He had been glancing at her every now and then. He blamed her completely for looking this delectable. He took out his cell phone thinking he should let her know his thoughts and also to remind his promise he made last night.
Need to talk.
That was the message that flashed on her screen. She looked up at him across the hall and that straight jaw line told her he meant business now. She followed him to the far end, in the green room. "What's wrong?" She asked as soon as she set her foot in the room.
"There is some problem ishita... Its ... "
She turned him around and said impatiently "just say it Raman. I have to take mihika to the alter, they are waiting for me."
"There is no need for it."
"Do you even realize what you a are saying?"
"Yes, its Shagun." He looked everywhere but her.
"What's has she to to do with the wedding? You didn't bring me here to discuss your past, did you? We can sort it later , okay?"
"She is mihir's sister."
She could only gasp. "Why are you telling me this now?"
Romi came in just then and asked his sister in law to join the lot as the prescribed time was running out and they needed her to finish the ritual in time.
"Because she is the reason behind his absence."
"I need to comprehend this, why suddenly is he listening to her ?"
"She has been sick lately and is in hohospital now apparently."
She went through a gush of emotions, from disbelief to shock to anger. "She can't do this! She can't ruin so many lives!" She said as she held his collars. "She has already made him leave her at the alter once, mihika will not be able to live through this!"

"Now is not the time Romi, I'll speak to you later. I need to sort things here. "
He made her sit on the sofa then and thought of the possible solutions to overcome this mess. There must be something he could do, he thought. He had to. He was the reason they are in this situation in the first place. His brother spoke then "I'll marry her."
"Its not a joke romi."
"I know, that's why I'm saying."
"You need to be responsible enough for this!"
"Weren't you responsible when you got married at first?" He earned his brother's glare at that but he continued "look, I know I've messed it big time before and until you don't give me another chance I can't prove I have changed."
He looked at his sister in law then and pleaded "its not about me bhabi, its about her. She doesn't deserve to be scorned like this. Twice." He emphasized. "People have been talking about the MMS scandal and that almost paper marriage but we can't give them another reason to laugh at her, can we?"
He turned around and tried his best to make his point through "I know I'm not the best for her, she... She is above all this. But trust me bhai, that's the best I can think of now. "
"Its a life time commitment Romi." She told him, giving him a hint to back off now if he wants to but her remark only gave him the confident that she is up for it, and he smiled and moved his fingers through his hair "at this particular moment, I am not sure about anything else but this. I need your support bhabi."
"She won't agree to this." His brother was quite through all his blabbering and spoke just now to highlight an important factor.
"I'll speak to her." His little brother who didn't seem so little now spoke again, making clear his intentions.
She was calling his fiance every minute now but to no avail. When he approached her she seemed lost and forlorn. And hopeless too. He didn't waste time in stating the truth, "he isn't coming."
She turned around almost ready to bash him but that look in his eyes told her it is useless now. She didn't feel so strong anymore and sat down in the floor. Her life kept playing in front of her, the promises, the dream of a happy life together and before she knew it, her fear escaped her lips in a whisper "what do I do now?"
