke the embrace and looked at raman with a guilty look again. But before she could say anything raman hushed her.
Raman: Shhh ishita. Dreams do come true. I started believing in this the second I fell in love with you. You are the fairy in my life who made all my dreams come true. And you will remain the fairy in my life forever and beyond.
When ishita again hugged him without saying anything, raman decided to lighten up the situation.
Raman: But fairies have wings and you don't. What if people doesn't believe me when I tell them that you are a fairy?
Ishita looked up at him without breaking the hug. Raman melted in those big, innocent eyes. She looked as if a little kid was demanding candy. "Had all this fairy talk made jhansi ki rani drop her sword and put a lollypop in her mouth?", raman wondered and smiled at the thought. His jhansi ki rani can be so childish sometimes- he concluded.
Raman: Koi baat nahin. I'll just tell them that I took your wings from you. So that you can never fly away and leave me.
He winked at her and she instantly reacted to that wink with an involuntary blush that crept up her cheeks.
He spoke after a while. This time ishita noticed that the teasing tone in his voice was gone. It seemed more like a serious tone now.
Raman: Ishita if I tell you that you have a chance to conceive once you undergo a special treatment, will you do it?
Ishita looked up at him and he continued.
Raman: Actually I spoke to the best gyenocologist in the country and she said that there are chances. Will you agree to it?
Ishita was too overwhelmed to respond. He was ready to do anything to keep her happy. She couldn't form a coherent sentence to answer him back so she just nodded her head up and down several times with a big smile plastered on her lips and tears flowing off her cheeks. Her eyes sparkled at the mere mention of it and raman already felt overjoyed.
Raman: So get ready by 8 tonight. I'll pick you up. Mujhe office mein kuch kaam hain. Take care okay. I love you.
Ishita: I love you too. Love you too. I love you so much.
Ishita kept repeating the words and raman had to shut her mouth with a passionate kiss. He left the room but not before stopping at the entrance and saying "save some I love you's for tonight as well". Ishita blushed hard at that and the blush stayed on her face the entire afternoon.
Raman was home exactly at 7pm. He told the family that they were going for dinner so not to wait for them. Ishita didn't want the family to know about the treatment yet as her doctor side told her that it could be unsuccessful as well. Raman took ishita to a maternity clinic and met the doctor. On the other hand shagun who came to a nearby mall saw the two of them going into the maternity clinic together. She added 2 and 2 to make 5 and assumed ishita to be pregnant.
Raman: Doctor, yeh meri wife Ishita hai. I spoke to you about her today.
Doctor: Yes Mr.Bhalla. I have heard about your wife. She is currently the best dentist in town. Nice to meet you.
The doctor shook hands with ishita and ishita smiled at her.
Doctor: Ishita. I have read about your case. And I am happy to tell you that I have treated this type of cases before as well. And 95% of the patients were successful. But before we start, I need a guarantee that you both are willing to go through this procedure.
Ishita looked at raman and raman held her hand tightly and nodded his head. Ishita also relaxed knowing that her husband will always be there for her. Doctor sent ishita away with a nurse for some tests while raman waited outside. Meanwhile the doctor told raman to take extra care of ishita during the process.
Doctor: She may experience severe pain in her lower abdomen and feel like vomitting. I will give some medicines to decrease the pain but it won't go away completely. And most importantly if there is any unusual bleeding, please come to me immediately.
Raman: Yes doctor. I will definitely take care of her. I will make sure everything goes well.
Doctor: And also Mr.Bhalla.. Pregnant hone ke liye bahut kuch karna padta hai. I hope you understand. Just make sure that she feels comfortable.
Raman nodded his head while ishita returned to the room and doctor told them to collect the reports the next morning. They both thanked the doctor and left the clinic.
On their way back home raman stopped the car infront of an ice cream shop and asked the shopkeeper to give them two blackcurrent ice cones. Ishita thanked raman and went to stand near their car, licking the ice cone into her mouth while savouring it's taste. Raman turned around to find ishita licking the ice cone like a little kid. When a drop of ice cream fell down her lips, raman couldn't stop himself from walking upto her and licking the cream off her lips.
Ishita froze at the point and stared at raman wide-eyed. She couldn't believe he was romancing her in public. Ishita lowered her eyes unable to meet eyes with the passing people.
Ishita: Raman yeh kiya hai?
Raman smirked at her and mouthed his famous "kyaaa" and ishita couldn't stop herself from looking at his eyes and drowning in those expressive eyes. They came out of their trance when they heard a car honk. They quickly finished off the ice-creams and went home.
At home, ruhi sat on the sofa with her arms crossed on her chest and a pout on her lips. Ishita immediately knew something was wrong so she sat next to her as well.
Ishita: Roo baby... Did you eat your dinner? Kya huva meri bacchi?
Ruhi put her head on ishita's lap and started crying. Raman also came and sat next to them.
Raman: Kya huva ruhi? Humhe nahin bataaongi?
Ruhi said in between her sobs.
Ruhi: Ishima, papa. Mujhe bhi ek baby brother ya sister chaahiye. Adi bhaiyaa ne kaha ki mujhe kabhi koi baby sister ya brother nahin milenge. Not fair na papa. Everybody in my class has got a baby brother or sister. Why don't I have one? Ishima mein good girl banoongi. I'll even take care of the baby. I won't complain about anything. Please papa, please ishima. I want a baby brother or sister.
By the time ruhi finished her complaints, ishita tears were falling down her cheeks. Raman took ruhi from her and wiped her tears.
Raman: Ruhi, Adi bhaiyaa ne jo kaha woh sach nahi hai. Papa ruhi ko promise karte hai ki ruhi ko bhi ek baby brother ya sister milengi. Abb happy?
Ruhi looked at ishita and she smiled through her tears. Ruhi hugged both her parents and they kissed her on her cheeks. Toshiji and amma were witnessing all this and they looked at each other. Amma had tears in her eyes.
Amma: Meri ishu ne kya ghalat kiya jo usse itni badi saza mil rahi hai? Woh toh kabse apni ek bacchi ke liye tadap rahi hai. Ek aisa sapna dekh rahi hai jo kabhi sach nahin hongi..
Toshiji: Nahin samdhanji, aise baat nahin karte. Shubh shubh bolo.
The next night ishita was preparing dinner when raman went and hugged her from behind.
Raman: Bedroom chale?
Ishita: Did you lose your brain somewhere? It's almost dinner time!
Raman: So?? I want to spend some time alone with my wife. Is that a crime?
Ishita: Raman try to understand na.. Amma appa is also coming over for dinner. We are going to have a big family dinner. We have to be there.
Raman sighed: Fine. But I won't leave you tonight. Yaad rakhna!
He moved from the kitchen and made his way to the living room. Soon dinner was ready and everyone was seated around the table. Ishita and neelu brought the food and toshiji told ishita to come and sit with them too. Ishita nodded and sat down. They all started eating.
Ishita was feeling uneasy because of all the smell of the foods. She couldn't help it anymore and she jumped up from her chair. She ran to the bathroom covering her mouth and vomitted. Raman ran after her. Everyone was worried but ishita just brushed off their questions saying she is fine and she vomitted because she didn't eat lunch.
Next morning, raman and ishita decided to leave for the treatment session before everyone woke up. But Mr.Bhalla was already awake and they had to lie to him stating that ishita had early appointments and raman had to attend an international conference call. But they forgot that it was sunday and raman never conducts conferences on sundays.
Meanwhile, mihika had made plans with mihir to meet at a coffee shop early morning before their office time. Coincidentally the coffee shop was located infront the maternity clinic and mihika who was there before mihir saw raman and ishita going into the clinic. Just like shagun, mihika also assumed her akka to be pregnant and she couldn't control her excitement. She quickly took a picture to show the family and called mihir and told him to meet her at home immediately.
Once inside their apartment, mihika screamed at the Iyers to come to the Bhalla house fast. Once everyone gathered in the living room, mihika broke the news while clapping her hands in excitement. The family was overwhelmed and thanked God for answering their prayers. They all decided to surprise the couple after dinner and also scold them for not telling them such a good news.
