As promised, I'm back with part 12 of my SS. Hope you like it.

Part 12

Once inside their apartment, mihika screamed at the Iyers to come to the Bhalla house fast. Once everyone gathered in the living room, mihika broke the news while clapping her hands in excitement. The family was overwhelmed and thanked God for answering their prayers. They all decided to surprise the couple after dinner and also scold them for not telling them such a good news.

At dinner everyone kept staring at the couple and then glancing at each other. This irritated raman and he asked.

Raman: Kya hai? Ghoor ghoor kar kya dekh rahi ho? Paagal ho gayi ghar mein sab log?

Romi: Nahin bhai kuch nahin. Woh actually..

Mihir: Bhai woh actually hum sab ko aapki asli rang pata chal gaya.

Raman: Asli rang??? What the hell are you talking about??

Simmi: Bhai aap toh chupe rustam nikli!

Raman: Baat ko ghuma kyun rahe hai sab log? Seedhe seedhe bol nahin sakti kya?

Right at that time mihika made her grand entry with a big cake which said "Congratulations raavan kumar and jhansi ki rani".

Ishita: What is this mihika? Congratulations kisliye?

The whole iyer family also came there.

Bala: Don't try to hide it from us ishu. We know everything now.

Vandu: Haan. Aur humare paas saboot bhi hai.

Raman: Saboot? What saboot? Are you all crazy?

Amma came and hugged ishita.

Amma: Now I understand why raman told all that to ruhi the other day. You have no idea how happy I am ishu. Abb mujhe zindagi mein kuch nahin chaahiye.

Toshiji came with mithaai and stuffed it in raman and ishita's mouths.

Toshiji: Move away madrasan. She is my punjabi bahu. And you raman.. Don't you dare make my daughter-in-law upset at anything hereafter. Warna mujhse bura koi nahi honga yaad rakh.

Amma: Aiyyo! Woh tumhari punjabi bahu hone se pehle meri madrasi beti thi. Samjhi!

Mr.Bhalla: Arre toshiji. Let her sit first. Don't keep her standing.

Ruhi: And nobody should make my ishima do any work. She will only rest! Ishima, from now on you will have to eat lots of green apples. My teacher said they are good for health.

Everyone laughed at ruhi while ishita and raman were still confused.

Ishita looked at an equally confused raman and sat down.

Raman: What is this? What has happened to everyone? Has everybody locked away their brains somewhere???

Ishita: Haan why are you all doing this? What happened? Congratulations kisliye?

Vandu: We have done all this. Now it's your turn to make the official announcement.

Mihika: And don't you dare lie to us.

Mihir: Haan bhai bhabhi. We know everything. We just want to hear it from you guys.

Raman couldn't handle this anymore and screamed.

Raman: Everybody shut the hell up! What is going on here? What is all this?

Ishita: Exactly. What is wrong with you all? I don't understand anything.

Amma: Aiyyo ishu. You are still trying to fool us huh? We know that you are pregnant.

Raman and ishita screamed a "WHAAAT??" together.

Ishita: Nahin nahin amma. You are misunderstood amma. I am not pregnant amma!!!

Ishita said in one breath and everyone gasped. Raman shook his head in disbelief.

Raman: I don't believe this. Who told you all this?

The whole family looked at a gaping mihika who looked as if she wanted to go hide somewhere.

Mihir: But bhai. Mihika saw you both going into a maternity clinic today.

Simmi: Haan bhai. She even took photos.

Mihika showed them the photos and ishita quickly racked her brains for a possible answer.

Ishita: Woh actually wahan meri ek dost admitted hai. Issiliye I wanted to go and see her. And I wasn't comfortable going there alone so I asked raman to come with me.

Raman screamed at everyone for making assumptions like this and went away shaking his head. He wondered how long they would be able to hide this from the over-active brains in the family. Ishita shook her head at mihika who looked at her with an apologetic face.

Mihika: Abb cake ka kya karein?

Vandu elbowed mihika on her tummy and whispered.

Vandu: Yahan ishu ki feelings hurt hai aur tujhe cake ki parwa hai? You idiot!

Mihika whispered back.
Mihika: Mujhe kya pata? I couldn't control my excitement when I saw them there.

Ishita looked at the sorry faces of her crazy family and calmly replied..
Ishita: It's okay everyone. Let's cut the cake and we all will eat!

The whole family was surprised to see ishita calm and cool. She cut the cake and fed it to ruhi first. Rest of the family joined in too and the cake cutting turned into a small family gathering with music and fun.

Toshiji came upto amma and took her aside.

Toshiji: But samdhanji. Don't you think they both are hiding something from us? Raman kabhi sundays ko conferences nahin rakhte.

Amma: Haan haan santoshi. Aur yaad hai. That day at dinner, ishu vomitted when she smelt the food. But why are they hiding such a big thing from us?

Both the mothers decided to discuss the matter among themselves and then confront them about it.

Next day ishita woke up a little late and worked at the speed of light to send ruhi to school on time. She was feeling uneasy and her tummy hurt like anything. Suddenly raman stormed into the kitchen and took ishita aside and reminded her about the treatment. Ishita checked the time.

Ishita: Aiyyoo raman we are so late!

Raman: Socho hum sabko kiya bol kar nikhlengi?

Ishita decided not to tell raman about her painful tummy as she thought it was her period pains and it will get raman worried unneccessarily. They couldn't think of a proper excuse so they decided to leave the house without telling anyone. But they met vandu on the way and ishita had no option but to tell her about it.

Ishita: Akka, Please mujhse wada karo ki aap kissiko bhi yeh baat nahin bataongi.

Vandu: Kya baat hai? Ishu tum teekh toh hai na?

Raman: Haan vandu. Ishita ko kuch nahi huva hai. It's just..

Ishita: Akka... Actually we are consulting a doctor. Raman knows the best gyaenocologist in the country and she said that if the treatment goes well, I can... I can conceive.

Vandu: Oh my god ishu!!! Really? Oh I'm so happy. That means you both are trying for a baby!!!!

Raman: Vandu shhh. Yeh baat kissiko bhi mat bataao. Promise me

Vandu: Oh yeah sorry. Ruhi promise! But ishu I'm so happy for you both!!! Ishu tum bilkul chinta mat karo. God will set everything right. I always told you all your dreams will come true at the right time. See.. The time has come. Best of luck haan!

Ishita: Itna bhi khush hone ki zaroorat nahin hai akka. Treatment unsuccessful bhi ho sakti hai.

Raman: Arre vandu! Apni ishu ko samjhaado! I don't know how many times I have told her to be positive. But madam never listens to me.

Vandu: What is this ishu? You used to be so positive about everything. And this is such a good news! You shouldn't talk about negative things like this. Not fair haan.

Ishita: Akka.. Pain changes people... Abb chalo raman. We're already late..

Raman observed ishita and held her hand. She looked at him and smiled. Raman also smiled although he was disturbed by what she said. They went away hand in hand. What they didn't know was that their parents were listening to their conversation with tears of happiness in their eyes. They got the answers to their questions and decided to wait until they break the news themselves. They were happy that their kids were happy in their life and is moving on together. Amma's happiness knew no bounds as she registered the fact that her daughter has now got everything she had feared she would be deprived of- an understanding husband and a complete loving family.

On the way home from the clinic, raman kept stealing glances at ishita.

Ishita: Kya huva raman? Aise kyun dekh rahi ho?

Raman: Kuch nahin. Bas aise hi. Kyun? Main apni biwi ko dekh rahi hoon. Isme problem kya hai?

Ishita: Koi problem nahin hai. Dekh lo dekh lo.

Raman: Ishita, tumne aisa kyun kahan ki pain changes people... I know I have given you a lot of pain and...

Ishita: Nahin raman. I wasn't talking about you. I was talking about my past. You are my present and future.

Raman: You know what I ask God everyday?.. What did I do in my last lifetime to deserve you as my wife.

Ishita: Kyun? Main itni buri hoon?

Raman: Nahin.. Tum itni acchi ho ki kabhi kabhi mujhe darr lagta hai. Ki yeh sab ek sapna hai and when I wake up one day, you won't be there anymore. I don't know how I am going to live if something like that happens.

Ishita: Raman.. Kaise baatein karrahi ho? Yeh sab filmy dialogues aapko suit nahin karte. Mujhe diabetes ho jaayegi! Raavan kumar, I won't leave you so easily. You have to bear with me your whole lifetime and the next thousands of lifetimes!

Raman: If that is the case, then I would be more than happy to be my jhansi ki rani's slave!
