Hi YHMians,
Just done with today's epi - and glad I read only part of the LU before starting to watch the epi - cos I could go in with a little less bias.
So here is my rant on the good, bad, ugly - and logic vs disbeliefš.
First things first:
The Adi angle :
I think everyone following YHM knew this was bound to take prominence at some point in the show. Maybe we didn't expect it this early - but we all heart in heart knew where this was heading. After all this is story based on the custody of Raman's children - both being brought up in broken homes.
Ruhi is now secure and Adi is in need of a home and a proper upbringing.
Everyone who wants this to be a love story going by the misleading title š, should probably rewatch the initial episodes (which is what I have been doing - so maybe I can relate better). The euphoria of the pre confession stage of IshRa nothwithstanding, this is just a phase and once they have admitted their love for each other - the story will and should move on to what it claimed to be.
Whats good -
The writers have created a premise (maybe a little hackneyed) for Raman and Ishita to take notice of how bad upbringing is going to lead Adi to a very bad future - maybe even a criminal one. I think the end of this track symbolizes what I have always been saying about Raman - that at the day, he will wake up - get an epiphany and decide to get his son on the right path - even if that means severe punishment.
So is the custody going to happen immediately? I am not sure about this. I sincerely hope the redemption track starts first - gradually leading to custody. Ishita and Bala should both start working on the psyche of the kid first.
Whats not good -
The CVs really need to be pulled up for not building a character graph or a sub story plot for Adi convincingly. Yes he is a brat, he is totally messed up - but they could have shown the reasons for it - and also a different side to the persona of the kid.
Today we saw him so affected when he heard his mother had an accident - and then that day with Bala , when he asked him about his bond with his son. I can think of only those two instances.
If only there was a strong enough premise built here - audience reaction would have been so different. And maybe we could have related at some level.
Plus the child actor is bad - period. At least give him some good lines and a parallel story line to justify his actions if he can't be replaced.
The Gender bias (Or is it??):
My Opinion here:
I read a lot of rants on the forum about how the Bhalla household prefers the male child (Adi) over the female child(Ruhi).
For once I just wish the makers had not stuck to the book here and made the first child a girl and the second one a boy - because other than Toshiji (who in my opinion also loves Ruhi as much as she loves Adi) who talks about Adi being the waaris I really don't see anyone else seeing it that way.
For Raman it is not his first boy - but his first child - and his first child born in a phase where there was love in his relationship - and this is a profound thought. Hence his constant reminiscing of the smallest memories related to Adi.
Again CVs haven't yet picked up the thread of Ruhi's birth because I think they plan to talk about it later. But Ruhi was not a child born in a phase of love in Raman and Shagun's relationship and I am assuming most memories surrounding her birth (unfortunately) are bitter.
Also - why do the Bhallas get emotional about Adi and not say heck - we have Ruhi - why bother!!- I don't think anyone who has a child or a grandchild who they have seen born and brought up for 6 yrs and then had forcibly taken away can feel that way - that is almost inhuman.
The Bhallas were equally if not more distraught when Ruhi was taken away from them (Again! rewatch old episš)
What can be changed in the CVs approach :
Yes - cut the waaris/chiraag dialogue - its typical of women in that generation - but yes it sends wrong signals. Toshi for all her faults does obsess over her daughter Simmiš..so she doesn't believe in that son over daughter thing either.
Precap today - Clapworthy!:
I loved the PreCap today - and can so relate to the panic 'first time parents' face- and that's what Raman was talking about. I had wanted to see a Raman - Vandita scene regarding the pregnancy and glad CVs incorporated itš. Its rare to see men taking keen interest - forget being so sensitive about this phase in a woman's life!!
For those who hate Adi - Ignore the name and rewatch the scene - Imagine he was talking about Ruhi herešš.
Today's episode wasn't great in term of editing and some avoidable dialogues by Raman and Toshi - but I think it had its heart in place in terms of the direction the story is moving.
PS: I love spoilers too - but for the sake of some awaited scenes - wouldn't want to miss the subtle moments in the journey leading up to them. I mean those are the layers that make a story interesting - the sweet, the sour, the bitter and the spicešš³.
Ending my long rant - today's episode and too much YHM rewatching old epi's ke side effectsš - this is purely my opinion and not to take away from othersš.
